It's been awhile since we heard that Holland offered contracts to Miller and Helm. You'd have to think the offers were well below market or one or both would've signed by now. I have to think that they are going to test the market. Adios, if you ask me...

IMO, this team is better with Stamkos and Ladd than Stamkos and Nyquist. Adding Gustav to the trade will make teams jump at it more than Pulkkinen.

Don't forget you'd also be clearing Nyquist salary, which will help lesson the hurt of having to keep Howard on board if he can't be traded. Me too, but if we land Stamkos for $10m, maybe another forward for $5m, plus a defenseman, then his cap is needed.

I am going with the idea that Holland makes this trade after he signs Stamkos. Of course it's a lot to give up with no guarantee. But it wasn't said in the quote that the trade would be made before July 1. As a matter of fact the rest of the quote referred to being after the fact if Stamkos is signed. If we land Stamkos then a 2nd and Nyquist is well worth it.

Absolutely I would pay that price. Depending, of course, on which young player. Pulkkinen, Jurco, Nyquist, Tatar yes. Mantha, AA, Larkin no.Trade Pav, Nyquist, 2nd. That is fine with me. We'll worth opening all that cap room. It is well known that we aren't looking for depth, we are looking for impact top players. This kukla guy just doesn't have a clue. I prefer to listen to what McKenzie, Dregger, et al have to say over a blogger. I know it was a quote, but you left out the last part. If they do land Stamkos, he would be more willing to make that sort of deal.

Please, no more Helm debates! (Says the man who used to mention Franzen every chance he got!) I would definitely protect Jurco before Glenny, but I think neither would be taken by an expansion team. Not with one or both of Nyquist and Tatar left unprotected...

Just what I was thinking. Throw the bank at whomever you are going after on July 1, then make the Pav deal when you know which asset you're comfortable letting go. I still say we should pursue Fowler. Basically a hometown kid. Not sure the cost though. They probably don't need Pav's cap nor Howard.

I wouldn't want to give up what it will take to get him. Unless we have a backup plan, I guess if they'd take Mantha, Nyquist, Smith, Pulkkinen and our 1st. I'd be ok with that as long as we could acquire a youngster to replace Mantha, like maybe Rychel. I'd hate to lose Mantha, but he'd love to go there, the fans and media would love him there and Subban would help tremendously here. I think it would be more expensive than that though.

I'd love to list players, but this is probably a better question best answered after the "Summer of Change." I'd they land Stamkos, Ladd and acquire Trouba let's say, you know they will be protected. Stamkos contract may come with the automatically protected NMC. I'm sure he'll have one.

Right now, I trade Pav, Howard, Pulk and Nyquist to Anaheim for Fowler.

If indeed teams want AA then no is the answer. Trade Howard and E and that'll free up money for Stamkos. Especially with Franzen being off the books come October as well. Holland could even shop Nyquist around if needed.

Howard/Pav/Pulkkinen/Pick for Wideman. It looks like we lose that trade, but we really win.

If Holland does not trade Pav and Howard, he should be fired.

Lucic seems quite a possibility. Wings will pay up for him. Dream time... Trade Howard for Wideman. Trade Ericsson for a pick. Trade Pav/prospect for pick. Sign Stamkos, sign Lucic.

I know that Holland doesn't want to give away too much in order to clear the contract, but look at it this way, if NOT losing someone like Pulkkinen and a 2nd round pick lets say is more important than not having a chance at Stamkos, then he needs to be fired. He'll probably be successful in trading Howard, but he won't be able to trade Ericsson, so unless he gets rid of Pavel along with Howard, there is 0 chance at landing Stamkos...or any UFA that will make this team better. You get one chance to land a player like Stamkos. Like I said, if keeping Pulkkinen and a pick that may never make the NHL, then he has to go. Not saying thats the deal, but in order to get the free cap hit, Pulkkinen and a pick is MORE than enough. If they are talking Mantha or AA, then there better be a prime player coming back. Pavel - Pulkkinen - Pick is plenty enough for any cap cellar team. If Holland wont give that up, fire him. If teams expect more than that, then I guess we're screwed for ANY quality UFA.

Gonna say it again. If Holland fails to trade that contract he needs to be fired. Period.

Jeff Riger is a good source. But we were all 90% sure it was going to be Carolina and a young player was going with him. Pav/Pulk for maybe a 7th round sounds ok.

The trade should be Pav and Pulk, but knowing Holland, it'll be Pav/Pulk/Pick at least. How About Howard to Buffalo for Franson? Sounds like a Holland deal...

Could you imagine the price it would cost to acquire Malkin? I'm not giving up Larkin...AA neither. But, could you imagine Malkin here, then Radulov to play with him? Hmmmm......

Don't know why Holland is waiting until he talks to Pav before he makes some mives. It's not like he is going to be able to change his mind. Pav Already Said He'd waive his clause to help move the cap hit. Get moving Holland!
