LeftWinger replied to Tim.D's topic in General
WTF!?!?!? GD it! Please Helm, don't turn into a china doll! -
gdt 1/27 Red Wings 1 @ Chicago Blackhawks 2 (OT)
LeftWinger replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
Of course if the Wings play like the last game, it'll at least be entertaining. Of course Hossa is going to outplay Franzen, but I will definitely say that the Wings will win on the shoulders of Helm and Gunner. (I don't care that he changed his mind and said it is now BREWner, I still like Gunner.) 5-3 Wings (Hossa hat trick) (Franzen 0 points) edit: I absolutely love Tootoo on Helm's line.... -
yes, agreed totally! Here is what I am liking next season for a D-Core....(assuming the Wings do not tank and score Jones and they do not trade Ericsson.) I am betting on either trading Kindl or just not re-signing him. I am also nicely impressed with Huskins, so I would re-sign him. I believe they will part ways with Ian White or he will want to go elsewhere because Lashoff is ready. Buyouts of Sammy (on the O) and Cola (just too injury prone) this summer... Kronwall - Ericsson Smith - Lashoff Dekeyser - Huskins (another #6/#7 UFA or kid) IF they do not tank the season and still get in the top 16 to 20, I am going to hold on hope that Holland drafts one of Robert Hagg/Ryan Pulock or Josh Morrissey. I like him at #16, but not at #2...ISS has him listed at #12 along with Pulock at #17 and Morrissey #20. Pulock has the most mass at 6' 211lbs. but Holland loves his Swedish defensemen and at 6'2 200lbs. if Hagg happened to drop to Detroit, I have no doubt he'd take him...although I think Pulock would be great here. (plus he is Right Handed)

Watch the Western Michigan v. Michigan game last night (Western won 5-1) and got to watch Dan Dekeyser play like he is definitely ready for the NHL. (didn't know he was a junior though) This year more than any he would be able to step right into the Wings lineup after his season is over. I certainly hope Holland doesn't miss out on him, like he did with Schultz....at least with Dekeyser, the Red Wings ARE on his short list of teams he wants to play for...lets just hope Holland doesn't screw the pooch.... I think dumping Kindl and signing Dekeyser would be the obvious thing to do.... Kronwall - Huskins Smith - Ericsson White - Dekeyser Cola (when healthy) Of course Lashoff has more than earned a spot on this team , but can be safely sent to GR until the roster limits are lifted...he has earned a spot on next years team as well and should be awarded so. I couldn't get past the words "Signed Huds to whatever contract he wanted...." without getting nauseous...whew I am glad you added the words "then traded..."
-
Why wouldn't the Wings have offer a job to Robinson? Was he available over the last off season when they were looking for another Asst? Sheesh...
-
Holland should learn from that....sometimes our kids expire in GR.
-
I DVR'd the game and will watch this afternoon. It would make my day to see someone holding up a sign that refers to the Olsen Twins or even Gunner....
-
Ya,.WTF! I work a 17 hour shift and they play like that! I like it, but honestly, now that we know that they can play this good, will they show up every game from now on? This team concerns me, but from the highlights, maybe they are getting better....at least for one game....baby steps.
-
Its ugly so far.....if after 10 games its still this ugly....then holland better be getting ready for a couple trades and that Seth Jones kid....
-
Ya, dunno what went sour for him, but with our lack of scoring, $700g would have been well worth a risk...i know he had the one goal thing, but you got to believe a new team could breathe some new life....
-
I am fairly excited about out prospects for sure, but like someone said, you don't sign someone fror $3M and tell them to sit... I say juggle the lines up....seriously. Filppula - Datsyuk - Tootoo Bertuzzi - Zetterberg - Brunner Franzen - Helm - Cleary Sammy - Abby - Eaves/Miller/Nyquist I know Tootoo isn't a top 6 guy, but he would provide some level of protection out there for Pav and Fil...Same with Bertuzzi. I do not like Franzen (no really?!?!) but I do believe he is a better third line player than a top 6 guy. If he could find some kind of scoring back, he could really compliment that 3rd line...I think Sammy is washed up...I was a bit excited for him when he signed (not his salary) thinking he was the same player as 2008 or when he went to Vancouver, I was wrong about him. If Holland is not going to make that impact trade then line juggling is going to have to be the answer....or at least a try. On the D, considering all the injuries, we may no choice but to bring up another 'kid." Besides, it cannot get any worse on D can it? Kronwall - Lashoff Smith - Huskins Kindl - ?????
-
Did you see something we didn't? For him to be over-ready for the NHL he sure didn't make an impact last night nor did I even find myself saying, wow, Nyquist is good...he was invisible, did not impress what-so-ever. For all the hype for him, he should be making an statement much like Brunner is. IMO, Nyquist is just another Mursak...over hyped and never gonna be anything more than what he already is....and that is not good.
