Ya, seems like they were so pleased in beating perhaps the weakest (skill and injured) Red Wings team to enter the playoffs in their 21 appearances. They were definitely the shallowest one when it comes to depth. I am glad that they enjoyed it so much, if Holland makes the right changes, it won't happen again...
-
I would sum it by saying, the Kings are a model much like the Canes, Ducks and Lightning were models...
-
Well, it all depends on what it would cost to get Iginla or what it would cost to sign Semin...I definitely think Iginla is the better player, but if Semin comes on Hudler's salary, that is cool. But if he wants $7M, then Ignila is a the better choice, depending on what Calgary would want in trade...
-
Kings are not a model, nor a dynasty...Wings soft and need about 3-4 players to replace what we have...who those are? Dunno... But landing Suter/Parise would be a great start!
-
That "pair" will have to come in the draft...two things though, with the Wings always making the playoffs and most the time going fairly deep, they never get a high enough draft pick to score a Yzerman type player and there are barely anymore Fedorov/Datsyuk's to steal away from Russia. I agree, they need to get that next two or three centers to carry this team after a few more years, but honestly, I don't think Holland can do it. And I definitely do not want to see the Wings get a first overall pick (unless it's via an RFA lose or trade.) It could potentially happen next season if Holland lets RFA Quincey sign somewhere else and gets compensated with the 1st/3rd draft picks and if that somewhere else ends up being a lottery team...it could happen... edit: Wow! I don't get it...

If you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin! I'd take Clowe in a trade for sure!

Seems you may be the one, since that is all you care to comment on....maybe I should have said "take your head out of your ass, it's making your dick hurt" My point was, you refused to read anything and just want to belittle someone. I only mentioned Semin in threads that is was appropriate, not every thread like you said and that just shows that all you want to do is belittle someone instead of "take your head out of your ass" (better?) and actually realize how dumb you sound. To say that my insight and ideas about hockey are boring and dumb is no less of an insult than what I said to you. I can guarantee that I know more about the sport than you do, and in between my rants and raves (as with most user here) I do happen to provide some interesting conversation's and contribute to others very often as proven by my post count and my monetary contributions to support this great site. So, do me a favor, if you do not like what I talk about, don't become a part of it, don't reply, don't neg, don't +, don't read it. Just find someone else to neg and talk crap about, but don't whine and complain when that other person strikes back at you as well...Thank You, have a super dupity day!

Parise - Suter - Vokoun edit: Doan as a backup plan D
-
Godspeed Jiri! It was fun (not) but I do wish you the best! Seriously, if Holland has any words for Hudler on his tongue, it better be "good luck with your career!" If Holland re-signs Holmstrom & Hudler, may as well forget getting better up front, because unless Holland trades some folks off this roster (I hope not) there will no room for a UFA.

I honestly think that Quincey will only be signed IF Holland cannot land Suter and/or Lidstrom retires. If the cap raises and Holland can get BOTH Suter and Lidstrom, then there is no room for Quincey with Smith expecting fulltime status and Kindl still in the mix. With all three of Quincey/Suter/Lidstrom that bumps Smith back to GR and Kindl as trade/waiver bait and puts a $3.25M(at least) player as our #7. I don't see Holland allowing that much money sitting in the press box... Defense W/Suter & Lidstrom (if cap increases) Kronwall - Suter White - Lidstrom Ericsson - Smith Kindl ...like I said, IMO the only way Quincey gets re-signed is if Holland cannot have BOTH Lids/Suts Kronwall - Lidstrom(Suter) White - Quincey Ericsson - Smith Kindl ...it's kind of a sticky situation, depending on when Holland finds out if the Cap will increase. He is going to have to be VERY aggressive on July 1st for Suter, PLUS offer a qualifying offer to Quincey (@ $3.25M) in order to be eledgible to receive compensation picks if Quincey goes elsewhere. If he finds out before July 1st about the Cap, then he is in a better position. Sign Suter, qualify Quincey (hope he doesn't accept) and then re-sign Lidstrom and get picks for Quincey (1st & 3rd.) If for some reason ALL THREE do sign, like I said I cannot see Quincey sitting at $3.25M (unless Smith is gonna be #7,) he is going to have to unload Quincey and I do not think he will get in trade a 1st and a 3rd, so he may as well offer him the lowest, hope he declines and signs elsewhere...

