Please see my response in the Cleary thread....sum it up: Holland is stupid, needs to be fired and has done NOTHING to help this team since he let Hossa go. His allegiance to these useless hockey players is sickening and it makes fans shake their heads...I sure hope he gets that ever important "future considerations" on trade day so he can use the damn buyout on a contract worth buying out. Franzen. But we all know, even if Holland is able to trade Tootoo, he will just let the buyout expire.

seems I said this might happen in my rant about re-signing Monster in the Future Needs thread... Holland is so predictable. The entire world knows how the Wings need to get better and change, yet Holland still tries to sign his little "projects" and re-sign his vets that were worthless for at least two years...Holland needs to go. I am officially WAY off the Holland wagon....He is on the same list as Franzen now. This is going to be a fun year of losing and bitching about our useless GM and Vets. Does anyone still believe Holland is a genius? If you do, you need to be checked out... Alfredsson, Monster and Cleary have ZERO business being in a Wings uniform EVER again.
-
Typical Holland....re-sign Monster and be riddles with injuries again... Holland is an idiot if he re-signs monster, there are FAR better back-ups out there to sign and at the same price and term...oh wait, we got a far better one in Mrazek already signed. Get ready for Q and Cleary to be back along with Alfredsson. The only UFA's you are going to see Holland get are unproven, undrafted projects... No Cup again. Holland could give two s***s about getting Datsyuk another Cup in the next 3 years....didn't he learn from the Lidstrom retirement that once your star realizes that you aren't making any efforts to get the Cup, he will stop re-signing. Holland probably thinks that in 3 years Datsyuk will start signing one year contracts until he is 42. Think again Holland, youf****** idiot. Hey, instead of finding healthier, better players, lets just keep the ones that SUCKED the entire year. f*** this! Hey Kenny, it didn't work last season, so lets keep the same players and cross our fingers this year! I'm sorry, but the only team IMO that should be looking to keep 99% of the same players is the LA Kings, the 29 other teams should be looking for changes, from the contenders tweaking to the pretenders making huge changes. The Wings fall closer to the pretender category than they do contender, so they need significant upgrades in certain area's and re-signing players that consistently hurt you is not the way to go...need upgrade is scoring, defense and goaltending...we don't need to sign someone and hope he stays healthy...especially one who has been hurt EVERY year of his career thus far!

Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins
LeftWinger replied to SteelTownWingsFan's topic in General
I am 100% positive ALL GM's have interest in players before July 1st....it's my opinion that Holland will not show any interest in him...but stranger things have happened... I would welcome Thornton, even though he is not who I think Holland should go after, just like I would welcome Boyle. I do think, on the other hand that both of these guys would be better pickups than Nosek, Epec, Asslec, Ballsec though... -

Nah, Holland is too busy signing undrafted "projects." He'll have no interest in an NHL player. Not that I think Thornton would be the answer to what we need... -
That's fine....but make the trade for the top line scorer, sign the D guys you need to make things better back there and then bring in a project or two... Our needs are top line scoring (whether or not that will be Nyquist or Mantha I am not sure) and make our D harder to play against. Cover our NEEDS along with trying to discover our next gem in a haystack and I am on board! I did like the analogy that Nosek pretty much replaces the second rounder we traded...maybe this guy would replace the 1st rounder if it is traded for a need...
-
I was NOT crying about Jarnkrok being traded....not once. Brunner, for example, was guaranteed a NHL spot in order to sign here...I am saying, if these are indeed signings to restock GR at forward and allow them to develop the NA game and earn a spot, I am all for it! But please, for the love of God, NO MORE "projects" with guaranteed Detroit spots.....
-
Yep, Holland's M.O. How many times is he going to go to this well? I wouldn't mind these undrafted, unproven European "projects" if they were for GR only to learn the NA game and EARN a spot in the NHL. If Holland wants to sign Nosek and Sekac or Ballsek for all I care for GR then fine, but these guys expect NHL spots...we already have a log jam up front and NEED legit top line scoring....not projects.

From Edmonton? Taylor Hall... Trade them Helm, Kindl, Andersson and our 1st....
-
..aren't most days "slow news days" when it come to a Ken Holland Summer? Just kidding! I like the idea, get some general NHL news talk going on to pass the time and bring us to two of the three best days in a NHL season... Draft Day, UFA Day and of course Trade Deadline Day...

Dan Boyle's rights traded to the Islanders…..
LeftWinger replied to wings4thecup06's topic in General
All this talk about trading kindl and signing Niskanen is hilarious! Not because I don't agree, Kindl needs to go and Niskanen would be much better than Kindl, but hilarious because Holland drafted Kindl ahead of niskanen in 2005. So since Holland never atones for his mistakes, he will probably NEVER replace Kindl with Niskanen. I don't want to hear that Kindl was the best available defenseman at the time of our pick either. It was a wasted 1st rounder back then, he fooled us a little bit two season's ago and actually digressed to worse than what he was early in his career. I hated him then, he fooled me once, and quickly went back to my hate list. As did Q. I think Boyle for 2 years would be nice, Niskanen (if we were to sign him) for 5 years would also be a great addition to our club. But you cannot re-sign Q and Kindl must be dealt or bought out or waived...he has got to go. Kronwall - Smith Ericsson - Niskanen Dekeyser - Boyle Lashoff like Boyle or not, and I am on the fence on him, I would rather have Morris, but that is a much better defense than we had last season... -
Signed Wings sign Tomas Nosek to 2 year entry level deal
LeftWinger replied to Dabura's topic in General
Holland: Hello? Mr. I? Ya, I did what you said and signed Tomas Nosek...ya...Nosek...Tomas. That guy you told me to sign. Yes, him...what? Tomas Nosek. Excuse me? Who? Vanek? Shoot! Darn! Darn! Darn! Sorry Sir... Mr. I: You f***ing idiot...(click) -

all of them. None of them helped us win a Cup...i am all for signing him to develop in GR, but we have no room for another undrafted European experiment on the big club. I'd rather give the spot to Mantha. -

