This reminds me when the Wings poached Coffey out of LA for fallen center-man Carson. He was pure offense, D was a bit of a question. Not to worry, Coffey scored so much here that he won a Norris during his time. Green has been close to winning before, but I predict that he WILL win a Norris within his three year contract. I also predict he will never leave Detroit, he will retire a Red Wing. ...besides, most players who sign here or are traded here do. I really don't think that the outside interference will be that bad...They have prostitution and strip clubs in EVERY city they travel to. Some cities have gambling in them, so its not like that will be something new. It's all in how they conduct themselves. They STILL have team curfews no matter which city they are in, and if they break those, they get fined or benched or disciplined another way. They still don't want to blow all their money on gambling (at least I wouldn't want to) so I am sure MOST players would be frugal enough to cut it off at a certain point. I get it though, Las Vegas, Sin City, parties abundant! Porn Stars! Sex Clubs! Blah, Blah...like its been said, most, if not all of those temptations are available everywhere in North America. I understand that its more available there, but, if anything, teams may have even MORE team rules while they are in Vegas, just to keep the players in check more... I don't want to see expansion (although it may rid my team of a useless player (but that is another story)) but if Arizona moved there, I wouldn't be mad, nor would I be worried about the players getting out of hand after the game.

I thought about that, but then he went on to play 60 games the next season, 34 (due to injury) the next and then 73 his final season with Detroit. Didn't figured that sounded too much like a doghouse player, but with Bowman, stranger things have happened!

My in-laws lived and worked in Vegas for 10 years (they JUST moved back to South Florida) and they did just that, lived and worked. They gambled once in a bit, but it's not like its was an every night party that most would think it would be....now when they had visitors from out of town, that was a-whole-nother story...

Honestly though, just how much is Pitt a contender anymore? Ya, I know, injuries, but before our injuries last season, we were tied for 1st overall in the NHL, and most insiders don't/didn't consider Detroit a contender. That being said, I do think the additions (and subtractions) this summer makes Detroit a step or two closer to contending. Sure, the addition of Kessel makes the Pens a bit better up front, but they did lose some players that worked hard for that team, Kessel has never been accused of working hard. I can see players choosing Pitt over Detroit in todays NHL, but IMO, I don't think they are that much closer or we are that much further away from contending...plus its not like they have a ton of cap space either. I am not saying anyone else is coming to Detroit, but I think there are plenty "better" teams out there that are closer to the Cup than Pitt, that Franson would be looking at (if he takes a cheap 1 year deal to win) before the Pens...The Ducks have over $12M in cap space with only 22 roster spots taken up...

Expansion in Quebec more than likely means Detroit back to the West...This alone is why we need expansion in the West somewhere.

What is failed to been realized here is, its really not whether or not Mrazek is better than Jimmy (which he is) its the fact that the Red Wings cannot and will not have two goalies on the roster making $5M each after this season...when considering the future and the talent/age of each player, Jimmy will be the one to be dealt, not Petr. ...so anyway, UFA's still be signed, I guess Franson still has a chance!

What is all this talk about waiving Mrazek? You are too funny! The Jimmy Howard Show? Get bent...that showed "jumped the shark" two seasons ago. I believe that Jimmy will NOT be a Red Wing past the deadline or next summer. His time here is over. Waive Mrazek....WTF, you are the same folks still waiting for 2008 Franzen to make a return...

contracts are getting out of control...Stamkos is worth this, Voracek? Nyet. Crosby, yes, ROR, nien. Market is going out of this universe again. But, these guys are still nowhere near the other sports, especially when a under .500 pitcher with an ERA of 4+ makes $10M+ a year, something is wrong. Don't even get me going on the NBA...

I like our D, BUT, if we could shed E's albatross contract and Kindl and sign Franson and Ehrhoff to 1 year deals for a mid level salary, that would be wonderous for the upgrade of our kids next season...plus I think the D would be slightly better this season.

There will be room for him if indeed Franzen is out along with Dats...problem is, when Dats comes back, we go up to 15 forwards, THEN who gets waived? Will Callahan even being playing, he will essentially be splitting time with Ferraro and Andersson as the occasional 12th guy on the 4th line. Unless there is an injury, I don't see any of them outright beating none of Miller, Glenny or Helm for the 4th line minutes...or Jurco for that matter if he starts on the 4th. (which I hope is not the case.) And then IF Franzen gets healthy, only one of them can stay...something is afoot at the Circle K...

when USA hockey decides that Pitt is the place to move their headquarters and hockey operations, then maybe they can call themselves Americas Hockey Capital...but last I checked only southeast Michigan has that. So sorry Pitt. and Minny while we're at it!

Its pretty amazing how Cody Franson was all the talk for this UFA season and he still isn't signed anywhere. Is it that he wants too much money or maybe he just has a couple of teams he wants to play for and is waiting for their financials to work out to see what he can sign for? Who knows! I know, if he wants to earn at least some money, he can come to Detroit for a 1 year $1M prove himself contract!
