Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
LeftWinger replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I am full on for Visnovsky. That kind of trade would be considered a minor move. Which is what Detroit thrives on... Kindl, Almqvist for Visnovsky Quincey for Joe Morrow to dump salary and bolster our prospect pool in Rapids. -
Wow, you guys are generous when it comes to someone else's money None of these guys have earned that much of a raise....this is more like it... Dekeyser - 2yrs @ $2.5M-$2.75M per. Tatar - 2yrs @ $1.125M-$1.5M per Sheahan - See Tatar Glendening - 2yrs @ $925K per ..after these contracts, then they may hit paydirt. I say 2 years because these guys will still be RFA's after the contract (as someone mentioned above) that way you have exclusive rights to them. After 2 years, I can see some of those numbers you guys are talking about, on 5-8 year contract...maybe more than you guys are talking about!

That's an awesome lineup! Should have been similar to that from day one...Too bad we had to go through about the worse streak we've seen in these parts since 1989 in order for Kenny to realize it! Funny, watching 24/7 you could tell he was getting a bit annoyed with Babs constant use of crappy vets and refusing to use the youth we had...so glad that all changed! I for one am blaming Cleary for Weiss's injury, he had to slow way down to stay with Cleary and as he was skating awkward, he tweaked that hernia! Ya, ya, that's the ticket! I think with this lineup, Florida won't know what to do! Almost a triple threat with Z and Dats on separate lines and the speed and skill of the pink slips will wear Florida down. Heck, even Glenny's line is gonna cause some problems...could Andersson/Glenny/Miller be the new version of the Grind Line? I think if Andy was replaced with Tootoo or Eaves it sure could!

Orpik would be nice too... BTW, your Broncos avatar didn't bring much luck to them...I hope your Tiger's one doesn't have the same affect... -
Here is my ideal team for next year. Nothing huge or nothing too outrageous. This dealine, I trade Kindl, Almqvist to the Isles for Visnovsky. I trade Q to Boston for Joe Morrow. This UFA season I re-sign Alfie (if he wants to) to a similar contract. Let the other UFA's walk. Goodbye Sammy, Cleary, Bertuzzi, Monster and Eaves. I sign Matt Niskanen and Scott Clemmensen as UFA. (if Buffalo buys out Myers I may rethink Niskanen.) I re-sign all my RFA's and end training camp with a roster like this: Z ($6.083M) - Pav ($7.5M) - Nyquist ($950K) Alfie ($5.5M) - Weiss ($4.9M) - Franzen ($3.9M) Tatar ($1.110M) - Sheahan ($1.110M) - Jurco ($709K) Miller ($1.350M) - Helm ($2.125M) - Abby ($1.8M) Andersson ($732K) Glendening ($650K) Callahan ($650K) Ferraro ($950K) all vying for the last spot. Visnovsky ($4.750M) - Kronwall ($4.750M) Ericsson ($4.250M) - Niskanen ($4.250M) Dekeyser ($2.250M) - Smith ($1.262M) Lashoff ($725K) Marchenko, Morrow, Ouellet, Sproul all on the standby list. Howard ($5.291M) Clemmensen ($1.750M) Mrazek for injury callup... This roster leaves them potentially $1.791M available cap space BEFORE decisions are made on the four guys trying to get that 13th and 14th forward positions. Like stated before Glendening and Jurco BOTH have exemptions to play in GR. I am not saying they belong there, but if Holland and Babs want to get a longer look at Callahan and Ferraro, they could easily start the season with Glenny and Jurx in GR to get that longer look at those two in Detroit...
-
If Callahan is just a younger Tootoo, then realiscally, what are his odds of being on this team? I agree that this team needs an agitator like that, but Babs and Kenny have shown this year, they don't agree with us... A line of Tootoo - Glendening - Callahan would only happen if someone was traded/bought out and Jurco starts the season in GR. I happen to think that BOTH Glenny and Jurx will START in GR because they can without passing through waivers. ONLY so the Wings can see what they have here before being forced to move someone to make room for those two who both will be on the roster MOST of the season next year...

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

...so here is a nice scenario: trade Kindl and Almqvist to NYI for Lubomir Visnovsky...let Q walk in July and sign Matt Niskanen. Kronwall - Visnovsky Ericsson - Niskanen Smith - Dekeyser Lashoff ...on a side note, if rumor has it Boston is interested in Q, trade them Q for Joe Morrow, who has one more year of waiver exemption and can start the year in GR safely. That wouldn't change my scenario for next year, but it would make us play Lashoff more this season, for the D would look lilke this: Kronner - Lubo Ericsson - Dekeyser Lashoff - Smith Marchenko ..then in the offseason, sign Niskanen to make it look like my original lineup. PLUS now you have a very good prospect in GR in Morrow that will certainly make up a very good D in a couple of seasons. -

I would fine with Visnovsky. He is the kind if deadline acquisition that could put a team over the top, or at least give them a better chance at the chase. Think of Larry Murphy. Sure, our team isn't as good as it was back then, but he came here and really solidified the D corps and help put them over the top. I could give up one of Kindl or Quincey along with Almqvist for Lubo... -
Miller...he is already signed past this season, Eaves is expendable and I highly doubt will be re-signed, unless Holland moves a couple of prospects out of options... thing is, Callahan and Ferraro, who we all know will be out of exemptions, haven't even sniffed a cameo appearance in Detroit this season, and we have been injured more this year then almost ever. Are they just not good enough for the NHL? Not good enough to make it here? Maybe BOTH will get dealt to make room for Eaves and Alfie to come back? I do not like just throwing away prospects, but if they can be packaged to get us a need, then I guess it would be ok...add Almqvist to that trade list as well, because I highly doubt Holland will go into next season with the same D lineup minus Q and add only Almqvist...

