We need a 2nd goalie. Have you seen what's available via UFA? Ned isn't coming back. A trade will need to happen or we'll have Husso and an AHL quality goalie. That won't fly.

May as well sign and trade him then, if the hearing happens they'll lose him in UFA next summer. Last I've read he'll only sign extension for two teams Dallas and Detroit.

I did the MTL trade to get a later 1st to acquire Debrincat. MTL desperately needs cap relief, so sending us Dach and Hoffman opens up a lot for them. If they would take Zadina and the #41 for Debrincat, that would be great! But I find it difficult to see that happening. Looking at my scenario with MTL, it does look like we are overpaying for those two guy and the lower picks a bit. I was just looking for the lower 1st (for Debrincat) and a player who could help us in Dach. Oh well, I have never been a great "scenario" writer. I'd be ok with the SJS deal too even at 33% retained for the 4 for 9 swap.

Not ALWAYS. I started my disdain for him when he and Hudler got to stay and they let Hossa walk. He never lived up to his contract. Then when I found out about the concussion issue, about 6-7 years into his 11 year deal, I kinda lightened up on him a bit. But ya, I really didn't like him too much to say the least!

Rumors that Detroit might be in on Erik Karlsson. How does that impact your #9 pick if that trade happens? What if Yzerman is able to acquire both Karlsson and Debrincat? Are you taking a C for sure at 9 now? Or are you still taking Reinbacher or Willander?

I have a feeling it'll be Willander or Reinbacher, whichever one is left. But then again, I read some stuff about Danielson if he was still there. Dunno...

I'd be all good if they got a 40 goal scorer. I seem to remember when Brett Hull didn't play D either. Not that Debrincat is Hull 2.0, but we definitely need scoring! 1st, 2nd, Zadina (and/or prospect) considering its inner-divisional. Make this trade, sign Taresenko, and maybe ROR. Cut ties with our UFA's and a couple RFA's.

This banter reminds me of the good old days! I remember when I used to lose it on draft day! People used to come here just to watch! (I admit I was a tad upset last year with the Kasper pick, really wanted Savioe, but it only lasted a few posts.) On subject, without trading up, I've seen some mocks with Detroit taking Danielson, Willander and (if he falls) Reinbacher with the #9. Knowing Yzerman though, it'll be somebody totally different! I've been pretty occupied the last couple of seasons, so I can honestly say I really don't know too much about anyone outside of Bedard (oh, and the names I've seen on NHL23! )

I feel the same. Unless we move up significantly of course. But if we hover around 9-11 I do believe Reinbacher is his pick. (Unless he's gone already) On Eliteprospects.com, he's ranked as high as 8th and as low as 35th in the various rankings.

Anybody going to watch the draft lottery tomorrow? I, for one, am not. I know our odds are only 5% but I'm just so tired of the same teams getting coddled and being awarded for tanking. I fully expect to be picking 11th come June, while Tank experts Montreal or Chicago, get awarded Bedard. God forbid Anaheim gets him...
