    Ryan Suter pissed off

of course he regrets it...lockout or not, he wasn't signing with the Wild until his family convinced him to. He regrets it now and when he is about to retire 13 years from now with ZERO Stanley Cups he will really regret not signing with a real contender (not just Detroit, but a handfull of others that wanted him too...)

    Perpetual line shuffling

blueadams where are you? Geesh, its been a long time since I contributed some lines.... I get tired on the NON shuffling when its needed....example, Cleary is a THIRD line player and needs to stay there! Franzen needs to put up 80-90 points on the top line or get demoted... I am still hoping once the CBA is settled there are going to be some teams that need to dump some salary and hope that Franzen is outta here! Still have the issue with too many forwards too! So unless a trade is made, there will be a ton of line shuffling! He no longer plays goalie?

    [Retired] Official Lockout Thread

Really? Anti-Union much? Lets see, it's the players that are responsible for the revenue that the team and NHL make. People pay their $80 to sit in the nose bleeding corners to just get a glimpse of Pavel Datsyuk or Alex Ovechkin and those players are expected to let the owners not only have the majority of the revenue PLUS accepet paycuts or they should be fired? I would argue the opposite, if the OWNERS cant deal with 43% of the BILLIONS that come directly because of the players that play and bring the fans in, then let them sell the team to someone who can. This is typical of any and all CEO's and Owners of teams...They are ALL making millions and millions and some even billions ( Mike Illitch IS a billionaire you know) and all they want is more more more. Never acknowledging that it is the EMPLOYEE that generates the profits. Same can be said of the NHL as can be said of, lets say, Ford Motor Company. The problem is greed. I am pissed at both sides for not coming to a comprimise, but this is typical Owner anti-union actions. Example: before the IAM was forced out of Delta Airlines, everything was blamed on the labor cost. They cannot do this or that becuase of labor costs....now, no union, same problems exist, but all of a sudden it's because of oil prices, less people traveling...The problem is not the union or labor contracts or collective bargaining, its CEO's and Owners refusal to have a good relationship with the unions. Owners want to be able to do what they want, when they want, no matter who, what or where it affects people and families. Sure the NHL players make waaaaay more money than your typical laborer, but they are the elite of elite hockey players in the world, they should be paid as such and they should reap the benefits of their talents by having at least an equal share of the revenue they create. 50/50 should be the agreement, but the Owners want the majority and the PA wants the majority...50/50, share the wealth equally... they owners need to open their eyes and realize that they make more profits with Pavel Datsyuk and Hank Zetterberg playing rather than Walt the Postman and Joe the Plummer playing...who would you rather pay to see? Now you know why Lidstrom retired when he did...the writing was on the wall and he didn't want any part of corporate greed again...

    ESPN-KHL Deal in the Works?

Nah, you aint old yet! Think back to Ray Lane on WKBD 50 and then PASS Sports.... I would watch KHL hockey on ESPN and boy would this ever grind Gary's nards? Gary is the worst thing to EVER happen to the NHL....no wonder the NBA got rid of him!

    Strangest Moments in NHL History

No Penalty No MANDATORY Suspension...Malkin gets suspended, Wings go up 3-0 in series...can't have the better team win now can we? Yes I am still bitter...Thanks Uncle Gary, not only did you hand Pit the Cup, but you have once AGAIN caused a work stoppage in the NHL...

    Team or Players?

point is, lets say the "real" players are never asked back and then the "replacement" players would be the "Real" Detroit Red Wings....I'd still root for the Red Wings... It could happen, but I would almost guarantee the "NEW" players would NOT be part of any Union...

Any NHL'ers from your home town?

Ya, and don't forget the whole Ohio State thing....He may have claimed to be a Av's fan but I can bet you my life savings he celebrated them and probably went to both the 97 and 98 Stanley Cup parades...

    2012 Lockout Watch

Three stoppages under one President....ugh....lest we forget when the Refs were replaced once too! Maybe Bettman should become a Abassador over in the Middle East....ok, not really, just kidding there, but he has to go!

    2012 Lockout Watch

You think the likes of Phoenix is bleeding cash now? Lock the players out again...we'll be back down to 24 teams in the NHL. Bettman = Worst thing to happen to professional sports.
  16. So, who is out when the season starts? Emmy? Mursak? Eaves or Miller? Two must go, whichever two go, we should get a nice draft pick for them...

So What's Up With Abby & Quincey?

...are there any rumblings or rumors out there concerning these two? You would think that as RFA's they would be signed before July 1st (if they really want to come back.) Maybe Abdelkader will a bit harder to re-sign than we imagined... I know Holland was kinda busy today but I would hope he at least has talked to Abby's agent. I wonder what the hold up is for him...he may be looking for (and could possibly get) near $2M somewhere. I would think that that would be a bit much for him, but you never know around the league. If that is the case, I'd sign them both and trade them...possibly in a package to the....Ducks! Sorry, but until Bobby Ryan and Justin Schultz are unavailable, I am going to try to find ways to get them here!

The best players YOU've ever seen...

