2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

ok, back from my road trip...something is wrong with Holland. These guys are not signing for too much, they just want to go to contenders. Damn Holland for years of lowballing and turning Detroit into a destination NOBODY of significance wants to come play. Jim Nill FAR exceeds Holland as a GM. Not saying we needed Spezza or Hemsky, but geez, Nill is at least making his team better. Seguin, Spezza and Hemsky in a year span? For shame on Holland. Dallas just valuted past us in the contender category... Rumor has it Nill wants Alfie down there too! I am glad Niskanen is still undecided, so that could be who he is putting all his eggs in, and I would be happy. BTW, at darkmanx for making fun of my prediction Erhoff will sign for $3.5M to $4M... guess I don't know crap do I manxie? In the case of Boyle and Erhoff, they definitely went to better places to win a Cup currently...and for that I do indeed blame Holland. I can't imagine Holland lowballed those two that much, because they didn't sign for too much...

Kulfan reporting that Sheahan re-signs a two year deal... terms? its on twitter....damn it, I am having trouble cut and pasting.... Sorry mods!! Kulfan and @Detroitredwings have tweeted it...

    UFA day looking up

NJ Wing....Kindl is a must subtraction...we cannot move forward with K or Q on this team. Lashoff, for what he is getting paid, is a far better #7 guy. We could use Kindl's $2.4M cap hit as well.

    UFA day looking up

may I stress IMO, the better day would be TWO defensemen, not ONE and ONE forward. Address the pressing need at D..and then if money is left on the table, get a FWD...not named Alfie... I would still LOVE to see Chicago buy out Hossa (if that is still an option) and have Holland re-sign him. Meh, one can dream...

    UFA day looking up

...again, Boyle would be fine as long as there is another key signed or traded for...Niskanen and Boyle, Myers and Boyle, Erhoff and Boyle...pricey, but that would be a good day for the Wings. If they could squeeze an Iginla in there with it, that's cool too. Of course, today I really don't know what is gonna happen, might even get better than what I said! Who knows??!!? Could be Quincey... then I am over it, Holland will be deemed brain dead, because using the kids is far better than re-signing Quincey.

    UFA day looking up

I would love to see LeBron survive a Kronwalling...if he had to be carried off the court for a twisted ankle, Hey Detroit old-timers, remember 1988 NBA finals Detroit vs. LA? Isiah played and scored a record 25 points in one quarter on a severely sprained ankle with hairline fractures... Poor LeBron will never know what it means to have heart... anyhow, back to a real man's sport...it is know July 1st! LETS DO THIS!!!

    UFA day looking up

I think a UFA day of Niskanen and Boyle would be a very good day for us. I would be happy with those two. I know the risk in Boyle's ager and Niskanen's one year wonder, but it sure beats sticking with what we have and not giving it a try. I would admire Holland's balls (what?) if he is able to land both. Plus that means Quincey is definitely gone and more than likely Kindl is also!

    UFA day looking up

I'd like Meyers as well....but it is gonna cost us Smith+....our 1st rounder is no longer in play, except next years (which hopefully stops being "The highest since 1991.") Niskanen would be wonderful....but If we ended up trading for Myers and signing Boyle or Gilbert or even Erhoff, I think that D would be tremendously better than last years... Even if he couldn't get any help up front via UFA ( I would love to see "Chicago to buy out Hossa.") I think Mantha should get a hue looksee and I mean, stay up for every single Pre-season game and show them he is ready to net 50 goals in a Wings sweater...

    Ehrhoff or Niskanen

being able to have 5-6 players make around $6M and more isn't parity....blah, I am just tired of Detroit no longer being the sought after destination...I am not sure about you, but I like being the team everyone wants to play for....
  10. LeftWinger

    Ehrhoff or Niskanen

Ok here is the crappy part about this whole parity situation....rewind two years when Suter and Parise were the hot couple...Holland was offering what he could that would take him right to the cap with Suter. He wasn't offering anything near that for Parise. I know we lost Suter to his wife, but after we lost him, Holland signed cheaper players that allowed him to stay under the Cap...Minnesota was right against it after the two signings...fast forward...Wings have cap space, but ironically enough as of today, Minnesota has $5M more in cap space...they will be able to offer Niskanen the moon AND THEY STILL HAVE SUTER AND PARISE!!!!!! How ******* fair is that!?!?! That's not parity...that's rape.

