TITLE CHANGE - 2025 UFA/RFA July 1! (plus summer trades)

Well, maybe not.... He's getting s*** done (Yzerman) that's for sure. Next up, Soderblom and Kane

TITLE CHANGE - 2025 UFA/RFA July 1! (plus summer trades)

I believe Berggren gets traded and TWO of Rasmussen, Copp and Compher. If there is a Miller trade, I think Buium just may be headed out before Wallinder, but either one for sure. I really don't think Yzerman will trade a 1st unless he gets a second one somehow, so if a 1st is in the price of Miller or Andersson, I feel that would be a no deal. Montreal needs to shed cap, would you be interested in 1 year of Laine? ALSO: Geezus! That's a lot of dough for him! Edmonton now $500k away from cap, would you take Ekholm for the year?

Ekblad indeed has re-signed in Florida.... hmmm... Still need to RHD upgrade, I wonder how much Andersson would cost. Maybe trade for Miller and Andersson instead of signing UFA's. Still would like Howard's rights too....

What if Yzerman is able to somehow acquire EP40, without gutting the farm, and then Larkin slides over to LW? Larkin - EP40 - Raymond That would be a deadly top line. I bet if Yzerman is willing to take on all $11.5M of that contract, it wouldn't be as expensive of a return as one would think. ALSO: Top 75 available UFA's and their AFP projected contracts:

Quote myself! I still think Yzerman is in on Andersson and Miller. If he trades for one or both of those guys, he won't need a big July 1, except for that top line forward.

I really wouldn't mind bringing disney.com back for a year to anchor the 4th line. He'd be sub 1 million.

Albert Johansson has been re-signed, 2 yrs $1.125M per. I'd expect about the same for Soderblom. Why not go for Gavrikov, Ekland AND Ehlers? You have $22M to spend. I am sure if Yzerman could land those three, Kane would give a bit of a discount too. Kane 2x$3M?

  9. In a groundbreaking twist, the 2025 NHL Draft emerges as a pivotal moment in hockey history, featuring an innovative decentralized format that redefines the game. Mark your calendars for June 27th-28th, as the excitement kicks off with the lottery just a month prior, ushering in a new era of selecting the sport’s future stars. Gone are the chaotic arenas pulsing with the thrill of management teams, scouts, and media competing for a glimpse of the next big names. Instead, every one of the 32 franchises will retreat to their own strategy hubs in their home cities, crafting a distinctive atmosphere that allows local fans to connect from afar. A select few elite prospects will grace the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, creating a more personal gathering under the spotlight. While previous drafts showcased standout talents like Connor Bedard and Macklin Celebrini, 2025 brings an enticing mix of uncertainty and excitement. Scouts find themselves divided, torn between the dynamic play of Matthew Schaefer, reminiscent of Cale Makar, and the strategic prowess of James Hagens. Porter Martone’s powerful presence as a forward generates buzz, while Michael Misa dazzles with his extraordinary goal-scoring skills. The absence of a clear frontrunner adds to the tension, making each selection potentially transformative. This draft is set to underscore not just individual talent but also the strategic maneuvering of teams, particularly with the unique lottery rules at play. With franchises permitted only two lottery wins over five years, the challenge is a thrilling blend of chance and expertise. The unpredictability of this process was highlighted by the 2020 draft when the New York Rangers defied expectations, clinching Alexis Lafreniere despite having the 14th-best odds. As anticipation builds, teams prepare to traverse the unpredictable currents of the draft, aiming to discover the next wave of talent. The 2025 NHL Entry Draft, now in its 63rd chapter, promises to be unforgettable. With a novel format and unmatched depth, it’s gearing up to etch its name in the annals of hockey history. As summer approaches, the thrill radiating from Los Angeles is set to reach an electrifying crescendo, captivating fans and players across the hockey universe. 2025 NHL Draft - June 27-28 ; To Tank or Not To Tank

Now we Need a top line LW, a LHD and a RHD and we'll be looking pretty solid.

2025 NHL Draft - June 27-28 ; To Tank or Not To Tank

    Gibson to Detroit for Mrazek, 2027 2nd, 2026 4th.
  13. I'm hoping Malcom Spence is still there when we pick in round 2. Steve Probably won't take him, but it would be a really good pick.
  14. Well, let's hope Yzerman has some UFA magic to weave.

TITLE CHANGE - 2025 UFA/RFA July 1! (plus summer trades)

I'm gonna hold out hope that Yzerman has something happening. Both in trade and UFA. He has to, right? He's gotta be on the hotseat, right?

Who Hoists First? Wings or Ducks?

My thoughts are the Ducks for sure. They're young talent is better than ours. At this pace the Yzerplan is moving, I'll never see another Cup in my life. He is wasting Larkin's career.

Oh s***, he we go! Yzerman has re-signed William Lagesson to a 2 year extension! In all seriousness, I'm pretty disappointed in Steve Yzerman. I guess the draft is still ahead, so he could still move the #13 and UFA is around the corner. But damn, he could've matched or bettered a few of these trades and we'd be a better team today.

Dobson going to MTL along with an 7 year extension at $9.5M. I haven't seen the return yet. Edit: now thats a bold move! I wish our GM had balls like this!

TITLE CHANGE - 2025 UFA/RFA July 1! (plus summer trades)

I'm honestly expecting no moves by Yzerman in the trade market. He'll just draft another 4 year development at 13 again.

Yep. I wonder what a Detroit equivalent would've been?

2025 NHL Draft - June 27-28 ; To Tank or Not To Tank

I tend to agree. If we aren't trading for a D, we could easily fill and LHD and a RHD via UFA. Then we could trade the 1st(s) and players for a top line upgrade. But I'm sorry, ASP and MBN are not on my table. They are our near future. Wallinder and Buium I am ok with using in a package. Along with Berggren, Rasmussen, Tarasenko, Holl, Mrazek, Compher, etc... Lindgren 5x$6M Ekblad 5x$8M those two signings would make our D better, harder to play against, and Lindgren is a penalty kill specialist. Plus it will make our future team better. This year: Edvinsson - Seider Lindgren - Ekblad Chiarot - Johansson Gustafsson Next Year: Edvinsson - Seider Lindgren - Ekblad Johansson - ASP (random 7th D) I buy out Holl and Tarasenko before June 30, just cut ties, no need to attempt to trade, nobody wants to give anything for them.

TITLE CHANGE - 2025 UFA/RFA July 1! (plus summer trades)

I wonder what the return for Rasmus Andersson would look like. Although I do believe, via trade, we need a LHD to fill the top 4. Maybe Yzerman addresses both LHD and RHD via UFA? Gavrikov, Provorov, or Lindgrin on the left and Ekblad on the right?

TITLE CHANGE - 2025 UFA/RFA July 1! (plus summer trades)

For either Hague or Dobson, I'd give a 1st, D prospect (Tuomisto, Wallinder) and maybe a lower pick (3rd?) Robo or Peterka, I'd give two 1sts, prospect (Danielson) and NHL player (Berggren or Soderblom) I have ZERO issue paying up in order to acquire someone. I know we only have so many 1sts to toss around, but getting TWO of these players (one up front and one on D) would turn this team right around! We really aren't going to miss a couple of 1sts with our prospect depth. May take more or less, but point is, we have the assets, the cap, and the need to acquire a top winger and a top D. Somehow, someway, Yzerman needs to do so or it'll be another year of crap. I'd prefer a LHD. Trade for Hague or Miller, sign Ekblad (if he'd come home) for RHD. Robo or Peterka are interchangeable. They'd both be expensive to acquire and to re-sign. At least Robo has a year left.
