Typical jockeying and being politically correct...nobody can offer any more money than anyone else, or length of contract. Babcock has already told him there is a roster spot for him, so I guess it just comes down to where he would really love to play...of course you have to at least listen to interested teams so you don't look like a jack ass to the league. Even if he has already chosen Detroit. I hope upon hope that he has chosen us! I tend to lean on the side of his sister, but who knows, maybe its just a feeling she has (probably wants him to be a Red Wing as much as we do.) I would hate to get stood up by a local kid who grew up loving this team and when that team offers you a max deal and guaranteed icetime and you still turn them down, that really says a lot about the current status of that organization...it will all be Kenny's fault for not keeping this team elite if they lose out on him....it'll be a sad sad day...

Ok, too bad for WMU, but I am starting to get anxious! I texted my buddy and told him to keep me updated if he happens to hear something! He is with Jenn Dekeyser right now, but they are in hanging out in Florida so he may not get the word before we do up here! Even though I seem to have been the biggest proponent of Danny D, I won't be too upset if I don't break the news! I just hope it comes soon! Nah, don't move Smith...keep all our defensive prospects and what we have past this year up in the NHL. With (hopefully) the imminent signing of Danny D, we have a young NHL core that will grow together and only get better and better! This will give Ouellet and Sproul and the others a good couple of season to get acclimated to the AHL and our system... If Danny is signed, I can see all three of Huskins, White and Colaiacovo gone next season... To start the 2013-14 season: Kronwall - Ericsson Smith - Quincey Dekeyser - Kindl Lashoff ....me likes!

I cant imagine it not to be true. He was the one who first told me about Dekeyser and dated his sister for awhile. He still sees her here and there....i too hope her feeling is correct and the babs statement as well! I fully believe that Danny D will be suiting up soon in the #15 for us! (just a guess on an available #) Edit: another fyi, he just now told me and said the way she was acting, he believes its a done deal, but she just couldnt let it out before its announced....

He was with her last night and he told me that it is her belief that Dan is choosing the Red Wings. She also said if there is any kind of upset in the CCHA Championship, WMU is likely out and, heres the good part, he told me that Dan told his family that Babcock has promised him a spot in the lineup... Like I said, this is just hearsay from Dans sister, but I find it very excitable news!

I looked for the original post by that guy....I could not find it. I think it was in a playoff GDT and the Wings were losing and I think he was ranting about Holland not making the right deal...or he was talking about the 1st rounder for Quincey...just cannot find it.

Absolutely agree Evil! If Dekeyser comes here, Holland can focus on that sniper during the off season. (I don't think one will come via deadline, unless Iginla comes cheap.) I just hope that Detroit really is the frontrunner and with Q's injury and White's ruff play, he should get at least half of the remaining games...should be a no brainer since he can only make so much money for so many years from any team...I pray the Hockey Gods shine on us this time...we have lost out on a lot of highly sought after UFA's this year due to being outbid, family, desire to play in their hometown...well With Dekeyser all those things point back to Detroit...nobody can outbid us, his family is here, in his hometown...Danny D if you are out there and happen to get wind of this, listen to our prayers and become a Red Wing...You know you will be here for life...

It's all on Holland. Nobody can offer him more money, nobody can offer him more years. It just all depends if Holland really wants to make his team better now AND down the road by giving this kid a contract and the icetime all for the cost of ZERO in return. The ONLY reason Dekeyser doesn't sign with the Wings is because Holland wouldn't guarantee him NHL time. And if he signs somewhere else then Holland really needs to be fired for refusing to make his team better...this is a no brainer on both ends, it's all up to Holland. If he loses out on Danny D, I will lose ALL faith in Holland as a competent GM. Period.

Only other place (other than Detroit) that I could possibly see him go would be Winnipeg....where it all began. I know its a different franchise, but the fans are the same and if for reason Anaheim couldn't offer him a contract and he absolutely wanted to play again, maybe a victory tour with the Jets would be a nostalgic tribute for him....

Damn....Well I hope this means that Holland's #1 choice was Dekeyser and is just waiting for him to become available. He probably knows that he has at the most one spot available for someone to play and didn't want to risk losing Dekeyser by signing Sustr...everything will be fine as long as Danny D becomes a Red Wing. If he doesn't? All hell will break lose!

On a side note, I am willing to bet that Holland has already called Danny Diesel telling him the situation in Detroit (which I am sure he already knew about) and probably told him that if WMU doesn't make the tourney, he is in. I sure hope he did!

Totally agree, I like Dekeyser here first and foremost and if we only got him that would be great too! I just remember reading that Detroit was one of the teams that was really interested in Sustr...no biggie. I will take Danny D, and the good news is that Detroit is supposedly the front runner for him. With Q's injury it opens the ice time up for him...then next season he can compete for a spot once White and Husky are gone and hopefully Colaiacovo to buyout or waived to GR...

OK, cool! In a different thread, someone had mentioned that Sustr had received about 20-25 offers...I wonder if Holland called. I know he can only get so much money, it all comes down to if he gets icetime or not. The same would be for Danny...crossing my fingers for at least Danny if not both! I have a feeling that Dekeyser is Hollands first choice, so he probably isn't even going to make a decision until he sees if Danny is available after the selections....Hope he doesn't miss out on Sustr and then WMU gets selected and he doesn't get Danny now either. Of course he could still pick Danny up after the tourney...damn I want both of these guys here!

I too think that with the overinflated salaries today, Ericsson is paid well for his output. He is outplaying Quincey (before injury) and Q makes a bit more.
