...according to IIHF, Sergei Fedorov is staging a comeback with CSKA. Put that together with him playing in the alumni game, I predict a return the Red Wings to officially bury the hatchet amongst all parties concerned. It will allow him to retire as a Red Wing, get into the HOF and get #91 up where it belongs with #19 & #5. Feds will be Hollands signing in the off season since he said he won't make any huge splashes until the TV deal. Yes they can bring up Ouellet if needed, they have $7M in cap space as of today with all the LTIR. Bring Tootoo back up as well. I would sit BOTH Q and K and bring up Ouellet and one of Sproul/Marchenko/Almquist... Babcock, it's time to sit Cleary. Damn, at least sit one of Cleary or Bertuzzi....Tootoo deserves to be in this lineup.

It's not necessarily about getting the BEST guy, it's about the best FIT. This is why although I am pissed at this team by having Cleary, Sammy, Bert and Quincey (more and more Kindl as well) on it, but I understand the thinking that these guys have been around and may be a good fit here. I also think more and more that these guys are showing that they aren't the best fit. I like the talk about Girardi, he is fairly cheap, but there are others out there that could maybe come in and solidify the back end very well and I wouldn't mind taking a 1-2 year gamble on to see if they indeed fit better than what we have. In no particular order: Dion Phaneuf, Brooks Orpik, Willie Mitchell, Dan Girardi, Matt Niskanen, Matt Hunwick and knowing their love affair with Swede's, Douglas Murray. I know a couple of those guys are older, but given what we have this season any combo of two of those guys are better than Q and Kindl... So let's just for conversation purposes, what looks better? Kronwall - Ericsson Dekeyser - Smith Quincey - Kindl Lashoff/Ouellet - OR - Phaneuf - Kronwall Dekeyser - Ericsson Orpik - Smith Lashoff/Ouellet again, you can replace Orpik and Phaneuf with Hunwick/Girardi or Niskanen/Mitchell or Phaneuf/Murray. Any combo HAS to be much better than the bitter disappointments Quincey and Kindl have turned in to... Up front, its obvious that Cleary, Bertuzzi, Sammy ALL must go. With the influx of kids that obviously belong here, I still would like to see a big star type player be signed to play along side Datsyuk and Zetterberg. With the cap going up, I would love to see any of the top UFA's pursued, including Heatley, Vanek, Gaborik and Jumbo Joe, also Paul Stastny. You are going to have to break out the big bucks to outbid other teams, but they would be worth it. And these guys are just UFA signing's, no telling what could be done via the trade. I am not sure how happy the Rags are with Nash and not even sure if Holland is still wanting him, but he would love awesome on Datsyuk's line, as would Brad Richards, but he is leading the Rags in scoring right now... Bottom line is: Cleary, Bertuzzi, Samuelsson, Quincey, Kindl must NOT be on this team next season. To a lessor extent, I would be indifferent if Eaves, Alfredsson and Gustavsson were re-signed or let go.

ok, how about a deal for Girardi and Brad Richards?

I would rather it be Ouellet making rookie mistakes and learning, than Quincey doing it. Stevie Y and the Avs ripped Holland on thus deal. Would've rather just had Downie. Of course Babcock wouldn't play someone like that...ie Tootoo.

if not for Cleary and Sammy, Eaves and Tootoo would be here permanently. Sadly, when the injuries subside, they will be the ones to be sent back down...even though we are a better team with them. Holland knows it, Babcock knows it, but their hands are tied with the old losers...

We all know which players need to be gone...it just sucks that when our hurt are mended, the same guys will be going back to GR because there will be no cap room again and Lord knows that Bert, Sammy, Cleary and Q just have to be on this team the rest of the season... Glad Tootoo is back up, he deserves to be here. Wonder what would have happened had Tootoo been player when Datsyuk got his elbow....hmmmm.... I really enjoy watching the kids play, unfortunate that they will have to go back. If Holland could somehow grow a set and just do whatever it takes to get rid of the dead weight. I know Sammy would have to give a list a teams he won't go to, but just tell him, submit the teams because you are being traded or being sent to the minors to rot. Sure the cap relief would be small, but I'd much rather have Tootoo or Eaves here than Sammy. Same goes with Cleary, just waive him right now, I don't care if he plays in GR or not, the roster spot is more valuable! I would much rather have Tootoo, Eaves Nyquist, Tatar and Ouellet in the lineup over Bertuzzi, Sammy, Cleary or Quincey. I hope an "injury" per say comes up for some LTIR relief from Sammy AND Cleary! That way Tootoo can stay.

