TDL Scenarios by Leftwinger... Just throwing stuff out there. With Toronto needing help on D, what would you think about a trade between us and them centered around Holl and Bertuzzi? Holl has an M-NTC and Bertuzzi has an NMC, so of course there'd have to be some waiving going. Toronto would get D help for their playoff run and we'd get Bertuzzi back for our playoff push. We may not be able to re-sign Bertuzzi, but at least for this season, we could reunite him with Larkin and Raymond for some improved offense, and maybe he gets all the good feels from the crowd cheering his return and does re-sign. I am sure Toronto wouldn't miss his 22 points that he has put up thus far. Plus, it would free up a couple more million dollars for them to make more changes. I'm not about helping Toronto out, but more so about getting Bertuzzi back to form with his buddies and solidifying us into a playoff spot. Now before you ask about our D, I am also throwing out the scenario (talked about a lot here) with either Ottawa or Calgary involving Berggren and Chychrun/Hanafin. But alternatively, I'm just wondering, would you consider Rasmus Andersson from Calgary instead of Hanafin? He has 2 more years left on a pretty cheap contract @ $4.55M. I still believe that Petry will be bought out over the summer, making room for Edvinsson to take a spot. Making next year's D look something like: Walman - Seider Edvinsson - Andersson (Hanafin/Chychrun) Maatta - Chiarot These are just the names involved, obviously there'd be more parts involved, but I do believe this would help Detroit stay in the playoffs and make even a bigger impact next season. Next season up front, I have a feeling that Sprong is going to price himself out of Detroit, and Perron just might be a victim of numbers (wouldn't mind him taking a coaching position in the team in some capacity.) If they did manage to re-sign Bertuzzi (both sides happily) and Kane, this would be killer Top 6 with Compher the #2C. Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond Kane - Compher - DeBrincat I think they definitely need to upgrade the G position as well, but maybe that could be stealing Markstrom right out from everyone's noses in the Andersson(Hanafin) package!

Make the Hanifin trade early so he can suit up!

We need a top 6 forward, and a better defenseman. Players I'd be ok with dealing include Rasmussen and Veleno. Not knocking them, but you gotta pay to get. I'd really like to hear some of the offers for Berggren. If indeed he'd get us something we really need, then we might have to say goodbye. Edit: I thought the wrong goalie let in the 7 goals. -

somewhere out there I saw an article (certainly not TSN) saying that Holland might be interested in Perron. I will try to find it and add it to this post. Maybe if he is, this may be the game that triggers it? https://oilonwhyte.com/posts/edmonton-oilers-make-move-david-perron -

Ok, hypothetically, if Berggren is being dealt for a D-man, would you rather it be Chychrun or Hanifin? Chychrun is younger, and has another year left of his contract.

AGE: 25 CAP HIT: $4.6M 6. Jakob Chychrun, LD - Ottawa Senators It wouldn’t be a trade deadline without Chychrun on the Trade Watch List. Only now, he’s in Ottawa. Sens GM Steve Staios tried to calm the public waters, but as TFP’s David Pagnotta reported on Jan. 15, the Senators are listening and willing to consider trading him. TEAMS REPORTEDLY LINKED: Washington, Calgary, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Detroit AGE: 29 CAP HIT: $3.65M 13. Frank Vatrano, RW - Anaheim Ducks Vatrano will draw interest from contenders looking for more goal-scoring. He is on pace for a career-year offensively and is signed through the 2024-25 campaign. His price tag will be high and the Ducks are in no rush to move him, but teams will continue to call. TEAMS REPORTEDLY LINKED: Detroit, NY Islanders AGE: 23 CAP HIT: $925,000 24. Jonatan Berggren, LW - Detroit Red Wings As TFP’s David Pagnotta first reported in early-December, the Red Wings have been dangling Berggren as trade bait and seem willing to move him in the right deal. His entry-level contract expires after this season. TEAMS REPORTEDLY LINKED: Montreal, Ottawa https://www.thefourthperiod.com/trade-watch-list-2024 I have a feeling there is going to be a Berggren - Chychrun trade package coming up. As long as Detroit is not on his 10-team no-trade list that is! I am sure he would welcome a trade to Detroit though! What are your packages? We'd be giving them needed cap relief too, so that can be considered. BUT, will Ottawa's new GM allow another Yzerman fleecing? Does it work 1 for 1? Does Yzerman throw in a 2nd or 3rd round pick? Another player?

Still haven't seen any TSN guy report the Monahan deal. I've been checking X. Edit: I see it on capfriendly
-
Yep. I mean having all of Hanifin, Chychrun, Stamkos, and Kane. Just not enough cap. Unless OTT retains 50%, and the UFA'S sign for $5M or less! ....and, well, that ain't happening! It sure would be nice to have both of those defenders though!

Tkachuk is ready to play!

There will be a Berggren for Chychrun trade coming up. (more included obviously) No to Kaako. Wings may not be able to re-sign Sprong, but they will re-sign Kane and then replace Sprong with somebody else. More than likely Stamkos. I don't think they re-sign any other UFA. Perron, Fischer, Ghost, Reimer, all gone one way or another. Hanifin is a UFA this summer, could you imagine if Detroit could dump a D or 2 (in addition to Petry buyout) and sign him (along with the trade for Chychrun) and promote Edvinsson? Yzerman is not afraid to buy out a 3-year deal, he did it to Abdelkader. If he was able to secure Chychrun AND Hanifin, I could see a Petry and another buy out. Unless Maatta is traded, he doesn't have any clauses. Not sure they could afford those two though with Seider and Raymond getting PAID! edit: Nevermind, I cannot get it to work, since Hanifin will most like get a big raise in UFA. Not unless we can convince OTT to retain 50% on Chychrun....
-
There will be room. Edvinsson will finish the season in GR. This summer Petry will be bought out, and Chiarot will be 7th defenseman if Edvinsson makes the club. Maybe another D is dealt...
-
He asked for a source stating that they asked for Edvinsson and Yzerman offered Johansson. All that you provided was an article saying Pitt might trade him. No mention of Detroit, Yzerman, Edvinsson, Johansson. So no, you didn't provide a source to your RUMOR as asked.
-
That does not mention Detroit at all.
-
Bold Prediction. Jakob Chychrun will a Detroit Red Wing come TDL. It might cost Berggren though.
-
Another rumor is that Jacob Chychrun may be on the move by the deadline. Do you think there'd be any interest from Yzerman? I am sure it would be more costly than Debrincat this time around, but what do you think?
-
Honestly, I do believe the talk was that the pick was going to be Bouchard. Hughes was just talked about a lot because of the Michigan connection of course and the fact that he had a relationship with Blashill already with Team USA.
-
Here's a 2018 redraft sorted by points. The only one doing worse is Hayton in Arizona. But he had 43 points last season and has been injured all but 16 games this season. Zandina has never topped 25 points and Hayton only has 2 points less in 40 less games played. EVERY defenseman that was being talked about as a possibility is doing better, and has more points. Hughes, Bouchard, Dobson, and even Boqvist. Zadina is by far, the biggest bust of the 2018 draft...Thanks Holland.
-
Yzerman will not give up anything that would constitute a "loss" in the deal. That being said, since Zegras would probably indeed cost us something we don't want to give up, Yzerman will not make a deal.
-
You said it right here. Everyone in the hockey world knew that D was the better fit for what Detroit needed. Holland thought he was getting one over on everyone. He should've been like the previous teams and drafted to "better fit a need." Defense.
