Our Current Defense / What Holland Can Do *merged

Ok, so, lets sign Arnott and Kubina (and of course Abby) and hit the road running... We'd have to lose three of Emmerton/Mursak/Miller/Eaves/Cleary though... but I do believe Arnott brings more to this team than Emmerton or Mursak...unfortunately for them. Of course I think I heard Nyquist has options left to be sent down, so that is always a possibilty to start the season to see who steps it up... Trading Mursak/Emmerton would bring a couple of draft picks and if they to dump one more of Miller/Eaves or Cleary that would also bring a fairly nice draft pick, if Nyquist just tears up training camp and GR... FORWARDS Damien Brunner ($1.350m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Mikael Samuelsson ($3.000m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Danny Cleary ($2.800m) Justin Abdelkader ($1.250m) / Jason Arnott ($3.750m) / Jordin Tootoo ($1.900m) Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) / Drew Miller ($0.838m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Pavel Kubina ($4.550m) Kyle Quincey ($3.775m) / Ian White ($2.875m) Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m) ------ SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,733,712; BONUSES: $425,000 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $5,466,288

Doan staying in PHX 4 yrs $21.2 mill

Well according to our favorite hockeyyinsiderr, Pitt has offered Doan a 4 year $24M contract....$10M the first year, $8M the 2nd, $4M the 3rd and $2M the last... Thoughts? Should Holland offer something like this?

No, this guy was mentioned on here around the same time Brunner was first mentioned... Edit: Jonas Holos was his name...wonder what is up with him.... Yes....yes....and yes.

    Yannick Weber

Wow! that would be a lot of trading!

    Ryan trade is a must!

I'd love to have Ryan here, but I think the Wings should make a trade for Yandle and then hope he can sway Doan our way... edit: Still would LOVE for Holland to sign Welsh to an offer sheet just to get him in the organization! Him along with Sheahan, Smith, (hopefully) DeKeyser and soon enough McKee will solidify the future for sure! I love College hockey players making a big splash! (except I hope Schultz fails epically!) Lest I forget Abdelkader! The future so bright, I gotta wear shades!

our current defense is incomplete...there are only 6 of them. Got to have that #7 guy. I wonder who it will be? What was that guy over in Europe that the Wings had interest in? There was a thread about it, but I cannot seem to find it... I know he had an O with a slash through it or something like that...

Feds has wanted back in the the Winged Wheel since he left...he was a little mad that Holland didn't re-acquire him in 2008... Well, that is my little fantasy at least! I too will be SUPER excited to see #91 out there with the Wings again...at least in some form. Too bad he didn't re-sign here for a year to finish his career. I liked the Modano signing, but Feds would have been great!

What no Kozlov? Must still be pissed they traded him... anyway, if somehow, someway Vladdy skates out onto the ice, the crowd will bring down Comerica! Could you imagine, Vladdy in full uniform, skating in the #16 again? referring to the Fedorov thread, asking our feelinsg about him....guess we will soon see the fans feelings! I missed it, was Chelios playing?

Joe Kocur and Kevin Maguire? Let's get it on!
  12. anyway...centcouger (new account?) I think Detroit is still a desirable place for UFA's or nobody would ever come here...ever. There has been plenty of UFA's pass on Detroit throughout the last 20 years, has it made Detroit any less dominant? No, and the fact that Mary Kate and Ashley chose to play close to family (for more money too mind you) does not mean Detroit is not a destination desired by most NHL players. It is only the situation that are in and looking for that leads them to where they go. Ask yourself this if Detroit was such a horrible destination, why is it when players are asked to submit a list of 5 or 6 teams they would waive their NTC/NMC for 95% of the time (if not 100%) Detroit is on their list...Seems to me I rarely see the likes of Minnesota or St. Louis on anyone's list... Sometimes, more cash and family are things that another city cannot compete with...I am good with that, and can understand. I have pride in the fact that, when a UFA does sign here, he RARELY goes anywhere else after, unless it is for one of those reason's, family or just looking to cash in. The ONLY reason Hossa isn't here for 12 years rather than Chicago is the fact that Holland chose Franzine and wasn't sure what Hudler was going to do re-sign or explore RFA, he chose Russia instead and Hossa had already gone due to cap space or lack there of...One mistake Holland will not admit to making.