I could get on board with Alex Edler or Visnovsky. Vancouver wouldn't take Sammy back though, I wouldn't think. I know he had success there with the twins one year, but he is older and slower now...I wouldn't be opposed to offering him to them though! I also would love Booth or Burrows on this team... to VAN: Temmu Pulkkinen, Joakim Andersson, Landon Ferraro, Jakub Kindl, 2014 1st. (Sammy if they'd take him) to DET: Alexander Edler, David Booth (or Burrows,) 2014 2nd. also: to NYI: Kyle Quincey, Adam Amqvist to DET: Lubomir Visnovsky Post deadline roster: Nyquist - Datsyuk - Zetterberg Booth (or Burrows) - Helm - Alfredsson Jurco - Sheahan - Tatar MIller - Glendening - Abdelkader Eaves Edler - Kronwall Visnovsky - Ericsson Dekeyser - Smith Lashoff Then I wake up. This scenario requires too much movement, it also includes waiving Cleary and Bertuzzi along with putting Franzen on LTIR. Something like this may work in the off season, but this season it's too much of a fantasy trade...oh well. -

AH!! I get what you were saying now! -
Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
LeftWinger replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
If it is deemed that Franzen would need an extended time off to become healthy enough to play symptom free, then why wouldn't he qualify for LTIR? I am not saying just throw him on it today, but if today a Doctor said he recommended 3-5 months off, why wouldn't that be enough cause to qualify for LTIR? -
The next two off season's are going to be tough decision time... 2014: Sheahan, Ferraro, Callahan, Almqvist - out of options 2015: Pulkkinen, Jarnkrok, Jurco - out of options Pretty good names there...all in the top 15 prospects pool... I am not going to rule out Mantha making some appearances next season as well. If he continues his torrid pace in the Q and makes a huge impression come training camp, there is no reason (other than being exempt from waivers) for him not to be on the NHL team at some point in the next two seasons... ...I like Bogosian, but would also be intrigued if Buffalo bought out Myers... would be a very interesting signing to say the least...

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
LeftWinger replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Heck, the way things are going, I really don't want to get rid of Sheahan, Nyquist, Tatar or Jurco. I am not saying these guys are the end all be all of our woes, but I really look forward to having these guys all play together for years and years. We have to start a core somewhere...BUT, I also am not saying that we do not need a legit scorer and a #1/2 defenseman... If these is to be a trade, I would like to target Bogosian and either Ladd or Booth. I think that Holland will be able to address the #1 winger spot over the summer... I say we trade Cleary to Philly. I know he has a NTC, but he already agreed to a contract there once this season, and Philly would be paying him about half of what they agreed to pay him before the season. Philly could trade us a 7th or conditional pick. Franzen I believe needs to be put on LTIR until he is healed completely. Thus opening up some needed cap space to acquire someone. Andersson is very tradable, he probably wouldn't bring us much in return, with the emergence of Sheahan, he becomes expendable. Unfortunately it would cost us a ton for Bogo/Ladd or Booth, so I am just going with the team we have. I don't see Holland trading Smith and unfortunately I don't anyone would give us anything of value for Quincey. We sure don't have enough assets to acquire Vanek via trade. I believe the same about Bogo. We just have a log jam of players that are (almost) ready to step up this (off) season and nobody wants our old timers... -
going back to my original thought process...The Pink Slip Line...
-
Call them the Thieves....since they basically stole the roster spots of Bertuzzi, Cleary and Samuelsson... or Career Enders for the same reason...
-
Wings win 4-3 Shootout.... DO NOT let David Booth get out of town!

My ultimate would be acquiring Vanek and Bogosian. I will take Bogo and Booth and Ott if no go on Vanek. Trade for Vanek and offer him 8 yrs $66M... -
Holland made a risky trade in 2001-02 for Hasek. He can do it, he just needs to be reminded of his job as a GM to make this team better...
-
nope...jimmy should have had that goal. He was down way before the puck got to him...very average. Make the deal for Miller now...
-
so where does this put us in the standings?
-
Bone head play by Smith, nice dive by the Cap, s***ty goal by Howard. He should have had it...

Booth and Weiss played well together in Florida. Each had career years playing with each other. Could reignite some Chemistry, maybe. He makes a lot, but you are going to pay these days for 30 goals...bring him home, put him on a line with Weiss and lets watch the magic! Franzen on LTIR, trade Q and there is your cap room...we still need D though....