    Ehrhoff or Niskanen

wow what? How much did he get paid? Do you think he is gonna get $7M? Usually after a buyout, the player signs a nice mid tier contract for a year or two to earn a bigger one when he re-signs...the player just got a buyout of sometimes $10M or sometimes more, a lot more. Money is not the motivating factor usually after a buyout...at least not what I have seen since the cap was instilled. But go ahead, keep attacking with replies that bring nothing to the conversation...how many is this towards me now?
  12. LeftWinger

    Ehrhoff or Niskanen

we can afford both. Erhoff got bought out, so he can come fairly cheap. $3M maybe. Niskanen $6m maybe. Trade Kindl and give that $2.4M to Diesel. You still got $5m for Sheahan and Tatar. Once you dump Andersson and give Sheahan and Tats about $2.5M together. You have over $3M for Iginla or just hold on to the $3M for space.
  13. LeftWinger

BUF to buy out Christian Ehrhoff

that is a solid D! If Holland did just that, I may forgive him for Hossa...we have the money, not including the Kindl salary dump...

Wings to have face to face with Matt Niskanen

I agree...as much as I bash on Holland, as long as he is making competitive offers, I guess I am ok with it. I can blame Holland though for slowly turning this into a destination that top UFA's avoid...then again, I also blame the city leaders for the cesspool...hell, even I left the area after 42 years of watching it get worse and worse...

NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

I complain because we can... back on topic...do they make any kids under 6' anymore? Heck my 15 year old is 6'2"... I am quite happy with the draft. Wish we could've made the NHL club better...bring on the 1st! Kick them hard Kenny...

NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

oh please...forgive me for not wearing the glasses. Just because someone has an opinion that you don't agree with doesn't mean they are less of a fan. Its unfortunate we have people who don't want to see Holland have some balls. you are right though, its not July yet. I do hope Holland lets loose and actually does something of significance. I just hope the come July 2 and he is still kicking the tires, I dint hear...guys its only Juky, not everyone signs right away....oh wait that is what we hear... FWIW I did say his draft was solid...it just didn't address any of our pressing needs. Now if/when he does sign a couplevUFA's, he will have too many players and end up losing players to waivers instead of getting a puck for them... I do agree with you guys, be patient, but we are patient every year and every year...welll...

NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

Holland failing to make room for improvements on the NHL roster. Still have too many forwards, s***ty D. No room for UFA's. Failing to trade Kindl, Andersson. He will just kick tires for the rest of his career. He absolutely disappointed Red Wings Nation again thus far. Sure his drafts were solid, but Detroit as a NHL team still sucks. Get ready for Q and Alfie to come back when no UFA of any value wants to come here after Holland, once again, fails to make his team a more attractive place to play. Pathetic. " But, but, were Detroit, everyone wants to play here...for pennies. "

    NHL Draft 2014: First Round

happy for the local kid....cant wait to hear all the idioms from Ken Holland on why he didn't pull the trigger on trading for a glaring need....oh well I guess we'll address that Tuesday...and pigs will fly.

so how good is Jason Garrison? It always drives me nuts when all other teams are dealing to get better and Holland is kicking tires...

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

correct.. That is why he is back to being a prick. Av fan growing up, Ohio State player and now doesn't want to come here. My point was, if we were in play, we could have beaten that offer.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

looks like Kesler heading to Anaheim...no doubt Helm, Smith and our 1st would have gotten it done... Kesler back to being enemy #1... @Real_ESPNLeBrun: Anaheim will trade Bonino, Sbisa plus 24th overall pick and teams will swap third-rounders once deal goes through