    Your thoughts on Sergei Fedorov

Although stat-wise and how much he meant to this club pretty much makes him deserve the #91 in the rafters, the fact(s) that he left twice (for all intents and purposes) will pretty much guarantee he won't get that honor...I am not even sure Ilitch will take the #91 out of circulation. Martin Frk does wear #91 and if he is all he is cracked up to be, that could be the guy to wear it...

Do you want us to trade for Ott?

No, I want them to trade for Yandle or Ryan. That is all we need. Ott would be nice if we weren't so loaded already in the bottom 6. But the only trade(s) I want to see is Yandle or Ryan...Haven't heard even a rumor ot Ryan, and barely one of Yandle...

    Bottom Six

as was mine to begin with, but I didn't want to start a thread about it and figured if there was a deal going on, he'd be a bottom 6 here anyway, so I put it here...oh well. Still don't know why he is in town, haven't heard a word otherwise about it...

    Bottom Six

Didnt know he was from here, everything I see says he is from Salt Lake. That was were he came in from today...oh well, back to normal conversation....

Interesting event....Trevor Lewis just arrived in Detroit with only a small equipment bag and two sticks...he came in from his hometown of Salt Lake and Detroit was his final stop....could there be a trade in the works with LA? I have a few pics of his stuff, but not sure how to up them on my phone....none the less he is in Detroit for some reason and it appears he is here for some light workouts.... Edit: figured it out Interesting personal codes on his sticks....

    Wings & Yandle twitter-rumors? Believable?

No to trading Smith...I don't think Holland would do that, ever. Holland has been waiting for Smith to come up for a long time (as has Babcock) the only time I EVER want to hear the name Smith mentioned in trade talks, is if the name Weber is coming back. Period. I do trust Holland's mind, I don't think he would trade Smith...

    Wings & Yandle twitter-rumors? Believable?

I would hate to see Filppula go (although being a realist, I know he is one of only a few assets other teams would want) and I really would like to see what Nyquist can do with top 6 minutes, BUT, you don't get the opportunity for a Yandle (or a Bobby Ryan) all the time. Yandle has 4 more years left on his contract (I think) and he is fairly cheap. He is only 25 and has YET to hit his prime. I would rather trade Fanzine and Tatar instead, but if we did get Yandle, I think it would be better than signing Suter (other than the losing assets part.) I will say what a lot of you guys have told me season after season, Ken Holland forgotten more about hockey talent than most of us know, so if he feels that Fil and Nyquist are expendable, I trust him. Especially if it brings in Yandle...

Speaking of twitter, a tad off subject, but today my 5 year old is having ******** surgery and my avatar, Katie Morgan, sent me a personal tweet giving best wishes to him! She said, Hang in there! Lol! Ok, back to topic....trade.Franz not Flip! Really? T3sticle is censored? Lol!

    Your thoughts on Sergei Fedorov

All this fricking debate about how he left for money...etc...let's revisit the situation.....December 2002, Holland offers Fedorov a 5 year $55M contract, Fedorov asks if they can wait until the end of the season because he is going through a divorce and in the process of hiring a new agent....fast forward to July 2003, Fedorov goes to Holland and wants the deal, Holland says the deal is off the table and now there is a 4 year deal for less money (I forgot the amount)...Fedorov wants the original deal....Holland says no deal, Anaheim offers Fedorov the same 4 year deal and off he went...He didn't leave for more money....he just wanted the offer he was offered in December... Fedorov #91, to the rafters!

    Your thoughts on Sergei Fedorov

If Fedorov or Ozzie won't be retired, then neither will Dats or Z... BTW, Crymson, you say he could not lay claim to being an absolute cog in the team or be an organizations Heart and Soul....take Fedorov off the 90's teams...nowhere NEAR the success and they would not have won 97 and 98 Cups without him...barely even 2002. Fedorov damn well deserves his number retired here, more so than Ozzie, Dats or Z. When Dats wins a Hart or Z wins a Hart or scores 60 goals, then we'll talk with them in the same sentence as Fedorov. Do me a favor, put Dats and Z in the clutch and grab era...I am not saying they arent great players in their own right, but if Dats and Z are already getting consideration for retirement, Fedorov is a shoe in. The ONLY thing is if Illitch is bitter over him leaving on the terms he left...which was Illitch's fault anyhow...

The State of the Central Division

I still think Detroit will better Chicago, the will give St. Louis a run, but just may fall short and finish 2nd in the Central....and we'll have to listen to cprice all over again....blah!
