    Buck Wild?

I'd rather have Ryan here than Filppula and Selanne...why? Cost... Ryan is signed for 3 more years at $5.1M...Flip is UFA next July and will get $5M+ somewhere if not here...Ryan at $5.1M is far better than Flip at $5M+. I like Flip a ton! But if he is the key in getting Ryan....DO IT! Kenny.....Get it DONE!

Wings hire Lidstrom as overseas amateur scout

We'll have McKee and Bodin in a few years...no worries about big and strong hitters... Of course LIdstrom is gonna work for the Wings over there, did anyone expect anything else? You know what I want? Someone in Russia finding the next Fedorov/Datsyuk... side note: without bumping it, I am sure glad the Suter/Parise threads are dropping off the first page....looking forward to the Kronwalling!

    The Next Move

Hence acquiring Bobby Ryan...adding Shane Doan only helps this team...This guy can and will score 30+ goals playing with Pav or Z...Ryan scoring 40 is not unrealistic. Bobby Ryan is 24...trade for him then in three years tie him up for the rest of his career...Parise who? to ANA : Val Filppula, Jan Mursak, Tomas Tatar, 2nd round pick to DET : Bobby Ryan it's almost explains itself....sign Doan, Kubina, Q if the price is right... Roll On! (Getzlaf, Perry, Weber available next July) What do you mean? He offered Suter less money so he could play for your team....he did it for you!

Because that is their line in World Play....great chemistry! Of course would rather have Malkin Datsyuk Kovalchuk but now we are talking dream land!

    Zach Parise

No need to come at you anymore...you got the UFA's...yet you only quote stuff from June...where is the stuff quoting Parise when he said if it weren't for family he'd be back in NJ....sounds like he only chose minny for family... oh and right from Suter's lips he was going to pick Detroit but was talked into Minny by family and Boy George. Sounds like he only chose minny for family. I cannot argue family ties...and if they both had family in Seattle, they'd be in Vancouver right now...you got them, congrats, but don't think you won because of the Wild's stellar history or future. Detroit, Pitt, Chicago, Philly are all better places to play if you want to win on a consistent basis. The Wild have a 3 year window to win now..if they don't, it will be rebuild again and then Suter will be kicking himself for listening to his in-laws and barney rubble... For you sake, I hope you get that Cup in that window...then you can happily and deservedly come in here and gloat...but gloating because the Wild just happen to be in St. Paul and you got these two by default, doesn't win you anything...except the fact that you did say long ago that you felt they would go home to play...but if they chose Detroit, we'd have been right, if they chose Pit, they would have been right...someone was going to be right and 29 other were going to be wrong... Don't just pick and chose things to make yourself look smarter than what you are...be humble enough to admit, you only got them because of family, if it weren't for that, they wouldn't be there...they didn't pick you because you are their best chance to win consistently...so get over yourself. And no, I am not sour grapes, would've loved to have Suter, but cannot fight family ties...I feel good that he was coming here, but went with family...too bad choosing family will pretty much guarantee never winning a Cup.

Uh....ya, ok. Pit would never let him go! Unless he wants out... Datsyuk, Semin, Malkin top line? I could deal with that!
  7. LeftWinger

    Buck Wild?

Honestly yes...Thier team is at it's best point right now...They have most of their lineup from last year and have added the bobsie twins...their window is in the first three years to win a Cup...they have to re-sign Backstrom after the season, Clutterbuck too. Heatley and Gucchi will be in the last year of their contracts and will be looking for hefty raises. Cullen and Bouchard are also due up next July...their team can get way worse in three - four years. I think if they don't win a Cup within 3 years, then team will be in anther rebuild session in 5 years (especially considering the way ownership gives up on young players too soon) and that is when I believe Suter gets divorced and unfriends Parise from facebook because he will blame his wife's family and Parise for his stupid mistake...Parise will hang in there, because he doesn't care to win...if he did he'd be in Pittsburgh right now...

