Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs
LeftWinger replied to jdwheelz's topic in General
Maybe, but does it include money you made in the US if you don't earn money there anymore? Whatever the case, it just sounded like another interesting aspect of it. Plus, like I said, this guy is legit and has had some dead on information before. The thing is, Holland has no hold on him to tell him to take a hike. It's just like if they trade him with the intention of him not playing, the team suspends him without pay. If he leaves, Holland's official route is to suspend him for not upholding his contract. That's whether or not it is a amicable decision between the two. Pav leaves, the procedure that must be followed is suspension without pay. That's the way it has to happen. -
Ok, same friend, same source within the organization. According to him, the fans aren't the only ones at their wits end with Holland. The scouts are livid and are trying to convince him the team needs to be bigger and harder to play against. Holland's stance is he still believes he can win with small, skilled, faster players and is against that type of change...also the Ilitches are also getting frustrated with it, so yes, the Ilitches do care about more than just the streak, they want more Cups. I hope this results in either Holland stepping aside or maybe he breaks his stance on the small skilled bulls***.

Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs

Ok, just talked a friend who knows some folks within the Wings scouting and training staff. I know, I know...it's just some info that I found very interesting, but I know how it sounds...friend of a friend, etc...etc... Anyhow, Pavel is returning to Russia because as long as he is making US dollars within the US, his ex wife can get her share of it under the laws of the US. In Russia, their law forbids that from happening. So if he moved back, gives up his last year of pay, she gets nothing. Take it how you may and say what you will, but I trust this guy and he has some good contacts within the organization. -
We need a GM with balls. Look at Pit, made huge personnel decisions and they're going great.
-
Ok, so, trade whatever to make space....Howard and Pav's contract are a must trade. IF Blashill doesn't like to play Smth, Pulk or Jurco, then trade them as well... Sign Backes, Okposo and Yandle (and a competent Backup goalie.) Promote the rest from within, game on.

While I agree this is the most likely scenario, but we won't be able to re-sign Richards or KFQ because of all the raises and Holland's refusal to trade Pav's $7.5M contract. So, we won't be able to afford Richards and KFQ....possibly not even Helm. -
Trade Howard, Ericsson, Nyquist, Smith, Jurco and Pulkkinen for more draft picks. Go after one or two of Stamkos, Okposo, Staal, Backes up front and go balls in deep for Yandle. Best case scenario, you get 2-3 players that instantly make your team a solid playoff team. Worst case, you get none of them and you promote your deserving kids to full time and are really no worse th a new you were this season. Oh, and don't re-sign the UFA'S. Helm only if it's $3M or less.

Just saw the GWG, sorry, SWG. So many things went wrong. A fan of the puck by a usually solid puck handling goalie, but mostly lazy play by Kronwall and Ericsson. Ericsson just looked at the puck and acted with no sense of urgency and Kronwall was late covering his man, and still no sense of urgency. E should've hit the guy, held him up a bit, Kronwall could've crosschecked the guy to the ice, held him, something. Puck dribbled over the line anyhow, a bit more disruption and maybe he gets even less on it. That series winning, err, losing goal epitomizes the year those two had and where their careers have gone. Pathetic. -

f*** Ken Holland. 0:00 for AA in the 3rd? Really? Did I read that correct? f*** Jeff Blashill. -
True Green is great. I use that stuff on my lawn all the time! Don't know where you're buying it, but my treatment doesn't cost me $6M a year.

Won't be watching, but Go Wings anyhow. f*** Ken Holland. -
Actually I didn't mind the Franzen signing until July when they couldn't come to terms with Hossa. I think, if I recall, they were also negotiating with Hudler and offering him over $3.5M. So I don't think Holland had any intentions to re-sign Hossa at all. Once that realization also set in, that's when I went nuts...to say the least! Even then Holland was picking his mediocre homegrown players over better ones.

Not this fan. But that's an old debate!

Not that he'll ever be traded anyhow, but Z doesn't have any clauses on his contract. NTC's are really nothing. Time and time again, players with NTC/NMC get traded, year after year. If you have a good GM, anyone can be traded. A NTC just gurantees a player that they can control where they get traded to. Jimmy will get traded, and if Holland has any sights set on making this team good again, he will trade E and Pav's contract when/if he leaves next week. Z is an enigma. He can still contribute, but it has to be at a lessor role with much less icetime. 3rd line would be the ideal spot. Holland needs to address this in the summer or else. We seem to have found, at least it looks that way, a nice line combo that has great chemistry and can be a shutdown unit in Abby - Glenny - Sheahan, moving forward for the rest of their careers, this could be an outstanding 4th line. Holland needs to trade the fat that has no future here in the resurgence of this franchise. E, Howard, Smith (unless he starts to get he icetime again, because he is useless in the press box) one of Nyquist/Tatar and Pulkkinen and Jurco. I say, do not re-sign the UFA's, especially KFQ, and if Helm comes cheap, fine, but let Ricahrds go, no offense and nothing against him, its just time to give the kids the show. Holland does need to land a #1 center/winger to replace Pav and Z. Plus he needs to get a legit offensive D-Man. I am going to maintain that Stamkos and Yandle are the two he should go after at all cost. I'd even try to get Backes as well. Of course will there be enough money? That's all on Holland. Trade all these players for picks. Stockpile them up. Cut your payroll immensely and then get the guys you need.

It's fine. I was generalizing our Swedish players, but I guess it came off like I was generalizing all Swedish players. My mistake for not calling them out by name. -

Does anyone still think Drouin is bad? If he is still on the block after the season, is be all over trying to acquire him. I'd still be trying to get Rychel too. But we'll save that for another thread. "2016 Draft" and "UFA Thread." -
Saddest thing is, The Wings have the second highest payroll in the NHL, factor in Franzen a money and they are tops. That's the problem. When you have the highest payroll in the league and barely make they playoffs and can't score more than 2 goals or score a PP goal or stop a PK, etc...something is wrong. That something is Ken Holland. He gave way too much money to mediocre players and much too long of contracts and too many NTC'S. Even if Holland could find takers for Howard or Ericsson, he'll for sure have to retain salary. Thus hindering our cap.

I agree. If I was Pav, I'd ask to leave now. He is just as broken as Z, but you'd think the would rally and show more umph for what could possibly have been his last game at the Joe. Outside of the Glenny line (which I like) and AA along with Larkin, it was a pretty lackluster showing from the rest of the team considering that fact. I wish we had some D that could get the puck to the net. Maybe try Smith on the PP next game? Not sure if he played there tonight.
