Would you trade Jimmy Howard for an elite forward/defenseman?

He will be exposed, but so would most goalies who don't have a Lidstrom in front of him. I am in Howards corner, but if the right trade came up, he'd be gone. Business.... When I think of Elite players, I think of Malkin, Ovie, Stamkos, Tavares, Weber, etc... Howard would not garner that type of player in return...

Franzine and Kindl? I would laugh my ass off if Holland came up with a package deal that sent Franzine + to Calgary for Bogosian+. To see my two most favorite players together again would bring a tear to my eye!

Bleacher Report Top 100 Power Rankings

a couple of things: Datsyuk at 79? Ya, ok. Doesn't dangle anymore? Ya, ok. It is great to see Hossa at #45 and Franzen at #......oh wait. Another thing, it's so funny to see the faces of Parise and Suter. Parise looks like he just crawled back up in his mothers womb and is all warm and cozy and Suter looks like he is saying, "this better ******* work out mama's boy!" Oh and Crosby at #1? Hey, the NHL is back, it's time to start the cock sucking again! But the author says he was labeled "The Next One," am I missing something? I do believe Lindros was "The Next One." So that would make Cindy, "Ok, we were wrong about Eric, this kid is The Next One." Of course I laugh at Kesler in the top 10 as well.

I wouldn't mind hometown hero Andy Greene playing here. I do not think they would trade Volchenkov...all depends who is on the block from Detroit.

Visnovsky files NHLPA grievance to void NYI trade

Holland needs to contact Visnovsky's agent to get him to agree to a trade from the Island to the Wings.

Would you trade Jimmy Howard for an elite forward/defenseman?

Honestly, and I hate to bump up this older topic, but I would trade Howard and Franzen to Vancouver for Luongo and Burrows. If I could throw some more in to include Edler then it would be awesome!

Detroit Red Wings Impact Players: Valtteri Filppula

I think Fil has peaked. I like the guy and wold love to see him grow and become a force for the Wings, but I also cannot keep the words of Selanne out of my head when he said he wants to play with Fil. I am still on board with trading Fil to Anaheim for Bobby Ryan, which would help us in signing Corey Perry this summer. How about that line? Ryan - Datsyuk - Perry. Sticking to the topic, again, I really have enjoyed Fil here, he is very valauble to the Wings and if kept around, I hope to see him prosper! (of course he is a UFA and you know he is going to get Ryan-type money, so it would be a wash to trade him. I's hate to lose him for nothing over the summer.)
  8. Should be a great game! Is it really Griffs vs. Wings or is it both teams mixed up together as the normal Red v. White games are? Either way, I look forward to watching this. I too hope that Mrazek is in net. As a matter of fact, I cannot wait for Mrazek to seriously challenge Howard next season, possibly making Howard expendable soon...

    The Power Play

won't happen. Plus he will never be as important on the PP as Homer was. We'll see what kind of net -front guy he turns into, hopefully he finds something to keep him motivated. 20-30 goals in 48 games would up his trade value!

Mark Fistric traded to the Oilers

...plus he is a little tough and can help protect all those kids. If I am not being a homer and look outside of Detroit as to who may win a Cup this year, I am liking Edmonton with all the young legs. I would be pissed if Schultz wins one after he dissed all American teams, but in all honesty, Edmonton looks poised to make a dramatic surge this short season...of course I am a homer and will stay with Detroit until they are no longer in it.

    Wings Looking For Defenseman

I haven't heard anything about Fedorov making a comeback, I though he was happy being GM of CSKA. Funny though, I too would welcome Feds back for this short season. But at 43, I'd moreso like to see him comeback in a scout/coaching position. I am still waiting for the time when our coaching staff exists of Larionov and Fetisov... edit: On topic, I too think that the best thing to try to do is get Visnovsky off the Island (if we could convince him to play here.) Yandle/JBo/Burns/et al. would cost way too much! Besides there will be more than a few available as UFA too come summer...

Holland has only traded two roster players since 2002

Yes, and even though he didn't quite reach 80 games with the Wings, Sean Avery was a big part of this team for a couple of years and he was traded for Schneider along with Kuznetsov who played over 100 games with Detroit. He also trade Brad Stuart this off season. It's very nice to read that other forum and see that Holland indeed was NOT the GM when Shanahan was acquired. So everyone who believes that Holland built the core of the Dyanasty of the mid 90's to 2002 can rest assured that Bryan Murray and Scotty Bowman did. I am not knocking Kenny (too much) because he is a great GM, but he pretty much inherited the team that won all those Cups. We are honestly now seeing (with the retirement of Homer) an entire team built by Ken Holland. I am also filing an official protest against him for trading Aaron Ward for the draft pick they used to get Hudler...Aaron would have been far more valuable to this team than Hudler ever was...plus Ward would not have held Holland hostage during a contract negotiation and then bolt to Russia.