I think Semin is out....Trade for Ryan, sign Doan, sign Kubina, wait on Q's hearing...shake rattle and roll... I hate to lose Flip, but for Ryan, yes! edit: Yes I am talking like its a done deal, because I have confidence that Holland will let loose his canon "balls" and do what needs to be done to usher this team into the next 20 years of dominance! Bobby Ryan this year, Getzlaf or Perry (or both) and Weber next year...

What happens if the new CBA lowers the Cap?

I find this funny, yet when I am forced to take a paycut and I protest or threaten strike, I am greedy in the public eye and should be happy to giveback to help save my company and mutli-million dollar CEO's who cash in stock options and give themselves million's of dollars in bonuses when they successfully get concessions...sorry, back to the scheduled topic...
  10. LeftWinger

What happens if the new CBA lowers the Cap?

Yes, I believe the salaries are adjusted accordingly...if the cap goes down 10% so does all salaries...I do believe...

I agree....Holland should make the Ryan deal by Sunday, which will sweetin the eyes of Doan to us and help convince him to come here... As much as I would love Yandle, I don't think Holland makes two blockbusters. I think he goes for Kubina and waits to see what the arbitration comes up with for Q... as much as I am in favor of trading Q, if his salary comes in around $3.5ish million it would be fine... Kronwall - Kubina White - Quincey Smith - Ericsson Kindl not as pretty without Suter there, but still a pretty nice lineup... I think Semin is out...but it won't matter with Ryan and Doan in our top 6...

    Buck Wild?

Ok, you said it "HE WOULD BE A SOLID SECOND CENTER..." that is what Anaheim wants in return...nobody is s***ting on Filppula. But you are not going to get Bobby Ryan for our 13-16th forwards in trade...geez! Anaheim wold not take Franzine from us...they want Filppula. Filppula almost guarantees Selanne returns for another year, he has said for awhile now he wants to play with Flip. Filppula is both our trump card and the key to this trade...I too would rather trade Franzine before Flip....or niether at all and just give them five 13th forwards for Ryan, but it doesn't work that way... Filppulla/Mursak/Tatar/Draft Pick should get it done. Great 2nd line center and two NHL ready prospects...we will not miss those two guys...first of all we'd have Bobby frickin Ryan and our stable is still full of younsters: Jarnkrok, Pulkkinen, Jurco, Frk, Sheahan, Sproul, Tvrdon, Athanasiou, Bodin, McKee...the future will be fine!

    Bobby Ryan

Bobby Ryan makes $5.1M and is signed for 3 more years....Flip is UFA next July and will get $5M+. Ryan at $5.1M for two years is more valuable then Flip at $5M. Anaheim loves Flip and knows that they would get Selanne back for another year if they got him. Selanne has said how much chemistry they have on team Finland and he would love to play in the NHL with him. I am telling you we hold the trump card in Filppula, especially since in essence they would be getting Flip AND Selanne for Ryan. They'd also have a top 5 prospect in Tatar and toss in NHL ready Mursak and a pick...I think it's a done deal... If Franzine can get us something valuable in return, then great, but if not, I will take his 25-30 goals along with Ryan's 40 and Pav's 100+ points.

Dear Mr. Holland: Forget about FA, trade for Yandle and Ryan

http://detroit.sbnation.com/detroit-red-wings/2012/7/6/3141173/bobby-ryan-trade-rumors-detroit-red-wings All just speculation...but if Holland pulled off acquiring Ryan...the Future looks brighter than even with Parise...first Ryan, then Getzlar or Perry....or both!
  15. LeftWinger

    Semin

I am holding out and supporting Holland, but everyday I think more and more of what Wiz said last season about Holland not paying the market value...I do believe that Holland ALWAYS offers the least amount of money for any one UFA. IT's really not until he actually lands one or trades for someone when they realize that taking a discount is worth staying here...that being said, taking a discount to come here the first time very rarely happens (Hossa being exception) and we are seeing with this bit of news. If indeed Semin signs with Pit, guarantee it will be for more than what Holland offered...if anything. Holland needs to losen up the strings a bit more and stop trying to, for lack of a better term, low-ball these UFA's... Holland should offer Semin $5M...Doan $6M....if they sign somewhere else for that amount it is because Holland low-balled them...I believe in Kenny and until all the good players are gone and we are stuck with current roster, then I will turn my opinion around...he needs to let go of Flip or Franzine and get Ryan here...he NEEDS to get Doan here...Semin wold be great, but I can live without him...