Really? Ok, Leino, Brunner, Brunnstrom...does that answer your question? -

whoopee-dee-doo....same old Ken Holland... -
lol! Just waiting for the first news outlet to report on the Sacramento Kings winning the Cup!

Phillies?

Helm for Spezza....or Franzine for Spezza...
-
My middle ground is anything not involving Quincey or Kindl... Kronwall - Smith Dekeyser - Morris Ericsson - Marchenko Works for me. Especially if I am not trading Smith in ay sort of deal.
-
...like I said, unless I am getting a top 1% player in the NHL, I am keeping Mantha and taking the gamble. You trade him and he turns out to be the next 200 point guy, then you suck. You keep him, pass on acquiring Ovechkin (just for an example) and Mantha becomes just another 20-25 goal scorer, you suck. Anything less than a 1%-er I am not dealing Mantha. I understand the tough job it has to be being a GM and second guessing everything you may do after the fact, ie. Franzen over Hossa, but at the time Holland had no idea Franzen would be Franzen and Hossa would help win 2 Cups in Chicago. I get it. I also get that players like Kesler, Ryan, Benn, Getzalf, Perry, Crosby, etc...don't come around that often and if you have the oppourtunity to have one of them in their prime, you should 90% jump at it, at any cost...but I am reminded of the Wayne Gretzky trade, he was traded to LA and Detroit at the same time, meaning there were two deals in place, he obviously wanted to play in Detroit, but LA turned up the offer and LA was the eventual "winner." I cringe to think that we would have most definitely lost Yzerman to Edmonton in that deal. Sure, we would have had Gretzky in his 20's, but as it turned out, he never won another Cup and only got to the Finals once, even with some of the great teams he played on...our teams would have gone a complete different direction with Wayne on it and we probably don't draft Fedorov or Lidstrom...you just never know. Keep Mantha, make other deals, sign a couple of UFA solid vet D-men. Trade away the extra baggage for picks or futures...the most valuable players I would give up are Helm, Franzen and Smith in a deal for a player that can help us now. Those three I wouldn't miss on this team and even if they went on to become better players somewhere else, I wouldn't regret it. Smith maybe, but as said a million times, you have to give to get... DeGraa, funny thing is, we probably could have outbid Ottawa for Ryan back when he was traded. We could have offered Jarnkrok, Helm, our 1st in 2014 and I think that would have been a better deal for Anaheim. I know Silfverberg is a heck of a player, but at the time the trade Jarnkrok was at or near our #1 prospect and Holland didn't want to move him then. Helm would have been a nice #2 or #3 center out there as well. Unfortunately, now with Ottawa in our division, it would cost way too much. Murray would ask Detroit for more than he'd ask St. Louis, that is a fact.

Bobby Ryan or Ryan Kesler yes, Spezza no. Not for that return.

Dan Boyle's rights traded to the Islanders…..
LeftWinger replied to wings4thecup06's topic in General
I would be ok with Boyle for two years...as long as Holland had another, better D man in mind to acquire as well AND gets better in the top 6. -
In all of this uncertainty, just like last year we have a very crowded bottom 6....but unlike last year, the crowd this year is young better players and prospects...no Sammy, no Eaves, No Bertuzzi, no Cleary, no Tootoo ( I still wish we had room for him) no Emmerton. So right there its already a better feeling to the season than it was last year... I see Paul Stastny is still UFA. I thought for sure Colorado would've wrapped him up already. He'd be a bit pricey, but I'd rather see him here than Alfredsson. Although, not sure if he would play wing. Did someone mention pages ago that Bobby Ryan was being shopped? Or were they referring to Ryan Kesler by his first name? I know they also mention Spezza, so I thought they were talking about Bobby Ryan. I would love to have Ryan here, wonder if the asking prices would be similar for him and Kesler...which one would you chose? also, I am not giving Mantha up for anyone, so any trade involving him is a no go. I mean, if someone dangled Weber out there, we could talk, but I am not giving up Mantha for anything less that a top 1% player in the league.
-
I can see Holland standing pat. He will keep the 1st rounder, keep all his players, wait and see who wins the roster spot, then either lose guys to waivers or trade them for future considerations because at that point he has no leverage to try to get a better deal. The kids that have exemptions will start in GR because they can and we will be stuck with Andersson and Kindl.
-
it ain't me...i like smith, but would trade him for Kesler in a heartbeat... Must be kip. But just because we put him in a trade scenario doesn't mean we do think he isn't top 4. I think he can be, especially here if we don't add any better d. btw, I still would like to know who the kid is that was talked about in Russian...
