Peterka and Robo are available and affordable. Hague, Dobson, Andersson, Ekblad, Byram, all available and affordable. (Ekblad UFA of course) Yzerman just needs to sacrifice a 1st or two. The prospect pool is full of players, they won't miss a 1st or two. Zegras trade just set the market though, all he got in return was a bottom 6 center, a 2nd and 4th. Dangling the 13th OA out there should get some teams talking.

Seriously though, fans have had enough. Changes are needed, and not just subtle changes. Playoffs are a must this year or I am all for letting him go. He's drafted well, it's time to add IMPACT player(s) that fit the timeline. a 1st or two is not going to stall the plan. There are players available that will HELP this team AND be here for the glory. Just like when he got ADB. He NEEDS to have another (or two) trades like that. Trade for a top line winger Trade for a #1 LHD Sign a #2 RHD. They're out there. Available. And affordable. He BETTER use his buyouts too! Nobody wants to trade for Holl or Tank? Good, buy them out. You have to think that THIS is the off-season that will define Yzerman as a GM. A trade package that starts with two 1st round picks should get you almost damn near anybody. Teams are making deals now, the time to deal is now, screw waiting until draft day, or over the summer. Make a splash right now. If this roster is not filled with the players we need by August 1, I'm all for getting rid of Yzerman. Sure, you cannot control where a UFA goes, if a player has trade protection, you can't always be on their list, but there are players out there, on the block, that would put Detroit into the playoffs that have no trade protection. Spend the GD picks! The team will do just fine without drafting a couple of guys that won't be seen for 3 years. This is Yzerman's critical off season. Its do or die.

I'm all for that! Seider, Raymond, Kasper, Danielson, Cossa, ASP, MBN...we can afford to deal a 1st (or 2) for that legit top LW or top LHD.

Is this another example of Yzerman trading an asset for junk, then the other team flipping him for something better?

If he is there, Jackson Smith LHD is my choice. He ranks anywhere from 6 to 18. He could instantly be our #1 LHD Prospect. Which we'll need if Wallinder or Buium is dealt.

Ekblad won't be re-signed unless he takes a DEEP cut. TSN reports that there are 3 teams he'd go to, Edmonton, Toronto, Detroit.

the ONLY thing about offer-sheeting them is the compensation. Let's say he offer-sheets Rossi to $7M, Minny decides not to match, we lose the 2026 1st and 3rd, our luck we s*** the bed again, this time actually WIN the draft lottery and Minny gets OUR 1st OA. Now, if they'd accept this years 1st, 3rd and lets say, Berggren or Rasmussen, or both, who cares about either really, I'd much rather do that. He'd be playing with Seider here, so he would have a good partner to lean on.

With our 4th round pick (#119) I draft LHD Aron Dahlqvist

Ya, but what would you pay for him? Larkin isn't being traded, neither is MBN, ASP, Danielson or Kasper. Would they take the #13 OA along with a lower prospect? Maybe a B Tier NHL roster player? If they'd take, lets say #13, Rasmussen, and 2nd round pick and maybe Wallinder or Tuomisto or maybe add Berggren?

With his emergence and Augustine, could Cossa be expendable? Could Yzerman trade him?

I saw that too... Yzerman is always trying to find the diamond overseas, but you'd think if he was good, he'd already be in the NHL. I guess we'll see... I don't remember a UFA player he has signed from overseas that has worked out though.

The problem is, Chris Ilitch is NOT Mike Ilitch. The NHL doesn't like Chris Ilitch, he does nothing for the sport or the growth of the league.

Most experts agree he has become a top prospect. I think it's worth the trade gamble, if he'd sign with Detroit that is.