    Buck Wild?

all the naysayers on here are ending our season already? Holland isn't done... Doan is still there, there was just a report that Holland is in the hunt of Bobby Ryan, so it's not like we have sunk to the deepest depths of the Central division. I would say if Holland got Ryan, Doan and Kubina, other than Suter being better than most of our D, and honestly, I would put Kronwall right up there with him...Kronner had 37 points being on the 2nd pairing, Suter had 46 points on the 1st pairing...when it comes to hitting, Kronwall eats him up all day. I would give Suter the nod defensively, but other than that, pretty equal...except when it comes to pay... Parise actually had better centers in NJ. Koivu is really good, but there is only room for one leftwing on his line and Heatley will start bitching if he gets bumped off of it...he is the f***in allstar you know... It's not like I am saying they aren't any better, of course these two makes them tons better, but I think Parise scores less in Minny than he did in NJ...I could be wrong, but we will see. I am more afraid of the Blues (:puke: oh....excuse me that just snuck up on me) than I am of the Wild... They are not in the central so we won't see them as much as I'd like, but no, I am not afraid. As long as Holland isn't done. Ryan, Doan, Kubina and I think Holland is ready to roll... FORWARDS Johan Franzen ($3.955m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Bobby Ryan ($5.100m) Shane Doan ($5.750m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Damien Brunner ($1.350m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Mikael Samuelsson ($3.000m) Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.500m) / Jordin Tootoo ($1.900m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Pavel Kubina ($3.000m) Kyle Quincey ($3.550m) / Ian White ($2.875m) Brendan Smith ($0.875m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $65,383,712; BONUSES: $462,500 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $4,816,288 It's not as pretty as having Parise and Suter on there, but it's still a very VERY good roster...

Dear Mr. Holland: Forget about FA, trade for Yandle and Ryan

I see, but here is what I think. Anaheim seemed confident enough in their D that they traded Vishnovsky (sp?) away. I really don't think acquiring Ryan would cost us Smith...Nyquist maybe, but I think Kenny could get away with Tatar instead since he seems nearly ready to make the jump. The Wings wouldn't miss Tatar especially with the other's in our top 10 prospects PLUS the guys they picked up this June...

Dear Mr. Holland: Forget about FA, trade for Yandle and Ryan

I feel the most important thing to do is trade for Bobby Ryan...why? Not only will he be great here (as he is in ANA) but next season BOTH Getzlaf and Perry are UFA's...would they be butt buddies like Parise/Suter and want to go somewhere together? If Bobby Ryan were here, it could give Detroit a bit of an advantage in that...even if just one joined him here... Odds are Quincey will get signed (blah) unless he is awarded a God awful contract...Trade for Ryan, Sign Doan... accept Q's contract if it is low enough and go from there...next season...try to score Weber (as will the rest of the NHL) and then try to get Perry or Getzlaf... I cannot stress enough how important getting Bobby Ryan has on the future of this franchise...Filppula will get a $5M contract next July, Ryan is signed for two more after this at $5.1M...next year, Ryan at $5.1M is far more valuable than Fil at $5M. I love Filppula, but have problem giving him up in a package to get Ryan...as long as it doesn't cost Smith...get the deal done! edit: Also if Holland wants to keep Kindl at #7, he could sign Kubina... FORWARDS Johan Franzen ($3.955m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Bobby Ryan ($5.100m) Shane Doan ($5.750m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Damien Brunner ($1.350m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Mikael Samuelsson ($3.000m) Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.500m) / Jordin Tootoo ($1.900m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Pavel Kubina ($3.000m) Kyle Quincey ($3.550m) / Ian White ($2.875m) Brendan Smith ($0.875m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $65,383,712; BONUSES: $462,500 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $4,816,288 I am actually ok with this roster...I have obviously traded Filppula, Cleary, Mursak and Emmerton all in various fashions...I am not saying that is the package to get Ryan by no means. But Filppula, Mursak, Tatar, pick should do it. Then Cleary could just be traded for a 3rd round pick and Emmerton can be traded as well for a pick. For the record, I'd much rather trade Franzine, but Anaheim would take Filppula or sure...
  19. LeftWinger