I honestly do not know how you even put Crosby on that line, let alone in your lineup. All due respect to his talents, at their repsective ages, he cannot compete with Sakic, let alone bumping Bure and Selanne out of a lineup. These guys played in a clutch and grab era, if you took a 24 year old Sakic/Selanne or Bure and put them in today's NHL and put Crosby back in the early 90's NHL, first of all, Crosby would have been knocked out of the league already via his 100th concussion, he also would not have been able to get anywhere with two extra hands on his stick. Bure in 2012 at 24 years old? Sheesh, 90 goals not out of the question...

The best players YOU've ever seen...

Well...I am going to go non-homer other than mentioning Yzerman in his 80's prime and Fedorov in his 90's prime... I was born in 70, so I have had the honor of seeing a ton of great players in their prime...cannot list them all, but just saying Lemieux, Gretzky, Jagr, Brett Hull, Coffey, Ray Bourque, Sakic, Forsberg...the list goes on. It was a pleasure seeing these guys all in their primes. Just seeing the 80's Oilers fly around the ice was amazing. When I think back at all the greatness I was able to witness in this, the best sport on the face of the Earth and think what Bettman is/has done to this sport, I am disgusted...three work stoppages in his tenure? Time to go... Other than the hockey hotbeds, I am not sure teams will survive another lockout....when mentioning all these great players, I cannot help but think how Gary Bettman is just a skid mark on the jocks of these players who brought the NHL from the likes of "Slapshot" to the mainstream and Bettman has ruined it... Anyhow, one of the best to watch was Jagr in his prime....Crosby doesn't hold a pubic hair to Jagr's talent at the same age...
  20. I mean Michigan... They are now right where they belong...in the losing column! Retard Robinson gave a valiant effort (sometimes) and yet Michigan's golden boy couldn't bring them to the level of the Tide's jocks, let alone attempt to compete with them...#8 in the country? Ya, in their dreams... ...What could be almost as enjoyable as a Red Wings victory? A Wolverine loss! Franzen Trade Bait? Possibly!

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1320562-nhl-trade-rumors-franzen-is-key-piece-in-red-wings-getting-top-four-defenseman I love anything to do with Franzen being an EX-Red Wing! To dump Hudler and Franzen in the same off season would not only make me happy, but will instantly make this team less soft! Don't worry, the goals will be made up for, we won' miss them...

One Dumb move made by each team this offseason

I don't even know why he was given a NTC, it's not like there will be teams asking about him at the deadline...but in reality, Sammy replaces Hudler's offense and is a lot more physical and a ton better defensively, so with that I believe the Wings upgraded with Sammy over Hudler....Tootoo brings to this team something that we have lacked since Aaron Downey circa 2008 and Monster is an upgrade to Conklin and MacDonald. I too would have loved to have Semin (ok that sounded gross) on this team along with Doan or Parise or Suter or Ryan or Nash...etc...but looking at last season, I don't think we are too far off from that except for the Lidstrom replacement...and even then, near the end of the season and playoffs Lidstrom was playing sub-human...I dislike Quincey, but he will be a fine replacement for Stuart and Smith will be great this year. Kronwall will top 40 points (he will outscore Suter, quote me on that (as long as he stays healthy)) The Wings only have 6 defenders signed and the need for a 7th is there for sure. I feel that unless teams need to have a fire sale after the CBA, that defender will be a #4 - #6ish in the pecking order... I really think that Smith is going to be better than we envision and soon it will be Suter who? So if our only dumb move was not signing Suter, then I think that we may be the only team to not actually have made a dumb move...

One Dumb move made by each team this offseason

What's funny about this scenario is, Ryan Suter said he called Dany Heatley and asked him if they could win in Minnesota and Heatley said "yes" and that made his decision to scoff the Wings and go with in-laws a little easier, so if the cap goes down and they have to dump salary, Heatley will be the one traded... I find this very ironic and f**ckin All-Star hilarious! on a side note, I cannot wait for Suter to regret being swayed by his in-laws...verbal agreement with Detroit, then persuaded to go to Minny by wife and her family...for basically pennies more (when it comes to the millions he signed for) that is sad...so sad...

    Franzen Trade Bait? Possibly!

No....Fedorov had 11 twice. If the GWG actaully meant Game Winning Goal, then even Franzine's 10 would mean something, but GWG only means the goal that the other team lost by, so it really means nothing, especially in the case where you are up 6-0 in the second period and the other team falls short of the comeback and loses 6-5, that 6th should NOT be a GWG. A GWG stat should only be counted if the goal unties the game in the third period or later... Game tying and Game winning goals should only add up in the third period (or later for the Game winner)

    Franzen Trade Bait? Possibly!

You sure? I was about to! Anyhow, I agree for the price, 30 goals is well worth it!, Especially considering the contracts handed out this summer. ie. Parise for his 30ish goals (although in the same amount of time Franzen is WELL behind Zach in scoring,) it's just the laziness I cannot stand. Franzen scores 29 goals being lazy 75% of the season, how about playing hard for 100% of the season? He probably would score 50 goals...He is needed in the top 6, I just don't like him... I too hope, if he remains a Red Wing, that he tops at least 40 this season and if he approaches 50 then that would be great! BUT, we still need a defender and if it will come via trade, then Franzen is definitely on the top of most GM's list...
