Blah, too bad Colorado couldn't knock them off tonight....but hey, seems Detroit finished ahead of Minny in the standings anyhow, do you think centcougar will show his head in here afterall?

anyone else catch Babcock's comments about Danny D? He said that he believes that if they don't sign DeKeyser then he believes they don't make the playoffs.... ...this may or may not be true, but it shows just how high this organization really regards him...looking forward to 20 years of Danny D in the D. BTW, I am going with the nickname Diesel.

2013 Round 1 Photoshop War: Anaheim Ducks

I love watching the photoshop wars! I am not that good at it to contribute, but enjoy it for sure! BTW: I am SO looking forward to seeing NEW and FRESH photoshop wars next season in the East!

No doubt either would have been nice additions to this team. But even as much as I would've loved them here, I think their contracts are too much now in hindsight. Now, with them nearly out of the playoffs, they lost one of those opportunity years to take advantage of a great roster before the cap goes down. Next year their top 6 will probably look different and who knows what will come with that....they will compete, but this year was their chance to really make a statement. That is, afterall, one of the reasons Suter chose there instead of here. Heatley told him they have the team to win now and Suter fell for it.....poor sap.

Although I agree that we should have waited to bump this thread, but how frickin ironic would it be if Minny lost today to back itself out of the playoffs and allow Detroit to slide in? They did a grand job of showing up last night, lets for one day, hope the Aves can pull out a victory!

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

With a win tomorrow Dallas still has a chance to make the playoffs (if the Wings lose) so while they are both playing, Dallas will be playing for their playoff lives (as will Columbus) but I think Dallas will prevail because if Dallas loses then they pretty much are out especially with a Wings win....and if the Wings take care of Nashville again, we get a one game breather....

Tomorrow we are root for the Stars...and Wings of course!
  9. Nah, doesn't fill our need on D. A right hand shot...if Holland does take a Defender with his pick and it's not Poluck, then it better be Santini...BOTH big, BOTH Right handed, BOTH in the NHL within 5 years...I just pray and PRAY he would pass on Robert Haag and doesn't fall for the Rasmus Ristolainen smoke and mirrors....both big and I mean BIG, but will never play up to a 1st round draft pick...they are big though... I am still on board with Mantha...but grow ever intrigue by Zykov...
  10. Feds was the best Red Wing....period. (and he didn't even give 100% all the time....)
  11. Just remember Eastern Conference....Boston, Toronto, Montreal, Buffalo....big teams. Wings need to get bigger. No more small skilled. We need Big Power forwards...

    Detroit: Circa June 2018...

I would be happy with McCarron in the 2nd. It seems the Wings have a pretty good relationship with WMU as well. I like Mantha in the 1st too. Either Him, Rychel or Domi. ( I have given up on a 1st round defender because I believe our D depth is very nice as it sits.) If Holland blows that pick on Ristolainen, Haag or Burakowsky I will puke....I may be on board with Zykov as well. I see Pulock has dropped to 14 again...I know the D seems set, but I see it hard to pass him up if he is there when Holland drafts.... edit: I also think that if Santini is sitting there when Holland drafts, he may pop on him as well.

What does China have to do with this? Anyhow, I agree, I can see all three games being the hardest ones of the year to win...Nashville spoiled our playoff party last season and even with them not even making the playoffs, they could spoil it for us again by beating us and losing to Columbus...

Bertuzzi not returning Wednesday vs Kings

Shane Doan has ZERO room to talk about anyone...for all of his 812 career points, he has ZERO Rings on his finger. I had hopes for him over the summer, but yet, he re-signed with that team that probably won't even be in PHX too much longer and his team is no closer to winning a Cup than they have ever been. Given the history, I will take Abby's Cup Ring (and another Cup appearance) over anything Doan has accomplished. When Doan gets a Ring, then he can talk all he wants. In all honesty, please Mr. Babcock, no major changes with 3 games needed!!!! If you want to take Eaves out and put Bert in, fine, but please not both Bert and Sammy...that would screw up what little chemistry we have and we need to win these three games!!! Two for sure! Ok, if We win the next two and Dallas beats Columbus in regulation, then you can throw Sammy in on Sunday for some real game practice....thank you. I can agree with you on this....
  15. Well, Here are some of the Non-Wings related things I miss... Gas .99 cents per gallon... my house actually being worth something (rather than worth less than I owe.) KFC Hot Wings $5.99 for 20 of them... Nice and FRIENDLY neighbors. The ones that you talk to and spend time with everyday, the ones you give a spare key to, the ones you trust your children with...those type neighbors. I miss The Three S's....Sh!t, Shower and Shave. I miss being able to do all three of these in that order, uninterrupted, in private, and without fail on schedule everyday...love ya Kids, but ya, I really miss The Three S's!

I would almost rather Dallas win in a SO though, considering they still hold the tiebreak in the ROW column just in case. Because even if Columbus got the point tomorrow then beat Nashville they AND we lost to Dallas, we would hold the tie break against Columbus in ROW. I would just hate for Dallas to have that over our head and just muck up the game and shoot for the shootout to beat us somehow. I do like how you simplified it though. It's pretty much what I was thinking, win the 4 points now and not have to worry about Sunday too much. And if Columbus does us a favor and loses in regulation either to Dallas or Nashville, Sunday is a practice day! Exactly! I see three tough games...gotta get ahead by two and maintain it! Enough of these 1 goal leads with 5:00 mins to go in the game.

