So, according to the DETNEWS article today that the bidding for Doan is starting at $7.5M, if so, take a long walk off a short pier! This is the problem I don't get...owners want to cap the spending, yet pay outrageous amounts of salary just to outbid someone else! Shane Doan is NOT worth $7.5M....If he get that offer and takes it, then he is all about the money...unless a contender offers it to him, and I hope its not Holland....Make the trade for Nash or Ryan, they are at least YEARS younger and will be worth the money long term...No more than $5.5M for Doan...anything else would be asinine!
-
Ya, it prolly means he is gonna wait until training camp, re-sign then when November comes and they dont get what they want from the voters, he will then ask to be traded or just put everyone through all this again next July...
-
So, So, So, SO tired of this bulls***! Just f**king stay in Loserville, Arizona...where they'll pay you $3M to re-sign because they cannot afford a higher payroll. I wouldn't doubt if Bettman told all upper level UFA's to avoid Detroit or they will be fined or contracts null and voided...what Bettman really wanted with parity was keep Detroit away from the Cup...he already changes rules to give Detroit the disadvantage...Probably told the Olsen Twins to stay away too...
-
You forgot the sarcasm tag....I will win the lottery before they win a Cup... I don't get it....
-
Well then move on, make the trade for Nash or Ryan....come october if.Doan decides to s***, then he can get off the pot and sign here.
-
So is it correct that I am hearing that the owners want a Cap on salries and to do away with long contracts? All the while its the owners that are overpaying these players AND giving them 13 year contracts? So if those are two of the issues, what part is the players fault? Reminds me of UAW bitching about paying workers so much to be on unemployment, yet the companies are the ones who agreed to those terms...

As The Hockeytown World Turns....So Are The Days Filled With Crickets... Why all of a sudden this off season, these guys are taking so long to decide where to play? It just seems like everything is taking so long this year...drives me nuts!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6j4JBkqsFG8 While pondering the idea of not getting anymore D help other than Q once he is awarded a contract, it would be nice to see this kid in Detroit for some games here and there (if it's possible)...he is the next D in line on the prospects list behind Smith and l am pretty impressed with him. His highlight vid looks just as impressive as the Justin Schultz one that everyone has watched...at 19 years old he is 6'3" but only 186lbs. By time he hits 21 I am sure he will weigh more...he is big and a right handed shot...that shot looks pretty impressive from what I see here. I think the Wings D is in good shape, Suter-less and when this kid is ready to be here fulltime, I think he will become a very solid and dominant player...

Argh! Stop bumping this thread! Parise + Wild + Suter = Epic Kronwalling.....
-
Yahtzee!
-
Homer.....come on....it's over...no, just...no.
-
Yes, he is 22 and huge...he should get a good look this fall and really get some time in GR. He is not on the top 25 prospect list right now, but he is sure to climb the ladder if he continues the way he is going...Give McKee a couple of years at WMU and a couple in GR and he too will be a force in Detroit. Nicastro is another right hander too! I am also looking forward to big things (no pun) from Bodin in a few years... If Holland lands Weber, he and Smith, Q and Kronwall are going to lead the way for all these kids and it looks, right now, that it's gonna be a bright future on D in the D... (cannot forget Kindl and Ericsson) Yes, things look very good...I still would love for Holland to add DeKeyser to the mix as well...
-
Because Babcock has talked high praise of him ever since he coached him in the Olympics... Yes, give some players with heart their icetime and you'll be asking Franzine who? Hudler who? Thank GOD hudler is gone and I hope for Franzine's trade everyday...I am sooo tired of his inconsistent, lack of heart, lack of motivation, he needs to go...
-
Of the two (Ryan or Nash) I prefer Ryan, but I think they are very high on Nash. I think Babcock is a huge fan of Nash and really wants him on his team... I would take either so I am on board with Nash to Detroit (especially if it rids us of Franzine.) Wow, to lose Hudler and Franzine in the same off season would being like a party in my tummy! I'd have nobody left to complain about on the team...and THAT would be a 1st! edit: after thinking about it, it would come down to Bert or Cleary....

Shane Doan - 3 yrs $18M....sign it up!
-
Win Win....get the trade done!

Mursak is a 4th liner in Detroit...Tatar is nearly out top prospect behind Smith and Nyquist who will no longer be prospects this year... Given ample opportunity to play on a top 6 line, Mursak can and will excel. I am just saying, that trade would be more than enough to acquire Rick Nash...the only thing is if Howsen would try to gang rape Holland because of the Central Division... Well considering that Detroit is on his short list, it is still a possibility...If Holland would have the balls to let loose of Franzine is the question...
-
Columbus wants 2 NHL ready forwards for Nash....Franzine I think would qualify as more than NHL "ready." Mursak and Tatar are BOTH NHL ready...add the 1st round to sweetin the pot because we are within the Central....No brainer on both sides... Kenny BETTER be freakin desperate for a big name top 6 forward...and the three guys going to CMH is not too expensive...Franzine needs a change of scenery in order to allow him to enjoy himself again....Nash is just what the doctor ordered for Detroit. It's the same as the Bobby Ryan proposal, get either of these two guys here and it makes Detroit that much more attractive for the likes of Doan, Gezlaf, Perry and Weber. If Detroit traded for Nash (or Ryan) and signed Doan (3yrs) then imagine what the team would look like if you added Weber on D next off season and one of Perry or Geztlaf... That would make this teams's core, along with Dats, Z & Fil one of, if not the best in the NHL...potentially your roster would look like this: Nash - Datsyuk - Nyquist Doan - Zetterberg - Perry Brunner - Filppula - Samuelsson Tootoo - Helm - Abdelkader (/Bertuzzi/Emmerton/Eaves) Kronwall - Weber Quincey - Smith Ericsson - White Kindl
-
If that is what Columbus wants for Nash, then this trade should be done already, unless Holland refuses to let loose of Franzine... to CBJ : J. Franzine, J. Mursak, T. Tatar, 1st round pick to DET: Rick Nash That should be a no brainer...
-
Franzine/Tatar/Mursak/1st would be better....
-
I think that Holland should NEVER be content! EVER! He needs to be in perpetual motion! Changing, bettering, just frickin let go of Franzine! Trade Filppula for Ryan!!! Selanne wants him there and will press the Ducks to make the deal! Just NEVER EVER be content! You have to be better than 29 other GM's...never settle...
-
Come on Shane! $5.5M for 3 years to win a Cup! (Who knows who else may show up to win! (cough cough, Ryan, cough Nash, cough cough Weber...ahem....excuse me...)
-
Ya, its just me being ovee anxious....I do hope he chooses us!
-
I'd rather the Wild just not make the playoffs, if we did pay them in the 1st round, we'd have to deal with you know who for a couple of weeks... I don't think we suck, but we lack a legit top 6 scorer, I am afraid to play the wait and see game with Brunner and Nyquist...just my nerves....argh!
