gdt 3/10 GDT : Blue Jackets 3 at Red Wings 2 (SO)

was that a shot by Kronwall? or just a push? I was told that you don't try to puck the puck in the net, you try to put it through the net...pussyfoot the puck and it's not going to go in... -

How embarrassing the Joe is...are there more empty seats there than full? Not really, but sheesh! Note to fans: If you aren't going to go to the game, don't buy the tickets. Then maybe some of us who can't go all the time, can go once in a while... -

It's a dumb rule, but I think the silence is because at least it happens to everyone... way to go Franzine! I would love nothing less than for you to make me eat crow! -

Well, I just saw the replay of Columbus' 2nd goal and it was yet another horrible rebound by Jimmy. Jimmy is a great goalie except when it come to rebounds...every game he gives up tons of rebounds and he gets burned more than I like. It's really gonna burn me up if we get to the playoffs and his eneptness when it comes to rebound control knocks us out of the playoffs. He needs to nip that in the bud! Again, what this needs is in dire need of is scoring. Primary and secondary. This team NEEDS a legit sniper that is a threat to score everytime he is on ice. Added to that, this team is also in dire need of a PP quarterback. Kronner is just not it. He is good at his game and is valuable to this team, but he isn't that quarterback... So, when it comes to the glaring needs of this team....PP quarterback and legit sniper....anyone have Fedorov's number? Unfortunately, neither Bert nor Sammy are going to fill these needs... Did I hear that Datsyuk hasn't scored in about 9 games? Hmmmmm, seems to coincide about the time that he was put on a line with Abby and Cleary.... I know we do not have the assets to acquire these needs, and with how tight the playoff race is, I really don't see a whole lot of players exchanging hands this deadline.... Good to see the Franzine I have grow to love and hate is back. I knew he was only good for one dominant game per every 20... Nice to hear that Helm may be back next week, maybe. He instantly makes this team better and would also give Tatar more scoring chances... 5 on 3 for 96 seconds...if they do not score, it will really fire up Columbus...good luck and Go Wings! (Babs, get the lines right please...Cleary and Abby are not top 6. Cleary brings everyone down to his level. Holland, make the moves (if you can) to get what this team needs...) -
Didn't get to watch any of this game, but one thing is still glaring....We need scoring. Sammy and Bert aren't gonna add enough to help (if they ever get healthy.) So it comes down to a trade. It the bottom line, even when we were doing so good the last few games, you cannot win enough if you only score 1-2 goals a game. I have to say, it's pretty sad that the WIngs cannot beat this team, I don't know what it is. ps. It sickens me everytime I see Hossa celebrating a big game winning goal or hell even a goal...he should have been a Red Wing for life.... ...anyway, this team is desperate for a scorer...so desperate that it is going to be expensive to acquire, but I say we need it, do it. Nothing we have in the IR is going to turn the scoring around to where we score 3-4 goals a game instead of 1-2....

Not as dumb as the Wild....

They have lost....just not in regulation. We as Detroit fans know all to well that while NHL records are nice, they don't mean crap in the playoffs. I am not trying to downplay the Hawks and their fans and "The Record," but not unless this equates to a Hoisting of the Cup, it's it means nothing. Much like 1996....

I agree. But if he came in this spring with a 3 year deal he would have room to play next season and beyond. With White more than likely out of here, that opens a spot up. I know Cola is signed, but he can be dealt with after training camp (or he will be injured again... ) Even if they chose to re-sign Kindl, there is still room. I have posted it many times but here is my lineup: Kronwall - Ericsson Smith - Quincey Dekeyser - Lashoff Kindl (Huskins for depth) That is a lineup that can grow together for a few years or so until the like of Ouellet, Sproul, DeHaas, McKee and Backman start making appearances... I haven't forgotten about Almqvist, Jensen, Fournier or Nicastro either. Their time is coming too, but most likely as injury call ups or a player who gets a bone once in a while, much like Lashoff was until he got his big chance this year with all the injuries... I am not so sure. Right now Tampa has a more solid top 6 than we do with Hedman, Carle, Ohlund, Brewer and Salo to name 5 of them. They are all still under contract for a couple years each at least. I would say that he would be 6th or 7th on Tampa as well as here. With our young kids, I would say that his shot is actually better here, especially next season...
-
nobody has said he will solve anyone's defensive issues...our defensive issues are solving themselves if you haven't noticed. He would just be another building block for this young D to build on next season. He is NHL ready. If 30 scouts from 30 teams say he is NHL ready, I tend to believe them...He will have a NHL job soon and it will be a sad day if Detroit misses this boat like the did with Justin Schultz. Difference is, Detroit IS actually on Danny's short list...If they want each other, he will sign here.
-
No log jam. Especially next season...and he would just step in. There is no one in GR that would be ready to step in. All of our top D prospects are still at their junior clubs. Laser is already here...not unless Almqvist is ready. Nicastro, MAYBE.

