I think this might be finally it for the Mule, Sadly

From the sounds of that article Opie posted, it doesn't look good. I guess he will at least have the 7 minimum games to sit out and try to get his head together. Maybe give it another go, but if symptoms return again, I would think he would call it.

I think 99% of us could cover the Red Wings better than St. James...we'd for sure have WAY more interesting tweets and articles! How the f*** did she get that job?

Blame it on my 45 year old eyes! On the GDT graphic, to me, the next game looks like its says 2, but after further review and a whole lot of squinting, I see the 7! Disregard and carry on!

Ugh, Glenn has an injury? Man, we just cant catch a break! Anyhow, once again, I won't be able to watch during my commute to Detroit. But as always GO WINGS! Show this team that last week was a fluke! Talk about stupid scheduling, tomorrow Montreal game is on at 2pm EST? Going to have some folks turning off the game when MSU/Michigan starts at 3:30.

Why Is The Joe Half Empty?

I just think it is fickle fans...there should be a waiver you sign that says you will attend every game if you buy season tickets...I know, that's impossible, but its the season ticket holders that don't show up to every game, most of the lower bowl are season ticket holders. There is no excuse as to why the home opener wasn't full. In my day, the only games that had that many open seats were games against bottom dwellers. Of course the economy is not so rosy for a majority of blue collar hockey fans either. Prices for tickets, pizza, pops, beer, parking all go up at a faster percentage than folks wages. Couple that with the price of other things going up faster than wages as well and that explains why the Joe isn't full. Folks just cannot afford to buy remaining tickets as readily nor from the season ticket holders who are trying to re-coup their money for the game. Put that together with the season ticket holders who only go to 2 out of 4 games and only the premium games, therer you have it. Plus doesn't preiums team games cost more than regular games? Home opener, New Years Eve, Colorado, Toronto, Tampa, Chicago, etc..for example cost more than Florida, Carolina, Winnipeg, etc...

    Roster Moves by the Wings

In Jesusberg's defense, his post was on Oct. 4th, before Larkin took the NHL by storm, before Cleary was waived, before Franzen re-symptonized and before everyone in the NHL realized that The Red Wings just will not disappear! If he did a roster today, guarantee Larkin would be on it and Jurco or Ferraro would be sitting. Outside of a few people who had hoped Larkin got a spot, I don't think many predicted that he would grab that spot and bump (healthy)veteran's out of the lineup on a nightly basis.

jfranzen - He ain't dead, wear that jersey with pride! Johan gave his all to this team when he could, he was probably 3rd runner up to the Smythe Trophy in 08 and tried his best thus far this season. He may make it back, but he will stay away until he knows its right. He probably rushed it a bit this time, considering that doctors had said he wasn't 100% good, but could give it a go. Next time I bet he waits for docs to give him the 100% A OK to go, if that comes, then cool, it helps the team, if that day never comes, then fine, that also helps the team and saves him from worsening his head issues...

Franzen also said in an interview that if he gets his symptons back, he feels that could be a career for him. Precautionary is good though. Like I said, he actually looked like he belonged out there, he definitely did not hurt the team, he wasn't floating and had some good scoring chances. BUT if his symptoms come back from just over exertion, can you imagine what will happen if he gets rocked one night? He is a smart person, he will stay away until he feels the same as he did at the end of summer, for his sake, lets hope it doesn't take another 6 months, or he could very well, be done. on a side note, I am sure glad I didn't start or name this thread! I'd be getting destroyed right now! (rightly so, I might add! I would deserve it!)

Where does Nyquist go in that line combo? They are not demoting Nyquist (a 25-30 goal scorer) for cement hands Helm. Helm needs to go on a checking line, its where he belongs and its where his lack of scoring touch will not hurt this team. Miller - Glenny - Helm is the best scenario for all parties involved. I like Ferraro, but Helm gets the spot over him. Abby - Zetterberg - Larkin Nyquist - Richards - Tatar Jurco- Sheahan - Pulkkinen Miller - Glenny - Helm Ferraro/Andersson extra. Andersson waived when Dats comes back. Line combos after that? Your guess is as good as mine! Larkin probably goes to 2nd line or 3rd line, all depends on how Nyquist and Tatar are doing together. Either way, Putting Larkin on line 2 or 3 creates 3 very good scoring lines. Unfortunately Pulk or Jurco will sit and rotate in and out with each other until one decides to run with the spot! Then if Franzen ever gets a clean bill of health again, that probably puts Ferraro on waivers...

