That is perplexing....does Colorado need a center? Let's hope he still becomes a UFA. Well, you have to think that Holland was not interested in him because a 6th round pick isn't that expensive, although the asking price was probably more expensive for Holland being in the division.
-
Anaheim needs to get above the cap floor, maybe taking Weiss' $4.9M and then re-signing smith to $3M a year would help, then again, they lose Wiz's $5.5M. I just want the off season to commence!
-
Just go ahead and trade Weiss, Smith and the #1 pick to Anaheim for Wiz and a 3rd....get it done!
-
WTF happened to this thread?
-
1st, Mantha, Smith for Suter....get it done! Just kidding. We'll know tomorrow if Holland is into a huge splash or just going to trade down for a 2nd and a 3rd.

Looking ahead to expansion draft ... If Vegas comes to the nhl etc
LeftWinger replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
You obviously did not read the entire post. Instead of just trying to start an argument READ the entire post. I said I am going with the SCENARIO that Holland signs Soderberg and Green just for an example of who I keep protected... -
Well, Hyman signed a 2 year EL deal with Toronto. I bet this has Babcock all over it! He probably knew Hyman was leaning toward Detroit and in order to keep us from getting better he had Shanny swoop in and kill that chance! Of course Kenny could've just traded a useless forward like McKegg to Fla and signed him himself, but of course Hyman is also from Toronto, so we had that to deal with...oh well. I am just angry at this though, I despise our former coach and shanny even more now! Hyman signs in hometown, Reilly more than likely signing in hometown, WTF is going on here?!?! Don't kids want to get out and explore the world anymore?

I think if Holland landed either one of Green or Franson, it would be about the same impact, meaning I think one of those two are first on Holland's list. But, could be similar to last year where no big name UFA wants to come here. We may not get either of them. Let's look at secondary guys that could help the D out if they don't land the top 2 on the list. (of course I am just assuming that those two are tops on his list.) Paul Martin Chritian Ehrhoff Zbynek Michalek François Beauchemin Johnny Oduya Barrett Jackman Tim Gleason Just to name a few. Plenty of options to change the D with experience, or would you rather go with Kindl and the kids if Green or Franson fail to come here?

I think there are certain players that don't need protected. Rookies or players with very little NHL experience. I the draft happened before the 16-17 season, there a chance as long as they spend most of this season in GR, that Oullett, Marchenko, Sproul and or Jensen will NOT have to be protected. But you'd have Pulkkinen that needs it for sure. Looking at the potential 16-17 roster, here is my options: (I am going to assume in this case that Detroit signs both Soderberg and Green for my scenario, plus assuming they re-sign Abby, Helm, Miller, Andersson) FORWARDS Protected: Datsyuk, Zetterbreg, Soderberg, Tatar, Sheahan, Nyquist, Abdelkader, Helm, Pulkkinen Unprotected: Weiss, Franzen, Miller, Jurco, Andersson, Ferraro, Callahan (That is IF Callahan even needed protecting or not due to experience) DEFENSE Protected: Kronwall, Green, Dekeyser, Smith (if resigned,) Marchenko (just going with him as the guy that will get most of the playing time.) Ouellet (I know only 5, but if XO has to be protected because of his experience thus far then I protect him and not Smith.) Unprotected: Ericsson, Jensen, Kindl GOALIES Protected: Mrazek Unprtected: Howard, McCullom Now, is the rule still that you can only lose ONE player? If so, then we are sitting pretty. More than likely Vegas would select Ericsson or Howard, in which our loss would be minimal. -