I haven't liked Kindl for a long time. I hated it when he was drafted as a matter of fact. I was encouraged by his progress last season but am not surprised by this seasons regress. He never really panned out and he is at best a #7 guy. He was re-signed for way too much money for his worth. I know Holland probably hoped that he would get even better after the contract, but this is another mistake by him. Kindl along with Q and Franzen are mistakes. I know Franzen is more than likely here to stay, but may as well get what you can now for Q and K. If at all possible, rid ourselves of Bert, Sammy and Cleary as well. Bring up kids that can be sent back down when all are healthy again. If I am gonna play like yesterday and be embarrassed, I'd rather have my kids learning the NHL, than losing with a bunch of overpaid floaters. .

So anyhow, I scan ahead on both FSD & FSD+ and cannot find ANY listings for the AHL game OR the Alumni Games...I have Charter Communications and have both channels...I found the College games, but cannot find the ones I REALLY want.... The only thing I find is on NHL Network on the 31st at the same times, but it says Alumni Game Philly vs. Rangers...ugh!

I am all for Huge D-men that RH....as long as they aren't a carbon copy of Ericsson... Thanks for the scoop on this guy though, its always fun to keep an eye on someone and see how they advance in the rankings!

Guarantee a lot of those alumni players are far better than Cleary, Sammy and Quincey...I'd take Feds and Lids over Cleary or Sammy and Quincey today!

Something seriously has to be looked at in our training department...this is too much of a problem to be a coincidence! Now we KNOW our return from injuries will be our deadline acquisitions... I guess we are going to get to see our kids for sure now! My only question is....why the hell can we not get Bertuzzi - Sammy - Cleary to go out on LTIR?

Which is why we cannot trade "junk." This team needs an impact player. Our depth in goal, the D on the farm and our mid-higher level scorer's on the farm make Howard, Quincey and Franzen expendable and VERY replaceable. I am not going to say trade them or Holland sucks, but as mentioned no one wants our junk, so if those three were packaged for a legit #1 defender, I really don't think the lose of players would be an issue.

Yes, we are all sick of watching losses, but realize this team is the result of 20+ years of dominance. I am not sure if you are old enough to remember the Dead Wing era, but after that era is when they started building a team through the draft and trades that turned into the 90's Wings. I am sick of watching losses with Dan Cleary, Todd Bertuzzi, Mikael Samuelsson and Johan Franzen in the lineup. I have no issues watching losses with Jurco, Nyquist, Tatar, Dekeyser, Smith, Mrazek, et al. in the lineup. It is that core of players that are going to define the next 20 years of Red Wings hockey. I am not saying they are all going to be Hall of Famers, or even close to Yzerman, Fedorov, Lidstrom, Draper, McCarty, Maltby, et al. BUT I am more than willing to ditch the dead weight and let these kids grow together, lose together and learn to win together and create that next Dynasty. I also would like to keep the playoff streak alive, but I am not all for suppressing the growth of our youth in order to play the crap vets that Holland refuses to let go by the wayside. To me, and maybe I am not in the majority here, but Cleary, Franzen, Bertuzzi, Sammy, Quincey and possibly Jimmy are all expendable. I know Q has his good nights (rarely) and Franzen seemed to have gotten a little life in him playing center again (he has since cooed WAY down) but think ab out the needs of this team. Yes a #1 scorer (even I have pined for that) but most importantly, I think we need that #1 top defenseman. Which is why it really hurt not being able to snag Suter away from his family ties. But honestly, looking at our depth in goal, on D (when it comes to #'s 3-7) and even eventual 20-30 goal scorer's, think about what could be had out there if Howard, Franzen and Quincey were offered in a package... I am not saying trade them right f'ing now, but if they are very expendable considering the return and what we have waiting in the wings...

I am never a fan of losing, but I would much rather lose with our kids, than garbage in the lineup. I cannot wait for Z and Helm to be healthy so we can sit Cleary and Bertuzzi. I know cap space us an issue, but we need to just waive Cleary and have injuries mysteriously appear for Bert and Sammy. Then when Diesel gets back, we need to rid ourselves if Q. this is a great time to be a Wings fan. With all these kids playing, it reminds me of watching the 90's Wings grow together and once they create that "core" of players, magic will happen yet again. I do believe that Mrazek is our future. I may be in the minority, but with monster playing so well, and as cheap as he may be to re-sign, Jimmy just may becoming expendable. This team needs a legit top D-Man and a package of Jimmy, Q and something else just may land that #1 guy...just saying.

Ozzie was chosen over Manny to be he broadcaster. Manny is currently doing college games for FSD and he is actually pretty colorful...I think they chose Ozzie over Manny because of the history of Ozzie in goal, but that choice was a mistake. Ozzie sucks.

...also, regarding next season, I wonder if anyone out there can get us a list of "kids" that are no longer able to move up and down to GR and back without having to go through waivers... I know Ferraro is one of those and I think Sheahan. This is very important to see what Holland does next off season at the draft and UFA time. Maybe even at this season's trade deadline. Or if any of you guru's out there can explain to me the rules, maybe I can figure it out myself. I do know that it has something to do with when they signed their first pro contract, but I am not sure on the time frame.
