Ahhhhh! Now it is proven, there is a player out there with a better cap hit than Franzen, not on an EL contract that WILL outscore Franzen this year... I am sure it was a bit of a hometown discount, but Dupuis would have been nice! At $3.75M he is a steal! Yet another strike against Franzen and his serious contract...

Report: Red Wings out on Lecavalier - signs with Philly 5@4.5 per
LeftWinger replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Would have been nice to have him...at first I didn't think 5 years would have been too bad, but then realizing he would have been 39 (and already declining) when the contract was up, I can see why Holland didn't match. Kudos to Holland for offering $5M per for 2 years though! Keep on Kicking the snot out of those tires Kenny! Vinny's loss anyhow! Last I checked Philly failed to make the playoffs, had to buyout Bryz and Briere (which makes them even worse) and are STILL over the cap. I am sure they will bury Pronger again to get under, but I think Vinny made a mistake. We will see... edit: At least I think he offered him $5 for two years....I could have swore that when the news came down he signed for 5 years, it was said on twitter by one of the NHL folks that Holland offered 2 years, 5 years was too many.... -

I love the big D-Men Holland took, but man we have D-Men prospects crawling out of the walls...will there be room for these two guys in 4-5 years with our current crop? I am not saying that there was something better at those picks, but just wondering. Also just curious, without me looking it up, did we pick up any right handed shooters this draft?
-
Fricking buyout Sammy already! We already got Mantha....finish this offseason by dumping Sammy, letting Cleary and Flip walk. Sign Lecavalier. Then go for a trade to better the team even more!
-
Pisses me off that LA traded up to get Zykov...really wanted him the Wings organization...Also they got Fasching, who I wanted too, but Holland had ample opportunity to get him, so he must not of liked him too much...also Jersey irked me by taking Santini...He will be a HUGE player in the NHL one day an I only wish that Holland was able to take him...oh well! I love that Mantha was selected, but I do not know anything about any of the other guys taken by Holland... Also, VERY disappointed that we didn't move Filppula...guess we will just let him walk on Friday. Not surprised, but a little dejected that there was no Bobby Ryan trade to Detroit either. Also intrigued that Holland put an offer in for Edler, wonder what it was? Either the price was too high or Vancouver is still mulling it over... Edler and Burrows to Detroit? Ya, only in a dream! All in all, I wasn't over impressed by the draft, considering it seems like after Mantha that Holland was just drafting projects and not really addressing needs... I do give him an A+ for Mantha, that is for sure!
-
Damn it would have been nice to have McCarron.....
-
Well....Zykov or Santini in the 2nd please....oh and trade that other 2nd in a package for Ryan....
-
s***! Montreal is in our division and now we have to face McCarron A LOT!!! Crap!
-
2nd round, McCarron or Santini and my day is complete! Oh ya, trade Filppula's rights too....oh and acquire Bobby Ryan....
-
I LOVE KEN HOLLAND!!!!
-
....er, I mean Columbus not Toronto....my bad....Must have been a battle for Mueller....some on Mantha or Zykov or Gauthier! There goes Rychel.....come on one of my other guys!
-
Mueller? Who the? I guess SJ really thought Toronto wanted him too....
-
That extra 2nd rounder will be important when Holland trades one in the Bobby Ryan deal!
-
Well all my guys are still there.....so hopefully Holland snags one at 20....wonder who the Sharks wanted so bad to move up two spots?

I cannot find it, but you may be right about it. I wouldn't be heartbroken, but would kiss Holland's feet if he did acquire Ryan....
-
Ok, so I am SOOOOO excited about this day! (as always) I just hope Holland picks one of the guys we have all been talking about in that 1st round! If Holland selects Haag in the 1st round I will personally fly to the Draft and kick Holland in the Balls... Concerning the Bobby Ryan rumors, I would hate to not have Tatar with us, but I would LOVE Ryan in Detroit! Could you imagine if Holland was able to acquire Bobby Ryan and was able to sign Lacavalier? Now that would be a huge increase in our offense production! And it keeps Franzen in the mix, for all you Franzen lovers...with Ryan and Lecavelier on our team, I wouldn't even mind that Franzen stayed. Ok, ok I know this a draft thread and not a trade thread, but this could happen at the draft. I am so excited! I just hope I do not get my hopes up too much (as I always do, right? ) and get the wind kicked out of me when that pick comes up... Anyhow, Go Wings! Go Holland! Get Ryan and Lecavalier here! So long Filppula!

Signed Jakub Kindl signs 4 year extension, $9.6m total, $2.4m/yr

....WAY too much of a raise....oh well. Just keep Nickle and diming the cap away... Lets give Cleary $3M... -
I don't think Dats has declined anywhere near as much as you would like to have had him decline. It has a TON to do with the linemates. When he was nearing 100 points for a couple of seasons he had a Franzen who didn't yet decide to coast the rest of his career and he had Hossa, oh then there was the line of him, Zetterberg and Holmstrom... Who has he had the last couple of seasons? He has had a ghost of Franzen and that is it, this year he had Cleary and Abby for a stretch. When he was reunited with Zetterberg he got his points a little more often, but not as much as he would if he would have a legit sniper on his line... You get someone who can score 40-50 goals to play with him and watch his point total's inflate to 100 points again... I do not know why you are so quick to write both of these guys off...
-
When Crosby and Malkin are nominated for the Selke along with being in the top 10 in the league in scoring, then they will be complete players... Show me where Crosby is even considered a top two way forward... Datsyuk may not score as much as Crosby, but I will take to 70-100 points and be the best defensive forward over an Art Ross everytime....anytime...
-
well, because according to all NHL media outlets, there is Crosby and then there is everybody else... For my money, I take Datsyuk over Crosby everyday and twice on Sunday... Complete players are better than one way players...
-
Heatley? Also, Philly's capgeek already reflects Briere's buyout and they are still $1.4M over the cap...wonder who is next?
-
Hypothetical - Crosby soon to be a Wing. Who do you give up?
LeftWinger replied to Aznknight's topic in General
I will get fired because I will not be responsible for taking Detroit back into the dark ages.... -
I would pass on Kaberle, but it is very interesting and intriguing to see that teams are already announcing the buyout candidates. I hope something of value pops up that could help us.
