just read on the scroll on tv that Detroit re-signed Andy Miele.
-
If he came to Detroit I would gag... Not really, I'd honestly rather have him than Cleary.
-
This guy gets tossed off wherever he plays...he cannot be good.
-
Ok, so, lets say we land Green at a nice price and decent length. Who goes? Holland already said one of the kids will be here, and I doubt it will be for the 7th spot (unless its Jensen) and K is too expensive to be #7 all year. Kronwall-Green Dekeyser-Ericsson Quincey-Smith Kid or Kindl This is why is was a mistake signing Smith. They should've held off until the knew they wouldn't land Green. If the did land Green, Smith and K could be dealt. Now they will not get ANY value for whomever gets dealt OR ALL the kids will just stay in GR until next season.

So, saving about $3.8M in cap space just to re-activate Franzen's $3.9M and sign Cleary to $1.5M with a $1M bonus. Save $3.8M to spend $6.4M on broken players. This off season is beginning to smell like rotten eggs. There will be NO extra roster space. Not with Holland giving Cleary a contract and Franzen a spot. Say goodbye to some good young kids via waivers.
-
I really hope so. I am not saying he is bad or not an important part of our future, just needs to make it easier for us to keep our players together and be able to grow together. Sign a 2-3 year at $2.75M each and then if he scores 25-30 in each of those season's, give him a big deal.
-
Bieksa could've helped, and a 2nd we could've burned. But, we have Smith.
-
If Holland did kick the tires on Semin, then no way should Cleary be signed or Franzen take a spot up UNLESS he is 200% healthy, not even 100% Franzen is worth gambling on. But even without those two, we still need a spot or Pulkkinen and Ferraro/Callahan. There just isn't enough room to sign a UFA. With the wasting of Smith, tomorrow promises to be very boring for Detroit fans...

If Holland give Nyquist $5-$6.5M a year, then this team is doomed. Tell us Mrazekfanboy, if you think Gus is worth that, then what the heck is Mrazek going to get next year? Nothing because after giving NYquist $6M and then having to pay the other FA's similar money because if Nyquist earned it, so did they, there will be no money to even ice a complete team. I indeed, Gus is asking or this kind of money, trade his rights to someone who will overpay or him. Please lets not let Nyquist be Hudler 2.0, money hungry and puts himself in front of the team. For Christ's sake, Z's cap hit is just barely over $6M, you honestly think Nyquist earned that much? Well, they did have to make room for Franzen and Cleary...this was the obvious thing to do!
-
So long Weiss, sorry our former coach didn't use you correctly and good luck wherever you play! Gus can ask or whatever he wants, he doesn't deserve more than Tatar. If Gus gets anything over $3M, it will be a waste. Next season Helm, MIller and Andersson can all leave, save the money to give Sheahan, Dekeyser and Mrazek...you also have 3 of the 4 D kids that will be RFA's. If Gus doesn't understand this, then he can be traded, I am not that impressed with him enough to lose other players over him wanting $4M+.

Signed Brendan Smith re-signed 2 yrs $2.75 mill AAV

Oh good Lord...How the f*** are we going to upgrade our D now? We have 6 D under contract and one spot going to a kid... Will Holland continue to pay Kindl $2.4M to sit in the pressbox or will he bring up Marchenko and sit (waste) him? Even if Kindl gets traded, that still leaves a kid in the pressbox if he signs someone... I just think going forward with the corps we have and only having a rookie come up does not bode well for us... We really need to upgrade this position by signing Green or Franson if possible. This offseason is turning into a turd. Ya, I am comfortable with going with kids, but why fill all your roster spots before you even see if you can upgrade at a decent price? I am not even going to waste my day tomorrow seeing everyone else upgrading and Holland sitting still with Cleary, Andersson and Smith being our signings. Sure Weiss is now gone, but that just opens the door for a broken down Franzen to take a roster spot up. IMO, Cleary, Franzn and Smith should have all been gone. RIght now Detroit has $13M in wasted cap space on D in Ericsson, Smith, Q and K. I'd dump all of them to give Green and Franson contract and then fill the rest with kids. Right now our former coach is laughing is ass off...maybe sending Blashill flowers in condolences... -
Alex Semin has been put on waivers for the intent of a buyout. Would Holland give him a call tomorrow or has Semin's ship sailed already? Could he find magic with The Magic Man?
-
don't be bitter...Detroit is still in a Stanley Cup drought if Fedorov didn't play here. 100% guarantee.
-
IMO, Helm became tradeable with the emergence of Sheahan and Glendening. A trade deadline package of him and Howard should fetch a nice return.
-
when Feds gets his HHOF call Monday, the choice will be even more clear! Its time, make it so.
-
as much as I'd like Holland to sign someone new this week, the more I read about going with the kids, the more I get comfortable with the idea. I just wonder if they will indeed buyout Weiss and really give Larkin a shot at being in Detroit now. Tatar - Datsyuk - Abdelkader Nyquist - Larkin - Zetterberg Jurco - Sheahan - Pulkkinen Miller - Glendening - Helm Andersson/Ferraro Kronwall - Ericsson Quincey - Dekeyser Smith - Marchenko Kindl/Jensen Mrazek Howard still would like to trade Smith and Weiss for a pick or two and then bring up Ouellet as well. Then keep Sproul and Jensen in GR for another year until Q and K are gone or dealt.
-
I got a feeling that there won't be any UFA signings from outside the organization...but I will probably sit and watch free agent frenzy all day in hopes for something that will make the team much better.
-
well, this off season has started off like s***.
-
he played in green bay already, he's going back overseas this season...lol at Holland. He is s***ting the bed thus far this draft.
-
...and it starts! Off season is a rolling on! Wonder if Holland had any interest in Hamilton?

Signed Wings re-sign RFA Joakim Andersson
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Our former coach loves Andersson, he will not clear waivers if he falls to Toronto. -
Oh well, still more than I though the would get, we need to save some cap for our more pressing needs. Soderberg @3M would have been more disappointing that we didn't get him, but $4.75M is a lot. Especially with our pending RFA's after this season. I still think he would have had more success here, but hey, I am a bit bias!
-
Wow, that's a helluva raise for Soderberg. I am not sure what Colorado had that prompted him to want to sign there. They are most definitely not close to winning, they don't have the countrymen he could play with, which for Swede's always seems to be an important factor. It probably boiled down to money. Yesterday teams were allowed to talk to players that were pending UFA's and it was reported that Soderberg was getting a lot of attention. I am willing to bet Holland had some sort of offer or him, but nowhere near what the offer from Colorado. He probably inormed Boston of his choice and that is when they traded him for something just so they don't lose him for nothing. Good luck in Av-town Carl, you could have been a National hero in Sweden playing here between Z and Nyquist, but hey, can't blame you or taking the money and running.

Detroit will trade Smith, 1st for Bieska and a 2nd. Let it be done!

Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I hope you are joking...not only did they hijack hyman away from us, if we traded them Larkin it would be disastrous!
