Report: Jagr to test free agent market

He only had 54 points in the regular season and 1 goal in the playoffs... ...we have a 56 point scorer in the regular season and 1 goal in the playoffs and I can't believe I am going to say this, but I'd just rather keep Franzen... :puke: argh, sorry that snuck up me! Let me get a napkin... ...ok, Franzen is cheaper, younger and well, already here so unlike Jagr, he wouldn't bump someone off the roster... Parise - Dats - Nyquist Franzen - Zett - Filp Bertuzzi - Helm - Cleary Miller - Abby - Eaves Emmerton (Mursak)or Moen if Eaves isn't healthy enough yet... Trade or waive Emmy and Merz if Moen is signed and Eaves remains healthy... No thanks Jagr, not even for $1M...I'd rather have Moen, he is more of the type of player we need to change the way teams approach playing us... edit: And if Holland cannot sign Parise, instead of just going to washed up 40 yr olds, he should seriously see what it would take to get Nash here. Wings need a Parise or Nash, not a Jagr...

Report: Jagr to test free agent market

For the right price I'd ta.........nah, no thanks! We have plenty of roster players, need Parise and Suter. I'd rather have Nyquist up permanently than Jagr....

Suter most likely out of Nashville

Yes, my point exactly. But just like Wiz, players do go to bottom feeders for a bigger payday than if they wanted to actually win. Marian Hossa passed up a lifetime deal worth nearly $10M per season from Edmonton to sign in Detroit for that one season to try to win. He was willing to stay for even less, but Holland chose Franzen and Hudler over him...just goes to show, there are some players that actually take less money to win...

    What Lidstrom NEEDS to Do...

COrrect, that is why I said trade them. May not get much, but at least it's not losing them to waivers....Tater's situation I am not so sure about...

    What Lidstrom NEEDS to Do...

ACtually, if the Cap goes up to $70M, Holland will have exactly $26,482,955 to spend. Suter and Parise should cost at least $15M together, Lids gets $6.2M and Abby/Helm get $2.75M combined. That leaves $2,532,955 under the Cap for a REAL backup goalie and then some left over... That is with Emmerton, Mursak & Mac on the roster, in which I think all three should be traded or demoted...Adding to that Sheahan is still showing on the roster, demote him and you are getting another $2,533,333. So after Lids, Helm, Abby, Suter, Parise Hollland should still have around $5M under the Cap after trading Emmerton/Mursak and demoting Mac and Sheahan. Life would be good if the cap increases!

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

On a different note, I REALLY hope Holland signs Jeremy Welsh to a contract for GR. He is 23 and 6'3" 200lbs. He could, along with Sheahan, become a force in the NHL in a year or two. I also am still hoping the Holland inks DeKeyser as well. Sheahan/Welsh Smith/Dekeyser All playing together 5 years from now in their primes...NICE!

Suter most likely out of Nashville

Well lets hope it's the Detroit Brass salivating to sign him, and not just the fans doing the salivating...We salivate every year only to be disappointed most times, lets hope Holland is salivating so much the he owns stock in Sani-wipes...

    Red Wings Way Of Rebuilding?

This! But I think what he meant was more teams get 100+ points now because of the stupid shootout and 1 point for an OT loss. The test would be to look at the points and take away the one point for the OT or SO loss and see where everyone would have ended up...or take away the shootout and see how many would've ended in a tie for 1 point....too much for me!

Suter most likely out of Nashville

If Holland offer them both $7.5M per for 5+ yrs. That should be enough to entice both of them. But if they'd rather sign in Columbus for $9M, then let them... I don't doubt that if their respective clubs don't see a re-signing coming, their rights will be traded before they become UFA's...

