boy does Franzen suck...
-
Hey the Wings are here to play! Same group of slugs out there taking up a roster spot....Q, Cleary, Franzen, GD Jimmy cannot control a rebound to save his life! On the other side of the coin, Tootoo, Brunner, Datsyuk, Lashoff and Huskins playing solid....White looks ok after missing a few games...Z is trying, but Franzen brings down everyone he plays with...Is Emmerton even out there? Can't tell....

Injured Helm: "Minor Setback", still out indefinitely, *merged*
LeftWinger replied to Tim.D's topic in General
This is becoming stupid....may as well put him on LTIR for the season and let him come back in September fully healed...remove him from the roster and get someone here to take his place for the time being... -
Holy Shiite! That would be so cool! They have to hook up a horn as well! Could you imagine? Wow!
-
Nah, no biggie, sometimes I do lose track of my posts...I would love for everyone the Holland drafts to pan out. I;d love for Kindl to become what he was touted as, but it doesn't look like it. Did I read that Lashoff was playing tonight? Cool! I like Lashoff, I know he isn't the greatest or that much better than Q, but I just have a hard time seeing a guy get $3.75M and playing worse than a guy making less than $1M... He has for sure earned a spot here, as long as some folks find their way out of here....
-
I hope you are right...I sure cannot wait for him to get back....but at the risk of derailing the subject, I think we should stick the the Game Day talk in this thread... I hope the Wings win tonight! Go Wings Go! Sorry it was in a different thread http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/topic/72442-calle-jarnkrok-does-he-have-a-chance-to-make-next-seasons-team/page-5 and you will see that it wasn't edited to add the word Kitchner...sometimes I lose track of where I am talking....
-
Inginla will score a lot, to impress maybe one of his choice of teams at the deadline...Hmmmm....
-
Really? Wow, I had no idea that Kindl played for Kitchner, despite the fact that I mentioned he did.... ...to debunk your attempt to slap me, Kindl was in his first season at Kitchner when he was drafted by Detroit, he was obviously scouted while playing over in the Czech league prior to also being watched in the OHL. Bottom line is, Holland fails more than he suceeds with his Euro picks. It shows throughout his draft history. He drafted Kindl because of his European scouts who said something good about him, but he was by far NOT the best available defender at #19 that year...Holland just loves his Euro's and now it is showing how good (or bad) his picks actually are...You cannot go to that well too many times, there are only so many Datsyuk's and Zetterberg's out there, sometimes you got to stop trying to shock the world and draft the corrrect players...Also he drafts players that he knows are going to sit in the minors until they expire and that needs to stop.He needs to draft players that will be in the NHL within two years not 5 or 6...ESPECIALLY his 1st round picks... I do realize he was ranked pretty high in the ISS rankings, that is fine. But fast forward to today, he stinks, its time to let him go....I just stick to my guns by saying I didn't like the pick and I have maintained it throughout the last 7 years and he stinks...just my opinion of him back then and today. Anyhow on topic, I hope the Wings win tonight and I do hope Piddler gets his clock cleaned. Like I said, even if he comes here and scores all the goals, I still dont like him, but good for him, he needed to move on to get better and a fresh start. He sucked here, so does Franzie, so he needs to move on too for a fresh start...I may not be a scout (or maybe I am ) or a GM, but I am a pretty good judge of talent and watch a lot of young kids play hockey. There are a lot of us in this forum that can judge talent and could do a very good job as a scout in the NHL...the job is not that hard...
-
I think they look pretty cool...and I agree for that same night the Wings should wear a Cougars or Falcons setup...
-
I agree the draft is a gamble, and nobodyhas a crystal ball or those guys you listed would have gone top 10, but yes Niskanen and even Vlasic would have been much better picks, they are both over 6' and 200lbs. and are also puck moving defensemen. Holland just had his boner for Europeans and was never going to take a NA kid. That is why I am afraid if the Wings get a #17 or #18 pick, that we will see another garbage Euro even if Ryan Pulock is available. If we could find the draft day thread from 2005 somehow, you would see how sour I was when Holland drafted Kindl and he has proven me correct and Holland to be a fool that year. Sure he drafted Abby and Helm that same year, but Abby is what he is and Helm is proving more to be a china doll than what it seemed he would turn into...Not saying Abby or Helm were bad picks, but Kindl was. Holland isn't the drafting genius everyone thinks he is... edit: You say looing back he would have loved to draft James Neal, well guess what, James Neal was is his own backyard in Plymouth so Holland should have been all over him, yet he chose to listen to his omnipotent European scouts. Well, I sure wish he would stop doing that and start looking locally for talent, he has missed out on so much right in his own state let alone just in North America...BTW Yandle went in the 4th round that draft, again, no crystal ball, but plenty of BETTER talent in NA when that #19 pick came up...what a waste. Holland decide that Ritola would be better than Yandle or even he could have picked up Hjalmarsson in that same round...Holland just isn't the great and powerful, he is more like the man behind the curtain...

Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?
LeftWinger replied to a topic in General
Well, I for one was never excited for Kindl (who is Czech BTW) to come up here. He seemed to have a bit of a snarl in Kitchner, yet lost it in GR and wouldn't even think to drop the gloves in the NHL. I never liked him from the get-go, but maybe he is a product of Ken Holland keeping the younsters in the minors too long. Maybe if he was given a chance, lets say around 2006-07, maybe thinkgs would have been different. That is why I say, get these kids going now before they expire in the minors. There is no better time that right now....we all agree Q is garbage, sit him, waive him, trade him, cut him, whatever, give the kids a shot just like Lashoff got and he is proving that the kids are ready...for the money, Lashoff is way better than Q. -
I don't care if Piddler gets 100 goals, I stil am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad he is off this team. Since there would be no love lost between the two (I cannot expect a Kronwalling (especially since he seems afraid to hit anymore)) but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Tootoo ram Piddler through the boards...Nice to see Eva is still suffering from Piddler love...poor, poor Eva...
-
I have said this for years and have said it over and over....he has been given ample opportunity to crack the top 6 D...he can't even do it with all these injuries, he will never do it. I know I am not the only one to dislike him, but I have said since day one he was a waste of a draft pick. Could have had made a much better draft pick. Even though a draft is a gamble, but nobody understood why Kindl was taken so high, except that they figured Holland was being Holland and found a diamond...Sorry, but Holland screwed the pooch with Kindl....bye bye Jakub, wish I could say it was nice to know you!

Lashoff is better than Quincey, but he is here now, so that is moot. I think Sproul and or Ouellet can be better than Q if given the opportunity...Q is hot garbage, it wouldn't take much to be a better. I still think that Tatar and Nyquist will be trade bait come deadline, but agree with you on the Cleary point. You cannot trade Cleary, so he only get's bumped if someone comes up and plays out of his mind. I hope Tatar can do that, but he is a different type of player. Hopefully he come up and gets on fire, it would help us and/or increase his trade value. I would love for anyone to come in and bump Franzie's dumb ass out of the lineup... -
Suter is better than what he looks, but he cannot carry a team of minor league defensemen... With all our injuries he may have been struggling here as well, but I still wish he was in Red and White instead of Green and Ivory.
-
...again, this guy would be great in a Wings Uni. but Holland wouldn't trade Franzie or Filppula...I would hate to see Smith go, but I doubt Phoenix would take a Quincey package...How about Franzie/Quincey/Almqvist? I doubt it. They'd probablay want our 1st rounder knowing that the Wings are gonna struggle to make to playoffs if at all... Don'y know if I'd risk Seth Jones (extreme tanked season) or the chance at a Ryan Pulock for Yandle...

