Smith will be a UFA after the season, he may not need to be protected... Even if he was left unprotected, and claimed by Vegas, he could just go UFA July 1 and re-sign here. Not sure how UFA status will work, but I am sure the selecting team wouldn't want to claim anyone who may not be interested in siging a contract with them. -
Who do you have as the top 5 Wings of all time..
LeftWinger replied to shocky2002's topic in General
Steve only had 9 more playoff points than Fedorov, yet played in 32 more playoff games. Fedorov was and is the best playoff performer in Detroit Red Wings history. Yzerman is actually a career -11 in the playoff and Fedorov is a +38. Yzerman was great, but Fedorov was better. -
Signed Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit

He for sure needs to be protected, automatically. But I guess if they had landed Stamkos he would've been too. Not sure on the list, not sure of the rules. 2 yrs or less are safe? -

For those of you who didn't like the term of this contract, sit down, because he got the dreaded NMC included. God I hope he didn't give one to Helm.....ugh! -

I'm seeing that Yerman has his work cut out for him, he has to re-sign all of Nesterov, Namestikov, Kucherov and Killhorn all under $12M in the remaining cap.. Probably could be done if they all agree to bridge deals, but honestly with the market, they all probably deserve $4M-$5M. Hell, Kucherov had 30 goals amng 66 pionts! He has 29 goals among 65 points the year prior! Thats money in todays NHL! -

i also think if he could make a deal for Barrie, that may score him some points...but if any of these trades include Mantha or AA, I think that would bury him even deeper. I'd also like to see him try to get Joe Morrow (RFA) into the organization. -

at Hudler still not being signed by anyone. I'm surprised Versteeg is still out there as is Gagner. On the D, surprising that Russell, Schultz, Schenn and Jackman are still out there. -

I have been and will be a huge Holland critic. For not getting a shot at Stamkos, I think he did pretty well on the 1st. I hate the Helm deal, but at least Franzen cap will wash it out come LTIR. I think, for most, Holland needs to make a trade that solidifies his D. Shatt, Fowler or Trouba would be huge for him. Also, if he could find a way to dump E and Howard, that would do wonders for his fan rep right now. As for who is dealt. The two mentioned above and Nyquist would be my choice to go,that would be super in my eyes. Also, if you aren't going to play them, then trade Pulkkinen and Jurco. He would also score some points if he managed to get some sort of return for the guys that seem like will have to go on waivers come October. -
Yes. I don't think this guy even posted too much more or before that, he just rolled in, laid down perhaps the absolute best post game meltdown that we've ever seen in these parts and split! It seems like yesterday, but dang it was 2012? Wow! It looks like his last active was around April of 2012. maybe he'll make an appearance again sometime!

...so, Tatar is better, but Nyquist will be kept instead. Ya, that sounds like Holland. -
Signed Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit

If he still qualifies, I think given 17+ mins a game, AA could have a great run at 2nd place in the Calder voting. We all know Mathews is the winner already. Although he is American, so that takes a few points away from him...AA is Canadian, he gets bonus points, but playing for the hated Wings takes some away too... -

Just an FYI, vezina is for goalies, Selke is for best defensive forward and Calder is Rookie of the Year....lol, I guess you were dreaming! Rocket Richard is for most goals, I'm pretty sure Jennings is for something entirely different too! 300+ pims is not very lady bing-like. -

Nielsen will lead the team in points this year...he will have a career points outburst. Vanek will score 35 goals, 20 on the PP. Ott will get 68 games in and lead the team in hits and PIM's. Nyquist and Howard will both be traded along with one of Smith or E. Howard maybe not until the deadline. One of Pulkkinen or Jurco will not be A Red Wing to start the season. Helm and Abby will have career years along with Sheahan and Tatar. Larkin will outscore Eichel and Matthews this season. ...bold predictions part 1. -

I'm sorry, did they sign Ott or McCarty? -
This is what it means. It is said that as soon as Holland traded Pav, he reached out to Nielsen. Holland never intended to contact Stamkos, hence why we didn't meet with him. Stamkos was so upset that the only team he wanted to go to (Detroit) didn't want to sign him, he just said f*** it and went back to Tampa. That's how I read it anyway. Seriously though, Holland never intended on offering Stamkos anything, he said as soon as he could talk to UFA'S he contacted Nielsen first.

I guess Sheahan can move down to let Darren "Stonewall Hands" Helm can center the 3rd. Seriously, either way, I hope Ott earns that spot and stays. -

Not trying to be cute. That is a very good line. 4th or not, it's all about the best lines together. That being said, if, because of his salary, helm sees even a minute of top 6, Blashill should be fired. If AA and Mantha play well enough to be on the team, miller will be in gr. Lol, ya, who am I kidding?!?! -

If signing Stamkos would've been an A+, these 3 signed today is a solid B+. Helm is C-....