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

Well, now since I have had time to calm a bit down from my disappointment for the Wings this season, and since the Cap may go up to $70M, I have re-tooled my 2012-13 roster a bit. I have left Franzen alone and re-signed Lids too. But it is imparative that Suter and Parise get signed! Zach Parise ($7.500m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) Danny Cleary ($2.800m) / Darren Helm ($1.250m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.000m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Ryan Suter ($7.500m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Nicklas Lidstrom ($6.200m) Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Tomas Vokoun ($1.250m) ------ SALARY CAP: $70,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $67,142,045; BONUSES: $37,500 CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $2,357,955 If Eaves isn't gonna be healthy, then get Moen for $1.5M. The only thing I didn't do was re-sign Quincey. I didn't want to make Smith #7 and there is NO WAY Ericsson or Quincey will be #7, not for the cash they will be making. Offer Quincey $3M, if he wants more, I will be glad to acquire the #1 and #3 draft pick for him. edit: negged? Guess you don't want Suter, Parise AND Lidstrom? Ok then....sure would like to hear your ideas...
  12. LeftWinger

    Chances of landing Parise?

A good chance if Holland offers at LEAST 5 yrs $7.5M per season. If Holland pulls the bulls*** that "noone makes more than our captain or Datsyuk, etc..." then there is ZERO chance. If the cap goes up to $70M, he can give BOTH Suter and Parise $7.5M, give Helm and Abby nice raises, then re-sign Lids to whatever Lids wants. I say we can offer Quincey a contract of $3M, if he doesn't bite, then let him explore the NHL and collect the 1st and 3rd round pick... :SLAP: My heart could not handle making that decision.....

Suter most likely out of Nashville

Just looked on capgeek, didn't know Rinne is signed already....$7M?!?! Yikes! Through 2019? They sure threw a lot of eggs in that basket! They may lose BOTH Suter and Weber....
  14. Yes, here is my $70M Cap Roster: Zach Parise ($7.500m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) Danny Cleary ($2.800m) / Darren Helm ($1.250m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.000m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Ryan Suter ($7.500m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Nicklas Lidstrom ($6.200m) Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Tomas Vokoun ($1.250m) ------ SALARY CAP: $70,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $67,142,045; BONUSES: $37,500 CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $2,357,955 If Eaves isn't gonna be healthy, then get Moen...

Hey you may on to something! anyhow to OP, good bit of speculation, lets all cross our fingers that Detroit is on his short list! Thanks for the info!

    The new guys thoughts.....

Nash would be great, but I am not sure they want to invest all that cash in Parise/Nash and Suter. If somehow Holland acquires Nash, then you can forget one of Suter or Parise. Then again, nobody really knows what is going on in Holland's head. He could be looking at completely different UFA's...
  17. LeftWinger

    What Lidstrom NEEDS to Do...

Of course, if the cap does rise to $70Mish, then we are talking a whole different monster. Holland could throw $15M ($7.5M each) at Parise and Suter, $1.25 at Vokoun, $1.25M at Helm, $1M at Abby, let Quincey go (collect draft picks) let Hudler walk and ALSO give Lidstrom his $6.2M and that would be a great team. I'd even let Franzen stick around... FORWARDS Zach Parise ($7.500m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) Danny Cleary ($2.800m) / Darren Helm ($1.250m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Justin Abdelkader ($1.000m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Ryan Suter ($7.500m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Nicklas Lidstrom ($6.200m) Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Tomas Vokoun ($1.250m) ------ SALARY CAP: $70,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $67,142,045; BONUSES: $37,500 CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $2,357,955 Leaving $2.35 available for injury call-ups and extra cash for depth at deadline...as much I as dislike Cleary and Franzen and believe they need to be traded. I can really get behind a roster like this...of course that is IF the Cap goes up to $70M.

    What Lidstrom NEEDS to Do...