Wings give Mike Knuble a tryout

Why not? Sign him so he can play a couple of games in Detroit...maybe some playoff games, get his name on a Cup. Mostly though so he can get a couple of games in and hang em up playing for his hometown(state) and draft team...I understand. Even Modo retired a Red Wing...

Habs Tell Gomez - Don't Bother Coming To Camp

Would he be worth a shot at for less than $1M? Serious question...I know we have no room, but maybe a shot at him in this sprint to the Cup?

Wings give Mike Knuble a tryout

Miller is a wing....Knuble is a center. Both a very good penalty killers. I am a Miller fan too, but the Wings are in more need of a 4th line center than another winger. Nothing personal, just business...

Johan Franzen - Once and For All

If Helm remains a Red Wing his entire career, he WILL be the next Captain after Zetterberg retires. Z is signed thru 2021, so that will be a long time for Helm to become even a bigger leader on this team. Some say Kronwall is the next C, but his log contract expires before Z's does so that pretty much eliminates him I do believe. I see Helm the next C after 2021. (If Z lasts that long)

Wings give Mike Knuble a tryout

^ That exactly. This is a sprint of a season, every game counts. Knuble's defense is valuable as well as everything stevkrause mentioned... I wouldn't be surprised if Mike is on the starting roster in St. Louis for game 1.

Wings give Mike Knuble a tryout

typical. Dude, Knuble played last year, Lapointe has played since 2008. This is a sprint to the playoffs and to the Stanley Cup. You are not hindering the developement of Tartar if you keep him in GR for this season. Emmerton has been given tons of opportunity, he is no better than a 13th forward on this team, ESPECIALLY with the talent they have in GR. Knuble is a right handed shot that will give them good and solid veteren play on the 4th line and the powerplay unit. That being said, if he signs a two-way and spends his season mostly in GR, I wouldn't be surprised, he did afterall, grow up in the GR area (East Kentwood High School Grad) and probably would like earning a nice paycheck while playing at home...
  19. LeftWinger

Wings give Mike Knuble a tryout

I just look at it as Babcock and Co. don't have enough confidence in Emmerton and with this season when every game counts, they want the best chance to win. I happen to think Abby plays better on wing and getting Knuble over Emmerton is an upgrade at center...40 or not, he is more reliable and more solid than Emmerton. I happen to like the line of those three as well.

Johan Franzen - Once and For All

Helm - 26 points playing a defensive role on the 3rd and 4th line everynight... Franzine - 56 points playing on the top line along side Pavel Datsyuk most of the season... Sorry bub, Helm is better than Franzine PLUS Helm earns his money...
  21. LeftWinger

Wings give Mike Knuble a tryout

Well, considering this is a shortened season maybe Holland and Babcock want a more steady and solid 4th line and power play specialist than the young guys. If he makes this team, it must mean that Eaves is definitely out for the season and this could be the writing on the wall for Emmy or Mursak. Everyone here (well most everyone) complains that Abby is a winger and plays better there, well now you would have Abby - Knuble - Tootoo as a 4th line. It looks much better than Emmerton at center... Filppula - Datsyuk - Brunner Sammy - Zetterberg - Franzine Cleary - Helm - Bertuzzi Abby - Knuble - Tootoo (Miller/Mursak)

Hmmmm...I am still lost for ideas....

Johan Franzen - Once and For All

Actually, you would be hard pressed to find someone who thinks Franzen and Fedorov should even be mentioned in the same sentence. Franzen could not and will never be good enough to even sniff Sergei's sock hat...One can argue that if Fedorov is not on our team for those 10 years, we may still be in a Stanley Cup drought, that same can NEVER EVER be said about twinkle toes Franzine... Franzen should be traded. And speaking of comparng him with Hossa, sure Hossa may get pushed around easily, but Franzen is like a bowl a jelly as well and when the going gets tough he turtles. Oh sure, he can pick on a teenager and throw his mouthgaurd out, but when someone challenges him, he is no more tough than Hossa...they are both soft. Hossa is better than Franzen...period. Franzen will never be Fedorov.

Canadian hockey fans - they mad!

Well, I would say they are getting closer...as a matter of fact that is what said. But to say the are not even close is ridiculous...tell that to the Canadians they last 4 years of WJ's...sure they had a great run for 5 years in a row, but I said, training has changed in the US the last decade and the kids that have started receiving that new training as a 5 and 6 year old are now in these tourney's and playing JUST AS GOOD as the Canadian kids, and it seems, for the last 4 years, the USA and others have played BETTER. The tide is changing, another 5 or so years and you will at least see an even ranking of American and Canadian players in your top 10... again, back to topic, there are some hockey fans that make a mockery of their Country, no matter whatr Country they live in and those particular Canadian fans are among the worst... Got to love the Rivalry though!

Amen! Now, when he scores a goal, I would love to hear the Joe blast a freight train! ?But if I know the Joe's dumbass DJ's they'll play The Locomotion or something stupid...