Bertuzzi not returning Wednesday vs Kings

IMHO, we need ROW wins for the next three games, not Shoot outs. Seriously, unless he plans to come in next year and net 20-30 goals, I do not see a use for him anymore. Nothing personal, but we really do not need him. I am not saying that Abby will remain on Dats line, but he has done a pretty good job there once he got rolling. He has a career 9 goals in 45 games, over 80 that is 16 goals. That is pretty much what Bert has been putting up playing with Dats since he came back 4 years ago. Abby has less points but that has more to with Dats being the playmaker and the guy on the other side (ahem, Cleary, ahem, ahem) for most the season. If Dats kept Abby with him and had a shooter on the other side, Abby would fit there fine. He is a ton younger and makes less money than Bert and is less injury prone...so unless Bert intends to tear up the club nest year and net 20+ goals, I don't see a need for him, at least not enough to bump Abby down...I am 100% for the buyout or LTIR for next season...

Hey thanks guys! I would have been SUPER disappointed with Ken Holland if Danny would've have signed somewhere else. Not for not trying, obviously he tried as much as anyone could (as he did with Suter) but for letting Detroit become such an unattractive place to be that even a hometown kid didn't want to come here...he may have still made Detroit unattractive (this off season weighs HUGE in that respect) but at least he is able to steal some talent that the rest of the NHL coveted...the draft is going to tell a lot of Holland's direction with this team. HE needs big and strong and fast players to compete in the East. No more soft skilled fast players...no more 6'3" 175'lb defensemen....no more 5'10" 165lb. forwards... The model of the last 15 years he has been drafting has to end. (well the last couple of drafts (especially last year) have been positive.) But I will save all my thoughts on that for the soon to made 2013 draft day thread...

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

as it looks today, we need Columbus to lose one game and then that would give us a one game mulligan... we have 50pts and possibly 6 more available they have 51pts and possible 4 more available... winning two games each would force us to get at least a tie point in Dallas...Really, the ONLY game I am worried about is that Dallas game. The Wings seem to play pretty well against LA and own Nashville, so if they can get 4 points right away, I will feel good about the Dallas game, unless Columbus gets 4 points too...We need Columbus to drop one (preferably in regulation) and we need 4 points before Sunday...not 2, not 3, FOUR. 7th place is not out of reach yet either unless Minny wins both of their remaining games, but let them drop one and Detroit could very well leap over them on Sunday! Hell, even both Minny and St, Louis drop the next two in a row and Detroit wins 3 in regulation we would be tied for 6th, both St. Louis and Detroit having 22 ROW...in that case it would come down to the last deciding factor to determine our seed because: Detroit and St. Louis will both have 22 ROW - tie Head to Head they have played 5 times, according the NHL rules your throwout the first game (Detroit Loss) and then sort by record of the remaining four games..... 2-2. tie... It would then come down to goals for/against differential for the entire season, which right now belongs to St. Louis @ +9 and Detroit is +1. I think overcoming a -8 difference is way too much to ask, but a couple a shutout either way and you never know! Funny thing is, we win tonight and leap over Columbus...tomorrow Columbus plays Dallas...ugh. Who do you root for? ugh! I'd say Dallas and then damn well better take out Nashville next so Sunday's game means nothing...if we lose to LA and Dallas beats Columbus, then Columbus beats Nashville, it makes BOTH Nashville and Dallas must win games....yuck, this is messy. So basically, like I said, take care of business now and beat LA and Nashville and then Sunday you could get the 1 point and be good. Unless Columbus drops both, then I think Dallas and Columbus will both be out....bottom line win all three and keep the "streak" alive!
  20. Drew may have played his last game for us as well...sad, I do like a successful story of a local kid playing for his local team, but being a UFA and having Eaves already under contract for another year as well as having to give Andersson and Brunner contracts (which they have both earned) along with Nyquist needing a spot next year, things are crowded already up front...

I like "Deke" although that makes him sound more of an offensive defenseman. Still is a nice nick though. I also like The Key...as in to our future success. I think his teammates will either call him Danny or Deke.

Hey! After a little "vacation" (don't worry I was reading the whole time) I am glad to say I am oh so happy that everyone is happy with Danny D! I knew he was coming here (thanks to my buddy dating Danny's Sister) and I knew he was going to be NHL ready and become a big part of the Defense. He is our best defensive defenseman out there and as long as he is allowed to be just that, Mr. Kronwall can go back to doing what he does best as well. Of course I am edgy about keeping the "streak" alive, but I am OH SO excited about this team's future moving forward starting this draft. I have a ton of topics to reply in since I couldn't but had to start in this one, since I was the first guy (basically, although I do think someone posted the same video I did last season a bit earlier, but I was the one to hand out the little inside info from my buddy) to mention Danny D. I was most definitely his biggest proponent on here and am so glad he is a Red Wing and will probably be for life...Good on Ya Danny!
  23. But you want Datsyuk to re-sign after next year, right? Just making sure I understand...BTW, he won't be "over" 35 until July... Juck F*cking Pott, is that you?
  24. I don't see what the whole age thing has to do with anything. He's old...despite his age...Hello? Anyone notice that he is only 35? Hell, Dats is 34 and still playing like he is 30 and so would Iginla if he had a supporting cast. As long as the prospects don't include our prized ones and our 1st round pick, I am in. (sorry Nyquist, I do not hold you as one of our prized prospects. No offense, just business)
  25. I think maybe it was more like, listen Jerome, we talked to those 4 teams you chose...ya, no, they don't want you...you are going to have to find another team to go to. Detroit? Ok, we will see if they want you...