I agree with all of you, and I just used Parise and Suter for the sake of the thread subject as that is who most folks would like to see here. I know they aren't the only options, but they are two of the best options. Also, I am not saying Nick MUST take $3M, I already said, Holland won't "offer" him anything, Nick will say I want this and he will get it. The point of my topic was I hope that Nick would tell Holland, "get the guys here that are going to take this team over when I leave and help to keep them at the level that is expected of the Detroit Red Wings...pay what it takes to get those players here and then we'll talk about my pay." Nick knows what they need, he knows just reusing the players from last season isn't going to get them even a sniff of the Cup, let alone win it. He knows they need a high scoring sniper and a legit #1 defenseman. He knows they have to re-sign their future in Helm and Abby. He knows Nyquist and Smith are going to be staples on this team from here on out. If we all know it, then he is well aware of it. I mentioned a REAL goalie to push Jimmy. I mean that he needs to know that if he falters that someone is there who could possibly take his job. Not that his job is in jeopardy, but it will keep him on his game 100% of the time. Also, like mentioned above, it gives the team and the fans no worries about the duo itself if something would happen to Jimmy or when he needs nights off. I mention Vokoun. He wanted to be in Detroit last off season, but opted for Washington for a starting spot. Well, he kinda lost that there. He wouldn't have a starting spot here, but maybe his stance would have changed about being adamant about a starting spot. If not, then fine, but I would think he'd like to go somewhere to hav a great shot at winning a Cup. Especially if Holland spends his cash correctly and the UFA's take notice that Detroit is serious about getting back to the final's and winning...Getting the likes of Suter and Parise here would be a huge signal to the rest of the NHL and available UFA's...besides he only made $1.5M last season, he wouldn't get more than that, if not a bit less.. I agree that the Wings don't need BOTH those guys or we're screwed, but they do need those type of changes, or yes, they will be screwed. Cannot give Lidstrom $6.2M and THEN try to sign those type of players. Holland could sign Lids and acquire Ignila to try to "Go For It" one more time, but then Suter is signed somewhere else, Parise is gone...It's just my opinion that Holland needs to stop this "put a band aid on it" by signing old vets to go for it one more time, because he needs to secure the future of this team. If he opts for only Parise and then gives Lids his money, he damn well better be planning to ****** Weber up next off season when he is a UFA, because I believe that one of Suter or Weber should be a Red Wing in order for this team to remain the Elite club that it is expected to be. You guys may disagree with that, but that is fine. Detroit cannot afford to let the likes of any of those three to go to St. Louis or Pit or Chicago or all to Nashville... I just hope Lidstrom takes the road I talked about, secure the future then give an old vet one more shot!

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

didn't say "complete" garbage...but for the most part, outside of the streak, it was hot garbage. Power play was horrendous, penalty kill horrifying, they played very bad on the road all season, defense was very suspect all season, the players who were supposed to help carry this team, disappeared (one to be expected) and for being the "best" team at home, they couldn't win at home when it counted....Hot Garbage. I do appreciate things, but I cannot accept this crap for a team I am so passionate about.

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

No, not a Dynasty, but FAR better than last season's hot garbage...
  21. LeftWinger

Will the Wings keep Kyle Quincey?

Offer him a 5 year $3M per contract. A bit less money, but more security and more money to make the team better. If he doesn't agree, then let him decide what he wants to do. Get the 1st and 3rd round draft picks if he signs for more that elsewhere...Win-Win situation.
  22. LeftWinger

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

Parise for 10 years $8M per (front loaded) is well worth it....Holland better be serious this July!

Johan Franzen wants to 'have more fun'

Call it whatever you want, but when you make a list of "snipers" in the league, Franzen will not be on it. Is he the closest thing the Wings have? Maybe, but he in no way is a "sniper" elite or not. A "sniper" can score from anywhere from anyone...Take him off Datsyuk's line and he barely nets 10 and that is not a "sniper." Of course that is my opinion just by watching him without Datsyuk at the end of the season...He has no heart, it's no wonder he gets bored. He sure has financial security though...
  24. Lidstrom needs to let Holland pursue Suter and Parise with his wallet wide open, then re-sign Helm, Abby. Then and only then, should Holland sit down with Lidstrom. For the first time in a long time, Holland's #1 priority is not to re-sign Lidstrom, but to secure the next 10 years of this franchise. If Lids wants to be part of the transition, he needs to step back, let Holland spend his Cap, then come in for one more season and a HUGE reduced rate. Honestly, with Suter being signed, Kronwall playing a larger roll and Ericsson looking to get even more ice and White still here, Lidstrom may actually be a #4 or #5 defender is he re-signs...