GDT 2/1 GDT : Blues 3 at Red Wings 5 (Z with Hat Trick)

I totally agree...sure wish we had a Backes on this team.... I wonder what today's fans would think of Scott Stevens? -
Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?
LeftWinger replied to a topic in General
First of all, Perry would be signed as a UFA....Ryan would be acquired with Filppula as the main cog and Burrows would be acquired with Franzie as the main cog, and since you hold him so high on your list those are hardly trading scraps... I took liberty to edit your original post.... Ryan is something we need, Perry is better than Franzen, Burrows is better than Franzen...so lets see what I have suggested.... Alex Burrows - 6'1" 188lbs. Bobby Ryan - 6'1" 207lbs. Corey Perry - 6'3" 210lbs. Riley Sheahan - 6'2" 212lbs. Calle Jarnkrok - 5'11" 174lbs. Douglas Murray - 6'3" 245lbs. Dan Dekeyser - 6'3" 198lbs. Brian Lashoff - 6'3" 212lbs. Kent Huskins - 6'4" 210lbs. So where exactly am I giving up size? Dude, its time to change this team...of course I don't expect Holland to trade Franzie or Filppula because he has a boner over them, but if Holland were to shop them, that is what I'd like to see....as long as Vancouver and Anaheim would cooperate too. But it's not like I am offering scraps for Ryan and Burrows....Franzen & Quincey (maybe prospect or pick) for Burrows and Filppula & Emmerton (maybe prospect or pick) for Ryan.... Perry, Murray, Huskins and Dekeyser will all be UFA (re)signings and Lashoff is an RFA... Its not like I am saying trade Miller/Emmerton/Kindl/Mursak for Ryan or Burrows, I realize too I am giving up important players on this team, but in my opinion the roster I created can win a Stanley Cup...our current roster will not...ever. edit: I know Cola is signed for another year, but if he isnt on LTIR then send him to GR and let him get pick off waivers. Plus I am not even saying that Burrows or Ryan are being shopped, but those would be the type of players you would expect in return for a Franzie and Filppula, especially with the Sedins liking Franzie and Selanne liking Filppula. Both of which would flourish in Van and Ana respectively...Hell if Sammy scored 30+ goals playing with the Sedins, Franzie may get 40-50...he will never get that here, ever. Filppula is a center, he is being wasted on the wing, but he is better than a 3rd line center. He would tear up Anaheim with Selanne on his wing and we need scoring wingers, not converted playmaking centers here, so Ryan and Burrows would fit that need...as would Perry in the off-season...no need to explain what need Dekeyser and Murray would fill... -

The only silver lining to tanking is Seth Jones...but there is a silver lining to just making the playoffs and getting the 17th or 18th pick....Ryan Pulock. 6'0 211lb Right handed defenseman...if Holland trades this 1st rounder for another Quincey or drafts another soft Euro, he is dead to me! He will need to be fired. -
Gee I wish Flip would score like that now!
-
Wild getting tossed around? Rupp is a huge man up the middle...cap hit is a wash if Palmieri gets to the bigs...I guess it's just a move to get bigger...Too bad for Rupp, because I think the Rags are one of the favs this year...
-
I think Kenny better get his ass on the phones right now!
-
Who is the "They" you speak of? Are you saying Holland wouldn't or Anaheim wouldn't...I think even if Anaheim offered Holland Ryan, he wold still not trade him, because Holland is God and everyone he says is going to make it in Detroit stays in Detroit (gets overpaid) and ends up not getting any better in Detroit... Ryan would flourish here and Filppula would flourish there...its a no brainer...Trade Flip and others for Ryan....get it done!
-
Cleary's time with Detroit is just up...He may have some more to give, but he needs to give it elsewhere because the role he has been given here is not good for him. He is not a top 6 guy on this team, I wouldn't even give him top 9 minutes on this team. He should move on to another team and maybe the fresh start will wake him up again. He is in the same boat as Franzie, they both need to move on for a fresh start they are just dragging this team down. They need to go...
-
Gee, I have been off the Cleary bus for a couple of years now, nice to see the folks catching on...I do agree though, he is worse now than he has ever been...Before I just didn't like him on the top 6, but now I don't like him on this team. Either waive him or trade him for a draft pick...maybe he can go to a young team a be a vet. leader in the lockeroom...maybe. Either way he MUST NOT BE RE-SIGNED!!!