Colaiacovo does not have a NTC. But $2.5M is way too much to sit in the press box. He has only played in 2 games and pretty much has lost his position to Lashoff, Kindl and Huskins...in that order. Bury him in the minors or if he gets claimed that is fine...
-
I agree. But with Colaiacovo injuries, its unknown when he returns, so have a "black ace" in Dekeyser wouldn't hurt this season. Next season, in order for him to make our roster Colaiacovo would have to be waived. I really don't think White will be back if he makes it through this season. With the turn of events with our D the last week or two, I fully expect Kindl to re-sign. I like Huskins, but I am neither here nor there with him, so essentially, if Dekeyser came in and Colo got booted, he would be the rotating guy with Kindl... If for some reason, White, Huskins and Kindl all leave, then Dekeyser would be a shoe in for a spot...along with trying to find a 7th defenseman.

I am all for a new stadium as long as it's not a cookie cutter one. Regarding Snyder, I do believe he signed something that allowed Mr. I to move forward (and use tax money) in the building of this, so I think he would still let it go through when he takes of the City. My other request other than not being a cookie cutter is the name....no Amway! PLEASE! Cadillac Centre © or The I.C.E Arena (The Illitch Centre for Entertainment Arena) ©

Too much probably.... Like I said, I don't want to lose our 1st round pick or any of our top prospects, so I cannot see a trade like that happening...
-
Danny D would most definitely be a depth signing for this season, getting a few games in and maybe, MAYBE a couple of playoff games....next season though, with what looks like White headed out, even if Kindl re-signs there will be a spot for him because even if Colaiacovo doesn't get waived, he would get hurt and that would allow Danny a spot on the roster. Honestly there is no one else in GR ready to come up, as good as most of our D prospects are, they are all still at their junior clubs or college. Danny is 23 years old tomorrow and is ready to step in to an NHL spot. I hope it's with Detroit.... He can rotate with the ever present #7/#6 Kindl... Besides in two years, depending on what we are paying Howard/Brunner/Filppula/Smith/Andersson/Nyquist and Kindl, we have to re-sign Ericsson, Quincey (probably) and Dastyuk, not to mention players like Sheahan an Ferraro who would likely see some time up here now and then, having a nice EL contract with Dekeyser would provide some much needed cap relief in 2014...
-
He is a right handed shot as well. There was a lot of talk around here about signing him in 2011 before he re-signed with Calgary. I think the $2.5M he signed for was a bit too much for where he would fit in here that season. (We still had Lidstrom and Stuart) Today that probably wouldn't be too much for him considering our contract with Colaiacovo, but he may be looking for a raise this summer as well. Who knows about a trade for him, stranger things have happened (1st for Q) but if Holland trades a package for a package of Iginla and Babchuk, I wouldn't complain as long as our 1st round pick was left alone, along with our top prospects. So basically, I don't see that trade happening... Me either....I think I'd rather trade for Bogosian if I was going to pay a lot in trade for someone...
-
Solution on D: Kronner - Big E Smitty - Q Laser - Dekeyser Kindl (Huskins) No need to waste a trade on big name defender....our D will continue to grow and gel. IF a trade is made it will be for scoring help...

very nice! It looks like there may be some words on it too, I wonder what it is? Someone email FSD and ask them to highlight it one night! edit: Nevermind, it looks like it is still a tribute to the former Wings. I can rad Stefan Liv as the last name listed, so I am assuming Brad McCrimmon is first Salei is next, followed by Liv below that. I notice a Halo above to Winged Wheels, so it has to be what I am seeing....

Not so much a big brother watching you, but more like the old "it's not if, but when..." adage.... BTW, I see you say you are in Ludington, we are about ready to move to Hart Township. We bought a foreclosure back in August and have been fixing it up while the kids finish school here in Woodhaven. We plan our final move in June/July. West Michigan is so beautiful!

Great job RR! I thought we were going nuts for second! It looks to be pretty basic, but I knew it had those Wings on it...

Holland says those dreaded words, "Our Deadline Addition"
LeftWinger replied to Jedi's topic in General
...another kid in the draft to look out for is Hudson Fasching. He is projected around #25. Another big winger, but he is a righty which Detroit lacks... So to agree, I also would want to keep that 1st rounder instead of an aging player that may not even help.... (unless that player is Bobby Ryan! ) -
I know what you are talking about, I saw it last night, I just cannot for the life of me find it, not even in any videos of his saves...ugh!
-
^ That is not the one he is referring to. He had one on that has a couple of Winged Wheels on it....I cannot find a pic of it though...
