My question is, Since our gold tenders are not that great, Why are we still going with 3 of them in Detroit? Better goaltenders have been waived and they've cleared. It'll take a bit of a discount from everyone. They will have $30M-ish available in cap next year. The most expensive contract will probably be Seider. Veleno hasn't earned that huge of a raise, but he will get one for sure. Raymond earned a raise, but I think he'll settle for a bridge contract available decent (hopefully) price. Kane will get a raise, Ghost is already at $4M, he may sign for about the same. Sprong hasn't earned too much more either. I'm willing to bet Yzerman can get Stsmkos for 2-3 years at $5M. Whether or not this keeps us under the cap, I'm not sure, but, outside of the RFA'S the ordee of importance are: Kane, Sprong, Stamkos, Ghost. IMO. I'm definitely shopping Perron, Rasmussen and Maatta at the TDL if they're out of the playoffs. Buying out Petry and possibly even Husso over the summer. We need a G, a legit #1. That could be a trade as well. Which could involve another D or maybe another NHL F.

Regarding Kane, 10 games 10 points. He's doing exactly what Yzerman expected him to do. Kane chose Detroit to be here, not get traded. He'll re-sign, probably 2-3 years $5M-$6M.

I would be fine with that. But here's something to think about. With Stamkos probably going on the block, and of course with all the rumors that will be swirling with the Yzerman connection, would we have room for Berggren to get a roster spot next year? Does Yzerman acquire Stamkos via trade or wait for UFA? Edvinsson looked right at home last night on the team, where does his spot come from if they re-sign Ghost? Here's my opinion of a couple of example moves (especially if we're out of the playoffs) Trade Maatta, Rasmussen, pick to Edmonton for Bouchard and a pick. Trade Perron to a contender for a pick. Maybe Perron goes to Edmonton in the above package for a higher pick in return. I'd also help them out with acquiring some cap for even a better returned pick. Maybe Foegle? I'm not sure how important he is to them though. Fischer is not re-signed. Re-sign Kane, Ghost, Sprong. If not picked up at TDL, sign Stamkos as UFA. Buyout Petry, thus opening up a spot for Edvinsson and with the previously acquired Bouchard, making Holl the #6/7 with Chiarot. We really need to address the goaltending. Outside of possibly keeping Lyon as a backup, I don't want to see any of our G's back next season. And of course promote Berggren permanently. None of this has been run through capfriendly.com, so this may not even being possible.

I don't believe Kane is going anywhere. Probably re-signs. I can see Yzerman dealing with Edmonton for a D, but it'll probably be Bouchard. I can see Rasmussen going back. I know he fills a role, but I believe Berggren is more important to the future here.

After the big deal that was made when s***sburgh acquired Karlsson, it's so refreshing to see them struggling and out of the playoff picture right now. That being said, I don't want them anywhere near drafting Celebrini or Eiserman!

Ok, ok, I've figured out what is happening! Wings are doing the ol' Tampa Bay Lightning Circumvention trick! By next week's end, Larkin and Compher will be put on LTIR, Wings will acquire Stamkos (50% retained) Nylander (50% retained) and Hanifin (50% retained) then come playoffs, Larkin and Compher will be 100% ready to go (miraculously!) I can't believe we all haven't seen this coming! You're welcome!

I say just play balls to the wall for 60 minutes. It seems to work for 20. It's like watching the Lions score quick, then let the other team back in because they're being conservative, then executing a 2 minute offense, that cuts right through the other teams D, to win the game. Just Flippin play that way the entire game!

He is. That's why he has the job. But sometimes calling the time out stops the momentum even if it gives the opposing team the break. Maybe Granto regrets taking their timeout and stalling the momentum plus giving Detroit a longer rest. I understand what you're saying, but sometimes the message sent outweighs the extra rest for the other team. If it doesn't work, so be it, but it just makes sense to try to settle the team down. Rangers, Montreal, Buffalo, all games we let them back in the game in the 3rd. I'm just saying I'd like to see the coach use it as a tool more often in these situations.

Well, when the team is running around and losing control of the game, blowing 3 and 4 goal leads, taking bad penalties, doesn't it make sense to call it and settle them down? I just want to see coach make that move when nothing is working. That's one of the things it's used for.
