Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
LeftWinger replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Nobody is questioning Helm's value, but Sheahan is here to stay, they're going to re-sign Glenny as well as already have Andersson, Weiss, Pav and Z. Andy is not going to bring you anything of value in return, so if you want someone that can upgrade this team, Helm is the most valuable tradable asset you have. Look at Anaheim, they traded Ryan and got players that fit better and they are at the top of the league...you gotta give to get. -

How's this for a blockbuster (fantasy) trade... to VAN: Stephan Weiss, Johan Franzen, Adam Almqvist, Darren Helm, 1st rounder to DET: Ryan Kesler, Alexandre Burrows, Alexander Edler, 4th rounder *purely fantasy suggestion... Making next season's (my fantasy roster) look like this: Z - Pav - Nyq Mantha - Kesler - Burrows Jurco - Sheahan - Tats Abby - Glenny - Miller (Andy, Callahan) Kronner - Edler Big E - Diesel Smitty - Kindl Laser -
Holland waiting for price to fall on Erhoff. Whether we can expect a package who knows! Outside of that I think a Mike Weaver type move (my choice is Morris, but he probably isn't available) would be something we can expect. As someone mentioned before our 1st round is not as important this year in drafting a player as it will be trading it. With the likes of Sheahan, Ferraro, Tatar, Callahan, Almqvist, Nyquist all out of exemptions for next years roster and Jarnkrok, Jurco and Pulkkinen out of exemptions next summer, the need for a 1st round pick is not that pressing. Now whether or not Holland decides to hold on to it for a bigger deal on draft day, that's another story...either way, it's value to us is more via trade than drafting a player. BTW, if Holland waits for June, the return potential is much higher...

Dreger just tweeted that Wings are in on the Erhoff trade if price is right... Kahn tweeted Datsyuk hasn't skated since the 2nd period of the Ottawa game, still not skating today. I think the need for a center is rising every day...just might have to sweetin the pot to rustle Kesler from VAN...and also convince him that coming here is worth waiving his NTC... Mackenzie just tweeted that Kobasew, McLaren, Larsen and Dubnyk all hit waivers today... Would the allure of re-uniting Weiss and Booth be enough for VAN to accept him in a deal...and for Weiss to waive his NTC? ...and BTW, when are we going to see Z's cap come off the books due to his injury? I am fairly sure that missing the rest of the season should qualify him for LTIR... -
I say yes to a D-Man...and maybe a FWD if the right deal pops up. Rumor has it that the Wings are one of 3-4 teams that are in serious talks with VAN for Kesler...but even if a Boyes or Jagr presents itself I think Holland will move on it...within reason of course. Expendable: Andersson, Kindl, Quincey, Helm, Eaves, Cleary, Bertuzzi, Samuelsson. DO NOT MOVE Sheahan, Tatar, Nyquist or Jurco. Thank you.

I wouldn't mind Jagr for the playoffs. I don't know it would cost us Jensen though. Jensen has 2 years of waiver exemption left and there is no need to get rid of him. Almqvist, albeit a bit smaller but right now he is sitting 6 spots ahead of Jensen on our prospects chart, plus he is out of exemptions this year and will need to be moved for something or risk losing him for nothing. If Phoenix sends us a D-man, I still would rather have Morris, even over Yandle. Slap me for being silly, but I think Morris is more of what we need right now. I know he is a UFA this summer, but if he does good here, re-sign him for another 1-2 years and help usher in Ouellet and Sproul and Marchenko. All of which are still waiver exempt through the next two NHL season's. If you shore up your D now with some veteran help and keep them through the next two seasons, when it's time for those three to be full time in the NHL, the likes of Smith, Dekeyser and Ericsson will have the NHL experience to bring in the kids... -

seems Colorado is looking to trade Stastny...rumored they are looking for a young D prospect, a solid D man still under contract and possibly a pick... Kindl, Almqvist, 1st....get it done! I would even make it Smith... -
I am sticking with my original thought: Cadillac Centre... named after the founder of Detroit and they could throw some pretty nice cars in the lobby as well...

ya, but the fact that our 1st round pick will be almost 15 slots higher than, lets say, Pittsburgh, should add more value. Which we could send the lessor Almqvist. Plus Helm is a bit better all around than Sutter... -

Helm, Almqvist, 1st for Kesler. No more. If that ain't enough, then no thanks. Kindl, 3rd for Derek Morris. Deadline done, bring on the playoffs. -

as stated earlier, no to any trade involving any of the four kids. Helm, Almqvist and a 1st for Kesler is ok by me! -

On the TSN website, there is a guy commenting on the tradecentre page discussing the latest on Kesler. I don't have the capability to copy and paste on my work computer but he actually said that Kelser to Detroit makes sencse, send a package of Weiss, Sheahan, Jurco, Tatar and a couple of picks to Vancouver... Wow, I thought I was crazy with some of my trade proposals... -
...should have hired Manny. The only very, very Osgood is is bad.

so that's what its like to have a GM with balls... would have gladly swapped Jimmy for Miller in a package. .
