Well, that'll probably mean a kid will be on the roster to start the season (like someone said earlier, hopefully not Lashoff) as the #7 or #6 maybe? I didn't watch but I heard the XO played great in his game, and Jensen has been doing his best to prove he is ready for a shot at the NHL. I hope its only 4 weeks, but lets hope it doesn't linger on too long! We need Danny D out there, that's for sure!

I certainly hope all these tweaks and aches get worked out before the season gets into full swing! We may get to see some of the kids because of these little injuries, but it sure would be nice to see what our full NHL roster can do!

Kickazz, Nope didn't say that at all. What sucks is, back when all these contracts were handed out (and I understand the whole cap circumvention reasons) some of us as fans didn't really realize how long the contracts really were and now we all are and unfortunately these players just won't be but hollow images of themselves in 5-6 years. They cannot retire due to the CBA rule before their contract is up either, but I just said that it was nice that the new CBA put a cap on the lengths of these contracts. Just think how the Minnesota fans are going to feel in 5 or 6 years when they realize that Suter and Parise still have a 4 or 5 more years on their contracts. Hell, Jersey is still paying Kovalchuk until when, 2023 and beyond? At first we are all just happy that they signed and had a smaller cap hit, then you realize, damn, that is a long time! Z definitely does not suck, just that when the OP said Larkin just may be captain when Z leaves, it made me realize Z isn't leaving for at least 6 more years. Probably a good thing, just when you realize how long the contracts were, it kinda hits ya in the face for a minute. 9, forgive me, the way you asked if I was serious about going back through the thread its like you already pulled something up and was ready to spin it in your usual way... -

Let it be known, I did not bring him up! Franzen looked ok, typical of a guy who was out for 9 months and was just trying to survive the night. Didn't hear his name too much other than talking about his injury. Guess it was a good thing. We'll see what he says about the day after his first game. Manxy, there was nothing negative about what I said. Did I say we are STUCK with him? No, if all you want to do is attack, please ignore and move along. -

Damn, since you said that it reminded me that Z still has 6 more seasons on his contract...sure glad the CBA took care of these 10-13 year contracts. -

not normal for me to defend Howard, but he was messed with and then a player was pushed into him. Sprouly almost deflected the enough to stop it. Oh well. -

wouldn't be a o'halloren red wings game without a disallowed goal. This guy still hates us. -

damn that kid is so one dimensional...three goals this pre-season, not one was a one time slapper. Three different types as well. He has arrived. -

just caught up with the DVR, holy s***, I am going to need two or three pairs of shades for our future. When they drafted Larkin they said he was the real deal. That is putting it lightly. Damn the Pulkkamania kid, if he weren't so one dimensional he'd score more goals! -

I am gonna say this before he plays good or plays bad, I hope Franzen plays well and stays healthy that way when we waive someone at least it'll be worth while. I still don't have to like him though. -

I am gonna do my best to give Howard the respect he has earned tonight. That being said, if he gives up all those goals again in just half a game, I will call him a ninny-poop and kindly ask that he be removed from the game. -

Tonight will be Dylan Larkin's debut on the JLA ice playing for his hometown Detroit Red Wings. Stop and think about that for a minute. I know it happens all over the place from time to time, but the first shift he takes can you imagine the tears flowing from the eyes of his dad and mom? Can you just imagine for a minute all the years of practices, getting up at 3am, all the travel all the equipment purchased, all the money spent, all the memories of their child first learning how to skate using a chair or one of the newer plastic apparatus' they have now, all the tears Dylan cried when he thought he couldn't do it, he'd fall down and not want to get back up...my God, it's not only a rush of those memories because Dylan made it to the NHL, and that is overwhelming enough, 99% of the families who go through all the same motions don't even get a sniff of the NHL, but he was drafted by and is now playing for the hometown Detroit ******* Red Wings! Pardon my French. Talk about dream of dreams, Mr. and Mrs. Larkin congratulations, God bless you and let those tears flow! All the years and struggles you have endured, the times you wanted to give up or had to call in sick to work to go to the next tournament or game or parent meeting, it has all been worth it. Exhale. You deserve it. I can't even imagine the euphoria they will be feeling tonight when he steps onto that hallowed ice. It most certainly is not his first time on that ice surface, hell, even two of my son's played tourney's on that ice, but as he pulls that sweater over his head, ties his laces tight, briefly remembering how many times his father had to do it for him, maybe just one more time wishing dad would make sure they were just right so he wouldn't fall and could share in this one time moment with him. As he walks down that hallway and puts his first foot onto that ice for the first time as a Detroit Red Wing in the arena he grew up (as well as his father grew up) watching their favorite players and fantasizing about being an NHL player. You made it, you are a Detroit Red Wing....Wow. -

It's not, I love them both. Just back in the "predict 20+ goals scorers" thread a few folks predicted Nyquist to score more because he is a better player. Not a problem, I hope they both get 35+, that is why I put the ninja there, they are both great players and should be the team leaders in goals this year. But if I have to choose a player to predict to score more goals, I choose Tatar, he just seems to be more sniper-esque, while Nyquist can score as well, he seems to have more playmaker skills to his bag of tricks. Again, I love them both and want them to have long lifetime Red Wings careers! -

Wait, I thought Nyquist was the better player? He'll have his games where he is great as well, but I still believe Tatar will outscore him. Win win for Wings fans... Boy Mrazek did very good tonight, eh? Shutout. Even Coreau looked very good! Richards with the playmaker award, he is going to surprise a ton of critics! Chicago must be wondering WTF, barely beat the Griffins with the help of the refs, then their B squad gets handled by the Wings...all is good in Hockeytown. -

Hmmmm, Mrazek sure did a great job tonight in taking another step towards taking Jimmy's job. Fact: I've included Jensen on my rosters on many occasion, NOT just in the most recent thread. You are the king of looking up old posts, please do so, I may not have mention him ALL the time, but I have mentioned him tons, and way before the latest thread. Good day sir. Let's see, so far this preseason, Jimmy 3 goals against, roughly 30 minutes of play, the other 3 goalies 2 goals against in 90 minutes of play. The debate was that I did not even mention him ONCE on my roster. I said he was on my roster basically all summer, your little buddy pulled up post #4 in the lines thread and said I didn't have him on my roster, then you guys piled on with the chastising like you are some sort of sped schooler laughing and pointing that I was busted because I didn't have him on my roster. IF the debate was whether I talked about him all summer, then I would have been accused of only mentioning him in August and that is not all summer, but no, the accusation was that I never even had him on my roster NOT ONCE. This is too easy. See even when you are wrong you dig yourself deeper, I, at least, can fess up to being wrong.