at how this Iginla vs. Semin thread has turned into a Clowe thread... Topic...If Iginla and Semin were our only two options, I am still going for Iginla. (sorry to disappoint ya kip)
-
Far from homophobic...just as far off as you are by saying I mention Semin in every thread...I only comment on Semin when he is brought up and like I said, excuse me for talking about Semin in the Semin thread...I don't like Semin, but the subject was if he came here for Hudler type money, then yes, he would be a nice experiment...take a look at my posts again, I think you have me mixed up with someone else. But if I do make up a thread about Semin then you can bring your hate and your extremely boring hockey analysis, when that analysis always includes knocking someone else's opinion...
-
...so then why was our PK so bad then? Although Clowe and Pavelski would be a couple of nice additions...
-
Ya, we'll have to hope Parise has a Hossa moment an signs here while passing up the ridiculous contract offers...I don't see anything wrong with a 10 year $7.5M per season offer...but ya, he will definitely get those $10M per season offers and I do hope that Holland doesn't go for that... I hope Holland lands Suter for sure though...
-
Obvious choice to me, but who would it take to get Iginla here? Plus he is at $7M...could Holland afford all three of Iginla, Parise and Suter? Or would Iginla take us out of the Parise-stakes? I guess if the Cap goes to $70M, Nick takes a nice respectable discount, that would be a pretty awesome roster... Just who would be gone? I would think Franzen? Filppula? Prospects? Hate to lose Smith, but Tatar and Andersson are expendable...along with Franzen if the Wings got both Iginla AND Parise... edit: OP, you should add Parise to your poll to see what everyone thinks! Of course how about this question: Lidstrom & Parise or Iginla and Suter? Hmmm....
-
Blah, oops sorry!
-
I hope its the start of something big, because signing this guy and Homer takes up two roster spots that can be better filled...that's all I meant. Oh and the fact that Holland continues to try to make his team small, soft and Euro...he refuses to change, it seems this is all he knows how to do and that is the sign of an out of date GM. Small and soft isn't bad as long as you have a nice balance of big and hard to play against as well... Speaking of a trade, it's reported that Columbus is looking at the Rangers forward Chris Kreider and D Michael Del Zotto in a possible deal for Rick Nash. I don't know too much about those two, so my questions is, on the current Red Wings roster, which players would be our equivalent of those two to try and land Nash? Who is our Kreider and Del Zotto?
-
Nah...my first priority is Suter, but it will sting a bit if some other team signs Parise for less than $8M, because if that is the case, then we know that Holland tried to low ball him...same goes for Suter. That will mean one of two things, Holland low balls them or Detroit is no longer a prime destination for UFA's and that my friend (no matter how many Cups he has been part of) will be the barometer that measures Ken Holland. If UFA's no longer wish to play here, then Holland will need to go...
-
Yes, in my perfect world scenario, Holland lands BOTH Parise and Suter and still have enough money for Helm, Abby, Lids and bring up Smith...but it wont happen if the Cap does not increase. THat is the only way we get all three Parise, Suter, Lidstrom because I only get just under $3M left over before Lids signs and Smith comes up... For me, either the Cap goes up or Lidstrom hangs em up...I just cannot pass on Parise and Suter. If I cannot get both or even one of them, then Lids can return and I look at lessor talent (than Suter/Parise) to try to better this team...For me though, I think #1 priority is Suter, then Parise is 1a.
-
A great Birthday present it would be indeed....
-
Only if he wants to...if the Cap stays the same, it will be hard to make this team a real contender again by giving Lids $6.2M...

Here is my $70M Cap Roster: Zach Parise ($7.500m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) Danny Cleary ($2.800m) / Darren Helm ($1.250m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.000m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Ryan Suter ($7.500m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Nicklas Lidstrom ($6.200m) Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Tomas Vokoun ($1.250m) ------ SALARY CAP: $70,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $67,142,045; BONUSES: $37,500 CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $2,357,955 Subtractions from the team are: Hudler, Holmstrom, Mursak, Stuart, MacDonald & Quincey(since I don't think he will accept $3M or less, he can go RFA.) I only gave Parise and Suter $7.5M because they signed 8+ year deals. I still have $2.3M in Cap space, so if they wanted shorter (5 year) contracts I could up their salaries by $1M each and still be above the Cap... If the Cap remains the same or only slightly rises, then I am still going hard for Suter and Parise, Lidstrom can hang em up along with Holmstrom and then I am getting a cheaper 5th or 6th dman to rotate with Kindl. I am also signing Dan Dekeyser AND Jeremy Welsh to play in GRR next season and help secure our future! I'd love to have a Brenden Morrow in here, so if maybe a package of Cleary and Mursak would get that done, then I am all for it! I know he makes $1.3M more than Cleary, but I still have cap space to acquire him...that is just a from left field exchange though...if Cleary stays healthy, he is a great 3rd liner.

I'd gladly give them $7.5M+ to be Red Wings for the rest of their career's Bertuzzi's NTC was for last contract, he does not have one for the next two years This couldn't be any further from the truth...No way either of them will get that much. Helm will get $1.5M and Abby $1.25M tops... Good, I'll be happy getting a first round pick back for him PLUS a third to boot! (hopefully he signs with a bottom dweller like Edmonton or Montreal or Columbus, I will gladly welcome that 1st and 3rd for Quincey!) So I would have to offer him a $3.25M qualifying offer for a year and hope he doesn't accept it... Compensation for 2011-2012 RFA's: $1,034,249 annual cap hit or less: No compensation $1,034,249 — $1,567,043: Third-round pick $1,567,043 — $3,134,088: Second-round pick $3,134,088 — $4,701,131: First and third-round pick $4,701,131 — $6,268,175: First, second and third-round pick $6,268,175 — $7,835,219: Two first-round picks, a second and third $7,835,219 and higher: Four first-round picks Amen!

I feel like changing my vote to ZERO...re-sign Holmstrom? Offer a contract to another small Euro player? I sometimes think Holland doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground...
-
what else does the league want? The got their "parity" throughout the league, revenue is up, they got the Cap in place, they got their "KID" the Cup (maybe one wasn't enough and they need changes to make sure he gets every two out of three?) I don't know what else the league would want from the players. If the NHL suffer another lockout or lose of an entire season, it is over. It cannot survive another whole, half or any part of the season being cancelled... I cannot see why Bettman still has his job, half a season lost in 1994-95, entire 2005 season lost AND now this possibility!?!? Why does this fool still have a job? He has done hardly anything GOOD for the NHL and tons bad!