Howard and Franzen would not be protected for sure. -
Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
There has been a little talk about Zach Hyman coming here, but seems like our former coach is trying to pull one over on us. FLA traded Hyman and a conditional 7th round pick (conditional on whether Hyman signs) to TO for Greg McKegg. We must stop this former coach from stealing the guys we want!!! He must be stopped! -
Number9, you say you have to be a Wing for life to retire that number? Hmmmm..... Sid Abel played for the Blackhawks, Terry Sawchuk played for 5 different teams (won a Cup with Toronto) Ted Lindsay also played for the Blackhawks. Gordie Howe played for the Whalers (even though Mr. Hockey would've gotten a pass anyhow) but he DID leave Detroit to sign with the WHL Whalers. So really, the only players up there that played for Detroit their entire career is Delvecchio, Yzerman, Lidstrom. And Yzerman was once traded until Mrs. Ilitch stepped in and negated it. What then? What if he became a Senator? Does that deny the greatness he brought to this team from 1983 to 1994? Its time to put #91 up...
-
The main difference between Fedorov and Datsyuk/Zetterberg is, Dats and Z both JOINED great teams and learned to be great within the organization...Fedorov lead in MAKING this team great. His number should be right there next to #5. It's a no brainer.
-
Lift this #91 to the rafters...it's time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqF-CI5TDgA Actually, we could use someone like Racine...
-
It's got to be just a coincidence that they put the girl of color in the Detroit jersey, right?
-
Hey, Racine was a 1st rounder for us, #11 overall! Also his full name (which I did not know until I looked him up) is Joseph Reno Yves Racine. He once had 108 points in the Q...not too shabby for a D-man. He actually played one season with Lidstrom and Konstantinov. LOL he was traded for Terry Carkner...
-
Kyle Quincey
-
Oh ya, forgot to mention, that is IF they trade him in the deal with the 1st for a top 6 forward. If not, then man, there is a traffic jam at D!

Granato possibly renegotiating contract with Wings

Cool! Chelios will be "eyes in the sky" and on ice help coaching D as well! -

Fershweiller, Granato. Both American's. I think this may be the first ever ALL American coaching staff... Fersh played at WMU, coached there and I think GR with Blash. It seems that the Wings dip into WMU to get a lot of staffing and talent, doesn't it? It's almost like, GR is our minors and WMU is GR's minors...weird. Cool, but weird. -
With the big 4 available, I think Lashoff is done in Detroit. Lets see what we have I we sign a UFA and keep or trade Kindl. Kronner - UFA Dekeyser - Ericsson Quincey - Kindl Jensen That could be fine IF that UFA is our first choice target, if you traded Kindl, then of course you could promote 2 of the kids, trade for a top guy and sign a #3/4 or try to sign two UFA's, a top guy and a #3/4... Kronner - Newbie Danny D - E Quincey - Marchenko Jensen Kronner - Newbie Danny D - Newbie Quincey - E Jensen

Ok, so it looks like Detroit may not be too interested in Phanuef anymore (just according to some twiiter rumblings) so...who do we trade that #1 for then? Do they try to get another top paring guy from somewhere or does KH just put his D cards in July 1st and trade assets and the #1 for a top 3 offensive player? KH has already said that one of the spots will go to one of the 4 kids in GR...I am still betting Jensen for the #7 spot because if KH gets a Mike Green or COdy Franson, I cannot see any of Ouellet, Marckenko or Sproul coming up to be a #7 when they would benefit tremendously to play full time in GR for their last season or GR eligibility. If Smith is dealt (which his name seams to be the one mentioned all the time from analysts) and Zidz is not re-signed, there should be two spots to fill, unless KH decides Kindl is staying. I don't see Blash sitting Q in the pressbox at $4M+, but this is a new regime...maybe Q gets dealt? IMO if KH is pretty confident that he can land one of the top sought after UFA's, then I would be fine with trying to acquire a top 3 guy, but I think it will be expensive...also I am not liking what I am reading about Sharp so I would hate to throw that pick and a young prospect their way...plus I would HATE to help Chicago out with one of our youngins!
-
Never had a problem with Avery...he stood up to everyone for his team and teammates. He was valuable as a Red Wing.
-
Just my thoughts (even though our former coach wouldn't want them) I'd trade the 1st round pick to TO along with Weiss and Smith for Phanuef. NOT Mantha. I think he deserves a full healthy year in GR to show that he is a star. So on draft day, I am ok with trading the 1st pick in a deal for Phanuef. Hopefully Holland doesn't overpay and trade all 4 assets... Weiss, Smith, Mantha and 1st is WAY too much payment for just Phanuef. Now I you want to throw in Kessel as well? Now we can talk adding Mantha in there...plus more I assume, but that is a good starting point if we're talking Mantha AND the 1st.