-
I agree! Yet he is still (sadly) one of ou only tradeable assets that may garner something in return.... (I am not counting Helm or Smith who someone would take for sure...they are not available.)
-
Those guys you listed in the OP alone would get draft picks in return...IF you want a impact player in return you are going to have to trade someone of some kind of value. Sure, prospects are always a nice throw in, but you still have to be willing to trade away a roster player that hsa some impact. Filppula and Franzen are about the only tradeable roster players that (throw in a prospect and pick) could very well get you an impact player, may Ericsson....I know my sig has a fantasy trade and it won't happen, but those are the kind of deals you will need to offer in order to get a player in here that is going to take the lead on this team and bring it into the next dynasty. Honestly, with the salary cap I don't ever see another dynasty forming anywhere. The Red Wings need to go ahead and tank it this year and take their chances on getting their own Shea Weber in Seth Jones, or if they so choose Nate MacKinnon. You can look for bandaids everywhere you want, but there are no Weber's/Suter's/Lidstrom's/Pronger's/Neidermeyer's out there anymore that are available, especially with what little we'd have to offer.... Best case scenario, trade your average players for picks and rebuild....Start getting those top 5 picks for a few years and even if Holland isn't a great 1st round drafter he could always trade a top 5 pick for someone of significance...just as long as he doesn't make another Quincey mistake. Franzen may not get you an impact player in return anymore, but I can see him getting a 2nd round pick from a bottom dweller team...MAYBE a 1st from a playoff team looking for some help. I maintain that Franzen needs a change of scenery in order to re-fire his career. He is on a downward spiral here and will end up retired before half his contract is up...

All due respect to Budd and his WWII heroism and decades of work in the organization, but there come a time when change is needed from the top to the bottom... Holmstrom retired today, the last of the dynasty, its time for a new beginning...but this organization refuses to change. That is why you will see the same old crap at the Joe and the same junky music and the same type of players....its over, the dynasty is over, let go. I am sure Budd wouldn't mind, nor his family. Time to stop talking about history and tradition, what did it get us last summer, no UFA's of significance, no players who mean anything want to come here anymore....Detroit has worn out its welcome in the NHL and yet they still keep going back to the same well....let it go....Hey dude, my grandfather was a war hero too, he is dead, I let him go, I don't go around playing tapes of him talking...life goes on..time to move on from Budd, Karen, Stanley the Octopus and Hey Hey Hockeytown...
-
He'll get here somehow....maybe under the name Suter/Parise For President. Exactly, like I said, I think it was Dallas who got out goaltended...it could have been 6 or 7 goals....
-
Oh boy, Nick sure knew what he was doing when he retired! This keeps up with Holland not addressing the issues, the NHL just may tell Detroit to stay home come Winter Classic next season...who wants to watch this hot garbage on New Years Day?
-
I am beginning to question his ability to coach...or at least get these fools to repsond...
-
an sadly Minny is going to come in Friday and destroy us.....then we have to listen to centcougar all frickin night!
-
WTF happend to Tootoo? He had that huge hit in the 1st and I didn't hear from him since....maybe he was told by Holland, listen, we don't play that way in Detroit...sit in the corner until you learn.
-
Kindl and E back friday? Ya that'll help.... Holland is dropping the ball...
-
We were not out-goaltended....we sucked. If anything Dallas was out goaltended, if it weren't for Jimmy they would have scored 6 or 17...
-
Gunner! He is the only consistant guy thus far...that aint saying much for this "great" team...Holland is on the hot poker right now....
-
...and there was no reason to worry last year (when we HAD Lids and Stu) when they couldn't score a goal...again, if it weren't for the new OT rules and a fluky home game win streak, they would have missed the playoffs last season...this has been a steady decline since 2009 and Holland refuses to make the deals he needs to make. Sure he went after Parise, but lost out, so he opted for Sammy? This team is stale. It's been that way throughout last season and thus far this season. There comes a time when change needs to happen. Our top 6 needs a shakeup....he needs to get what he can for Franzen and Filppula and go from there. It that means acquiring a REAL #1 defender or a REAL Sniper, it doesn't matter. Franzen may not even get you a high draft pick they way he hsa turned out.....but at least someone will come up with some heart...and Nyquist is not the one. He needs to get off the small skilled bus....one is fine, 8 is not...
-
another thing Franzen is not.....Holmstrom.... Not impressed by Nyquist, if he was so NHL ready, he sure doesn't act like it...Every single line the Wings have played against thus far this year has been better than any line combo they could come up with... If Holland stands pat this season with this team.....he needs to step down.