Well at least the NHL set the precedence already with Pronger. If needed, Franzen could go on LTIR, still get his money from his contract PLUS take a job within the organization and get paid, right? Good for one, good for all?

....as Cleary waits patiently (or impatiently) by the phone... I sit around and watch the phone, but no one's calling...call me pathetic, call me what you will, my mother says to get a job, but she don't like the one she's got...etc...etc...

Ya, you never know, but I think I said he'd be back out with symptoms before December. That's ok, I expected as such. Let's get back to the subject of the thread.

I wish I knew how to search my own content...I don't recall saying it, but I am sure I did if you remember it, and yes, if I said, then I have been proven wrong thus far, he is playing very rejuvenated and he seems to have gotten his spunk back! I like when I am wrong about these things....since I admit I was wrong about this subject, are you willing to admit I was right about another player not making it to December? *** for Tat...

I guess the fat lady is singing on his career. Again, I am glad he tried. Really, I am. But I can't say the I'm surprised...

Well, the old me would have said something here, but I am just going to say, you gave it your best try Franzen, you actually looked like you belonged on the ice again. I have to say, a lot of us saw this coming, lets just be glad he tried and also we didn't lose anyone to waivers either. Moving forward this should be a great opportunity for Pulk or Jurco to come in and steal a permanent spot! What is with Helm? Was it just a shoulder injury or was there concussion symptoms as well? I honestly forgot...

Hey, from what I understand, in todays America its ok to flip flop on issues in order to get more support... Anyhow, Why should Pulk sit? Helm on the 4th line would be wonderful with Glen Miller (see what I did there?) Ferraro can be the rotating body with Jurco (or Franzen if he takes games off now and then.) If I recall, Pulk was the player who sparked the comeback win in Carolina with two goals 2 minutes apart, proving that given the opportunity, he can and will score. Abby - Z - Larkin Nyquist - Richards - Tatar Franzen/Jurco - Sheahan - Pulk MIller - Glenny - Helm

just for the record I meant to say Z isn't going to get 191 points, he just may get to 90 if he stays healthy. Silly sticky keyboard!

    10/13 GDT : Lightning 1 at Red Wings 3

I think that outside of the first 2 periods in Carolina, the Wings are playing great. Sure the top line has most of the points, but its not like the 4th line isn't doing their job and the middle two are flying around generating some chances. Pulk and Nyquist are both on the board, Tatar is getting chances, but he is also getting more coverage. I think Richards is doing what he needs to do and that is be a very solid center and create some chances. The PP is doing fine, as is the PK. The D is better than last season's D at moving the puck out of the zone and staring the play. Goalies have been on fire. I really don't think there is much to complain about. Teams have games like the one in Carolina, and goalies sometimes steal those games like Petr did. They dominated TO, stole a game in Carolina and skated all around Tampa. I watched most of it and they seemed a lot faster than Tampa for most the game. At least in my opinion. Put it this way, they didn't get outplayed by Tampa like they did by Carolina. I know he didn't score, but Jurco had some flashes of speed and a couple of nice shots on goal. Not everyone scores every game, not all lines dominate. Soon enough Richards line is going to start putting some in and Z's is going to cool down. Z is not going to get 91 points, Abby isn't going to score 109 goals and Larkin isn't getting 100 points. They will slow down and another trio will take over. Gus and Tat will get their 25-30 goals (more hopefully) and our D will start tallying points as well. I don't expect them to go undefeated obviously, but I can see them being #2-#3 in the East if not challenging for #1. They already cooled down a hot Tampa team, we'll see how they match up against MTL and NYR when the time comes. Got to watch out for CBJ and NYI as well! FLA looks good plus they had our number last season. It's going to be tough, but from what I have seen thus far, they look great and no other team has really looked too much better. I've even watch some western teams, nobody really worries me. Anaheim looks good, can't wait to see how we match up against them!

    Roster Moves by the Wings

Well, if BOTH Helm and DD are going to be healthy this weekend, its time for big time decisions! Do you go the safe route and demote the guy with waiver options or do you demote one of Andersson or Ferraro and expose them to waivers. I can see it being Andersson being waived over Larkin going to GR, that is all but obvious. Then where do you put Helm? 4th line? Who goes to the pressbox? Jurco or Ferraro? More than likely Marchenko will be demoted since he has waiver exemptions and he hasn't played yet. But he has said he doesn't want to go back to the AHL and may consider KHL ( I think I heard that somewhere.) This is going to get interesting!
