Uh, ya, being 10 or less points from the top spot DOES mean you are near the top of the league in points. If Boston rattles off 4-5 wins in a row, they would climb right up those 10 points. My point was, last season at this time (although I do agree this year's team is MUCH better than last's) the Wings were hanging around within a nice win streak of the top of the league and how this is feeling eerily similar with a couple of important injuries happening and them giving up the SO point a lot. I am seeing the same statements here now ("at least we got a point" and "if only we got these easy points") that we all read and said last season. That's all. It's just too bad certain folks are more interested in bashing another user's comments and opinion's rather than just have a respectful discussion. just to be clear, thru December last season they were no more than 9 points out of 1st overall. Even though there were about 10 teams bunched together, it doesn't mean they weren't at or near the top. When you are 9 points or less from #1, you are at or near the top.

Deja Vu...last season, at or near the top of the league in December. Injuries start to happen (Danny D, Weiss now,) start giving away the extra point when we should be claiming these early points now. Same guys say "at least we got a point" then "just think where we'd be if only we got two more SO points." I don't like it, but lets f'ing hope this doesn't continue the same way it went last season. BTW, Howard is bad when he is needed. Our guys suck at shootouts, yes even Datsyuk. Franzen is the laziest player in the entire hockey universe. He shows it every fricking game. Lazy shots, lazy dumps, lazy icings, glides around more than he skates.

Well, I just never compared the two situations before, and when looking at it in that respect, they were all very similar. Not that I didn't know the story of both, just never related the two for some reason...its almost like a fresh breath of air.

all that is true, but unless you are unloading a top 6 guy from our team (and I would gladly make that Franzen) he is essentially coming here to fill the role of Helm, in which he probably will not get the opportunity to score 50 points in the role Helm plays. That is why I think is would be better just to stick with Helm. But I get what you are saying, improve every spot bit by bit. If he has better hands than Helm then he is already a bit of an upgrade! And you said it yourself, Helm plus what to get him. I think if we are trading Helm +, it should be for a top minute defender, or at least someone better than Kindl and fils more of our needs. I am jealous because I, and most of us here, still believe Suter would be the differnce maker we need on D right now. Sure he isn't right handed, but not only would he be the top guy, we would have not had to re-sign Quincey (who isn't as bad this year) but he would have not been needed, we'd probably be watching XO play right now as well and Kibndl would have been even more expendable. Not sure they would have gone o hard after Danny D if they ad landed Suter, but according to all reports I read, adn yes, from my buddy Jeff would dated Danny's sister, he was in their sights for a long time. What happens in America or Canada if you conspire to overthrow the government, you don't get arrested and sentenced to life, your compound gets invaded and you and your "family" end up being killed/murdered and labeled a domestic terrorist, and label your extended friends and family have to liove with the rest of their lives. You most definitely do not get honored at a sporting event. And yes, I do believe our government keeps us racially divided as well. Ok, wrong term, but of all our forwards he is the one we would miss the least. You cannot have his salary cap sitting in the press box, so I am not including Cleary or Andersson in that statement, both of whom we'd miss even less than Franzen. I guess my point was, if we were to move somoene from our everyday playing lineup, Franzen would be the least missed right now because everyone else from top to bottom are much more important to this team. He most definitely is not hurting this team (too much, except for his lazy icing's and lob in's at the goalie and gliding around out there most the game) but if Jurco or Tatar or Nyquist were promoted permanently to his ice minutes, the team would still be excelling and perhaps doing a bit better. Kindl is a no brainer. IF we did have one need, it is for sure a top minute defenseman, and like it or not I can see Holland going hard after Mike Green. Just as long as Mantha or Larkin remain, like Holland described in the news, "untouchable." In 3-4 years, when Dats retires and Z is nearing the end, Larkin and Mantha are going be the next Dyanamic Duo in this town. A natural center/leader/tenacious checker and a natural born sniper. They may surpass the likes of Pav and Z in points. I am predicting a huge amount for these kids I know, but they are that good and I won't be surprised if both of them have permanent spots on this team before they run out of exemptions.

probably because there's no need to start a new thread about every player who may or may not help this team become even better. they're doing great now, but just imagine if they rid themselves of the dead weight like Franzen and Kindl and replaced them with a top shelf scorer and a top blueliner. We know that won't happen nor could they afford to give up the assets for them, but maybe get that defenseman to replace Kindl and get another 12th/13th guy to replace Franzen and promote within.

I understand, but the value may be the draft pick. They already don't have room on thier roster for him, so they may be willing to exchange for a player or two that doesn't mind playing 13th, 14th forward. This guy wants to be played or traded. although he would probably be in a very similar situation here. Maybe he'd crack the 12th spot until Abby comes back...oh well.

Cannot figure out how to post the Twitter link, but Chicago Sun Times has reported that Jeremy Morin wants out of the Hawks organization. "Play me or trade me..." The article says he is a "skilled offensive player with a physical edge..." He is right handed as well. Does anyone know much about him? Is he someone maybe we could entertain a trade of maybe Andersson and a draft pick? Add Ferraro to the mix? I don't know too much about him, but when I see skilled offense PLUS physical edge, I have to admit, I do get a smidge intrigued...
