...again, I never said 30 hour flight. I said 30 hours. I don't see where this even suggests a flight.... -

I never said 30 hour flight. I said 30 hours. I've been in the airline industry for 26 years...I know how long flights are to the other side of the world. He's playing 30 hours away from his daughter...and that's what I said. -

In 1989, Sports Illustrated thought differently, as did the rest of the NHL. http://www.si.com/vault/1989/03/20/119567/no-3-with-a-bullet-motowns-steve-yzerman-the-nhls-third-brightest-star-could-climb-even-higher-on-the-charts -

Yzerman is generational, but he definitely would not have won a Cup without Fedorov & co. -

Same to similar numbers as Roy, Hasek, Brodeur and he was never near elite? The three listed above also played on arguably the best all around teams in the 90's. Jersey was a better defensive team than Detroit, Colorado was Colorado, but no, they did all the work and was the only reason their teams were so good... 08 Cup rests on 2 people's shoulders, Z and Ozzie. The team was struggling and Ozzie only came in and won 9 straight wins in playoffs. He won 3 Cups, two as the main goalie. The stats don't lie (right krsmith?) Osgood, while maybe not the best goalie of his generation, was as close to elite as possible without being called elite. -

Wings win in 02 with or without Lidstrom. He was great, but nobody was beating that HOOF team. I think in 08, he wasn't as big a factor either. He was great, but that team was a puck possession magic show. He was a big part of it, for sure, but if he wasn't there, they may have still won. -

God I hope so! Please please please! A 7th round pick should do...retain 20%. -
Ya, I'm not sure why Holland thinks that Jimmy is so valuable that he won't trade him and he feels he'll get snagged off the expansion wire. I wouldn't be surprised if he traded Mrazek just so he could protect Jimmy.

From some of the reports I've read (at work cannot post a link, but I think it was a Malik report) Holland is "Sold" on Sadowy. From what it sounds like is he has a fast track to Detroit. Could this make Mantha expendable? I hope not, but we all know about the log jam, and if Sadowy is rising in the ranks, it could box out another player....yet again, another example of siging useless contracts that take up valuable roster spots. I hope there is a 3 or 4 forward(s) trade in the works coming up for either assets or picks. Although he is waiver exempt and start in GR, he may get the call up before Mantha... -

Ozzie definitely belons in the HOF and his # retired. Bottom line, he won the 08 Cup for us. He should've be awarded the Con Smythe that year as well. He also had a Con Smythe 09 Cup run, if it werent for a little help from Uncle Gary, he would've won another Cup that season. Where are all the corsi/stat guys here? They want to use stats to justify wasting a roster spot on a bottom line player, but where are they to defend why Ozzie deserves HHOF and both he an Sergei deserve their numbers retired. If they reitre #13 before #91, then there is a travesty going on...at least #91 honored his contract(s) even when he was only making $2M when he was the best player in the NHL. He honored that contract, then got screwed by Holland. Holland offer him 5 yrs $55M-ish and Sergei asked to wait until after he settled his divorce and found his new agent...when all that was over, he wanted to sign the deal, but that deal was pulled and Holland only offered him 4 yrs $44M-ish. I don't blame him one bit for leaving, and knowing now what UFA's think about Holland, its no wonder players don't want to come here... -
...but Osgood played behind the Red Wings, my gramma could win 400 playing for the Wings.

Osgood didn't leave by choice. Fedorov had his contract snatched out from under him by Holland. Babdick nixed his return in 08. -
signed Darren Helm re-signed: 5 years, $3.85m AAV

Nowhere near top 6 talent. Overpayment, too long. 4th line player. Should've cut ties, but holland's an idiot. NMC coming soon...along KFQ soon. -

Lol at Z & Pav and not Feds/Osgood. Osgood owns most the Red Wings playoff records, plus 400 wins. feds the best player on the team throughout the 90's and 3 Cup era. 91 and 30 absolutely. Especially if you're even considering 13 & 40. -

Ya, pretty much means Stamkos told him to jump off a cliff. Holland has ruined this franchise with his stupid contracts to players who aren't worth it:Ericsson, Kronwall, Howard, Franzen, Helm. I'm surprised KFQ isn't getting a 5 yr deal because he knows our system. Helm will get a NMC and KFQ will be signed before summer is over. That's Holland, search those feelings. -

If Holland doesn't get a defenseman then he will lose players to waivers. He has 16 forwards signed, Pulk to yet sign and Frk out of exemptions along with the others that were out of them last season. Also those 16 signed forwards does not include AA, he makes 17, Pulk and Frk make 19. Sure AA and Mantha have exemptions, so I guess we will 17 once Pulk signs, but it's still too many...he must trade 2 forwards and 1 D to acquire a better dman. Maybe another forward for conditional pick. Howard must go as well, I can't believe he is being so loyal when his cap is suffering. Or will be soon once DD and Mrazek get their contracts. -

So, this guy renigs on his contract to play close to family...then signs to play on a team 30 hours away from his daughter. Automatically disqualifies has # from being retired in my book. -

Holland paid a 4th liner who cannot score a goal $3.8M for the next 5 yrs and more than likely with a NMC. You better believe he will overpay to get Fowler. This guy did give a 1st rounder for KFQ. -

It's a horrible contract. Period. It's not like it's a 1 or 2 yr thing either. It's 5 ******* yrs of horrible contract. There will be a NMC or NTC, then it'll be an even more horrible contract. -

That's too funny! I knew ducks needed a goalie, as a matter of fact I mentioned packaging Howard for Fowler a couple months ago. I guess Holland feels jimmy and his cap are far more valuable than a draft pick. All bitching aside about helm, Howard is the real waste of money. Damn I wish Holland wasn't so stupid when it comes to his players. Coreau has to go through waivers, I hope someone snags him just to spite.
