To answer some questions.... The real Datsyuk is still in Russia...he said he loved playing at home and is probably going to go back after this contract...Hey, he wants to go home... I don't think there is a lottery this year (I could be wrong) so the dwarf couldn't fix it, BUT even if Holland did get the pick, he will take a Euro... Quincey is quickly becoming the worst acquistion in Red Wings history...he is catching up to Federko/McKegney... I cannot remember the last time I got excited for a Wings PP, maybe 2002?

Regarding Wiz's comments, I agree, Holland has a reputation for offering UFA's less than they could get elsewhere, but when he did it with Bowman here, Bowman guaranteed that UFA that it was a wise choice to come to Detroit. Holland doesn't have that relationship with players, Bowman is, well, Bowman and like him or not, players knew that he was going to bring the best out of them and make them win. I am willing to bet that if Bowman was here 2 years ago, Wiz would have given less money a thought or two if he had Bowman talking to him. I could see something like this happening... Wiz: So if I take less, what guaratee do I have I will be happy? I think what he is referring to is all the playoffs appearances, the Stanley Cups, the Presidents Trophy's, etc....are all attributed to Scotty Bowman, Haken Andersson and in my opinion Bryan Murray as well. This is the first team that Holland has tried to build by himself and no matter what the circumstances, he is failing at the moment. It goes back to deciding to sign Franzen instead of Hossa (which Bowman would have NEVER done) and it is showing today with his inabilty to land what he needed in the off season and totalling busting a nut with Quincey. Even though Holland has been the GM for a long time, Bowman has always been an advisor and has had a ton of influence on players coming to the team....this is no guarantee, but I have a feeling if Bowman would have been on those plane trips to Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, our chances would have been a lot better of coaxing them to play away from home. Total specualtion, but Scotty always got his man...Holland has yet to do it. We will see what the future brings, but I do believe what Axe said, Holland was made to look a lot better when he had Bowman in his back pocket... A long time ago Haken Andersson used to be the only guy to travel to the remotest area's to find the diamonds like Datsyuk, now, after all of his success, every team has a European scout that goes to Siberia to find these kids. The Red Wings have lost the upper hand in that area. Plus they lost when Scotty left for Chicago... Holland has let this team slowly get worse and worse....it was headed that way with Lidstrom and Stuart, so no that is not the only reason...

also, in all honesty, Wiz isn't gonna win a Norris either. I was a huge proponent of sign Wiz that off season, but the money he got was too much for Detroit at the time. Plus his immature comments kind of turn me as well. Hey James, you see all these guys signing for top dollar compared to signing for less in Detriot...well who has more Cups, they top dollar guys or the guys who took less?
