I would think it may take a bit more than Ferraro to land Franson. (easy kip, I am not going to mention anything about underpayment, ) Seriously though, if they are asking for a 2nd and a really good prospect, maybe we could send the 2nd and Marchenko or Jensen? If you had to then add Ferraro-ish type player to maybe up the bid a little, that would be good too. Holland could address the D log jam over the summer.

Kip, Kip, Kip....I did not say they would trade K and Q for Petry and Green. As a matter of fact I specifically wrote that I wasn't saying that within the post. I simply said Q and K and another Roster player will no longer be Wings and Petry and Green will. Plus you absolutely did not understand the alcohol reference, it shows in your reaction post. Holland will dump Kindl and Quincey and another roster player in some sort of deal and he will acquire Green and Petry as well....whether or not the trades are related, packaged, three team deals, he will dump some picks and prospects along with K and Q. Not saying K and Q plus picks and prospects for Green and Petry, but on March 2nd you will see Q and K gone somewhere, some picks gone somewhere and some prospects gone somewhere and a name roster player gone as well. Green and Petry will be Red Wings that day...I hate to see the prospects/roster player that will be traded, but it will happen....The Cristal Flute has spoken!

I totally agree with you Kip. But next year is different. Jurco and Pulk are better than any of the others we lost or did not re-sign. I just hope that Holland isn't forced to lose one of them because Franzen may still "think" he can play. I would love* for Franzen to get better and contribute 20 goals again (*not to be confused with me loving or even liking Franzen as a player) but its not going to happen, I think everyone here 100% feels the same way. I suppose Holland could trade someone (Jurco or Andersson) but to me, and I think most agree, both of those guys are more valuable to this team than Franzen at this point in their respective careers. Especially cap-wise. I think its just time to cut the loss this summer, rather than be forced to trade someone or lose him to waivers in October. I'd rather Franzen get sent down through waivers and hope that a team would take a chance on him rather than lose one of Pulk or Jurco in any fashion. (or even Andersson for that matter.) I know we still have Kindl because Holland did not want to lose him for nothing, but Ouellet still had exemptions to keep Kindl here...Pulk and Jurco will not.

...how soon we forget. We lost Nestrasil. I know, he wasn't the best, but we still lost him due to overcrowding. Jurco had exemptions, but he was obviously better, so Holland kept him. Nesty wasn't a huge loss, but we still lost him. Next year BOTH Jurco and Pulkkinen are out of exemptions. We lose Cleary to UFA. That's it. Now Jurco and Pulkkinen are vying for one spot. Holland WILL re-sign Nyquist, Jurco and Andersson (all RFA's) so that will leave just one spot. It was minimal damage losing Nestrasil, but do you really want to lose one of Jurco or Pulk? Especially at the cost of keeping Franzen and his headcase here? The time has come. Either buy him out or give him the Pronger treatment for the next 5 years. If we lose one of those two so we can have Franzen float around out there and peter in a few points and shots here and there, then something is wrong with Holland, seriously. Stop the bleeding somehow. Just don't lose Jurco or Pulk or ANYBODY else to roster overcrowding by useless players. And, no it's not "fan speculation" on Franzen's head problems. Its been said time after time, that he gets into funks that cause him to lose focus and have no desire to do anything. The only speculation is what may be causing this...nothing personal Johan, just business, we need that roster spot.

Kip, I do a lot of research on our prospects, what I was saying was I would offer AA or Frk up in some sort of package way before I'd offer Pulk up. I know AA is leaps better than Frk, Frk goes back and forth from Toledo to GR and cannot remain consistent. I am all for NOT losing any of our prospects, but if a trade absolytely needed to be made, I was simply saying no to trading Pulk, but would be open to AA or Frk. I prefer to keep them all.

It would be nice to get a win tonight (and Saturday) but in reality, its only Jan/Feb and I am more looking forward to seeing how they play against these two tops teams. I would love wins, but as long as the Wings compete hard and show they are capable of beating these teams, I will come away feeling very good. I don't think "messages" need to be sent now by winning or losing, but by playing best against best. The Wings are good enough to be here and hopefully Tampa (and Isles) are thinking the same thing, that this is a great measuring cup game, win or lose. That said, Go Wings! Too bad Pulk's isn't up....

after this season, the Wings owe Franzen about $12.5M on his contract. He needs to be bought out, simple. Pulkkinen and Jurco BOTH need to be here next season, they are both out of exemptions and again, they are a integral part of our future. Losing Cleary and buying out Franzen will open up the two roster spots needed. Andersson can be re-signed and is a perfect 13th forward to rotate in and out. This has very little to do with my dislike for Franzen and more for my love of our deserving kids. I do not want to lose another prospect due to an overcrowded roster of useless players...

Without starting another thread, here's this choice (unfortunately this may be an actual choice for Holland in 2016) Sproul or Marchenko? Which one do you keep? I keep Sproul. Mantha - Larkin - Pulkkinen Tatar - Sheahan - Nyquist In 4-5 years, who wouldn't want to have that as a top 6? I know I am all about making trades for no reason but honestly, lets upgrade through attrition. Unless something outrageous falls into our lap I like the direction the team is going from within... (of course if that top puck moving defenseman becomes available...then....aw crap! Back to indecision!!!!)

Larkin has just scored17 points in the last 7 Michigan games. He is only 18, not saying he is going to be a scoring machine, but with a scoring machine like Mantha (projected) on his wing, he could be a setup machine... Yzerman/Fedorov - Dastyuk/Zetterberg- Larkin/Mantha. Yes, I went there. No way can EITHER of these two be traded. I would HATE to have to make a choice like that, one or the other....UGH!

I tell what I would be fine with....sending Jurco back to GR to get better playing minutes, keeping Dan Cleary in the press box, having Pulk be the injury call up and down, putting Franzen on LTIR for the rest of the season and being the team that picks up Mike Richards...maybe this should in the "state your unpopular opinion" thread! Seriously, though, I think our team would be better.

Ya, after I responded, I realized the it was US BORN players, but left it becase he is a US player...I do believe he and Modo are on par with each other, but again, just like Kane, Hull played with much better players (not taking anything away from Hull whatsoever) and Modo pretty much carried Minnesota for his first few seasons. If Hull and Modo were switched in order, no biggie... Chelly, Hull, Modano, Kane is agreeable when it all shakes out years from now...