Dear Mr. Holland: Forget about FA, trade for Yandle and Ryan

Yes, agree....he has to cut loose Franzine or Filppula and make a splash...btw, I don't think I have seen you post on here for years! a trade for Ryan a trade for Yandle and sign Doan... that would be a nice roster to move forward with! If he is a UFA next year, I am sure Holland will heavily pursue Weber, hopefully with a better outcome, but I am sure centcougar will have the inside scoop on that one...when the time comes...

Brunnstrom Update - Expects to sign new 1-yr 2-way deal

Looking at the current roster, right now you'd have to say the two odd men out are Emmerton and Mursak (trade for picks maybe?) and if Holland signs Doan, then who is the next to be out? Miller? Eaves? Looks like a trade is going to have to be made...I would still trade Filppula (or Franzine) in a package for Ryan to clear roster spots for Doan and Nyquist....does Nyquist have in waiver options left? If not, things are gonna be crazy! Especially when/if they re-sign Abby! So then who's out? Without a trade of 3 or 4 forwards, we are overstocked and will lose some to waivers I do believe... For me, trade-able assets up front are Franzine, Filppula, Cleary, Bertuzzi (Holland likes him too much) Mursak, Emmerton, Miller, Eaves...they may choose to trade Abby's rights but, I think Holland likes him too much too! Now if Brunnstrom comes in and makes the team with hard play, then what? Sheesh! I would hope that Holland could turn three of those guys, plus Tatar and a pick into Bobby Ryan...then get a defender somehow without trading Smith or Nyquist...
  21. LeftWinger

    Semin

Morrow? That would be a trade and I mentioned Morrow months ago only to get screamed at! I would love Brendan Morrow on this team, but what would he cost s in assets? I say let Semin go to Pit...I touched on this subject before...he needs a setup man for him to reach his potential...Ovechkin and Malkin, albeit can pass the puck for sure, are more of the sniper themselves...Datsyuk, while he can certainly put the puck in the net, is more of a pass first player. If Semin wants to sign a 2 year deal somewhere in hopes of getting a bigger contract later, he best bet for stats would be here...but whatever. We already know very few payers now a days choose their teams that give the best chance to win, they chose it for money or comrades...
  22. LeftWinger

    Rozsival anyone?

agreed....right now, barring trade options, these type of defenders are all ok choices...I just hope they all don't disappear before Holland decides to put the Ping's down....
  23. LeftWinger

    Phoenix Coyotes "Folding" an Option?

If you think Yandle would be there when Detroit would draft, you are nutty! Of course I am sure teams would have to draft accordingly to their cap space... If this is indeed an option that the NHL is thinking then Detroit better get Doan signed and trade for Yandle NOW! When it was our turn to pick a Coyote, one of our traded assets may return here for free then... Not that I would want Franzine back....
  24. LeftWinger

    Semin

Hey if Detroit doesn't want Semin, then so be it...I say go full force for Bobby Ryan...Filppula, Mursak, Tatar a couple of extras should get the job done... A legit PROVEN 2nd line center (who will be as smooth as cake and butter with Selanne(assuming he'll play agian)) and two young prospects with tons of potential... Trade for Ryan, trade for Defenseman, sign Doan...hold on tight!
  25. LeftWinger

    The Next Move

Well that quote is pretty disappointing sounding... I do like the three guys that he picked up, but that all hinged on landing Suter as well... The fact remains, the Wings NEED a top defender AND a top 6 guy still... just signing Quincey ( bleh ) will not make your D any good and the offense is pretty shallow right now....please don't tell me that just because while he was kicking the tires and two went flat that he is just gonna go with spares instead of get new ones...please Holland, at the very least Doan, Semin & YOU MUST get a defenseman....YOU MUST! This current defense is very weak...don't let the fact that Suter got away take the wind out of your sail...
