WCQF Game Three GDT : Predators 3 at Red Wings 2

I am going to hold all my comments until one of two things happen, they lose or they win...just so I am not accused of flying off the handle and typing irrationally or Heaven forbid, be accused of not being a Red Wings fan... I believe it is because I am such a huge fan of this organization is why I call out the players I feel don't belong on this historic and proud team. But like I said, I do tend to sometimes get the "what have you done for me lately" attitude when I type during and after a game, so I will watch, hope, and pray they win it all. Meanwhile I do look in here once in a bit, and today I have noticed a lot of disgust and unfavorable positions when it comes to (Playoff)Franzen. I know everyone believed he wold turn the switch and re-appear back from 2008. He still has time, but it is quickly running out... Go Red Wings!

Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Couldn't be put any better! Illitch should take his billions along with the other Billionaire owners and resurrect the WHA! This is, by damnit, a World League, so tell Bettman and his special rules for inferior teams and players, to take a freakin hike! While we're at it, let's tell the US Government the same thing! Rise up! Take over your lives! Save your family! Bring back REAL hockey! put him back on the roids...

Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

While I agree with everything else you said, the two bold parts will NEVER happen...they'll just enforce with their powerplay and Playoff Franzen...

Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Well, this just means Friday, Zetterberg will wind up and haul off and give Weber a mouth for of composite, right? Really though, I wonder where Mike Ilitch is in all of this? This is a star player of his, he is definitely NHL royalty (Ilitch) so he should call out the NHL. I never hear an owner complain about anything the NHL rules on. This was obvious a blatant intent to injure and he gets fined $2500? Really? Weber farts $2500... Without going through this thread, what was the reasoning behind just a fine? I am appalled by the league again, and again and again. This really means that it's ok to headhunt without fear of suspension. The worse part is, the game was over, it was already won, what did Weber gain by doing this? It was just a blatant intent to injure. It wasn't the heat heat of battle, it wasn't an accidental hit to the head. The game was over, the was not even a need for a pat on the ass, let alone a head into a turnbuckle type play... I am absolutely disgusted by the NHL yet is does not surprise me

Darren Helm out for playoffs with lacerated wrist

Hey! This sucks! Helm was playing great! This will no doubt effect the Wings, but they are still the best team in the league and will overcome! Ha! I understand your joke there, but some people might think you really wish bad things upon the Omnipotent Red Wings and since their feelings will be hurt they may take offense...but ya it was just a joke...sort of like someone else saying "That is a bad cut" which was taken as a joke, but using the word slice is a little out of line and offensive to some of the challenged users....

Wings meet Preds in First Round

So no one is allowed to have an opinion other than Red Wings are Gods and they will win it all? Do you honestly believe they are going to throw a switch and become the team that you, everyone and Holland believes this team is? I hope they have one of those switches, but the team that I watched since the trade deadline has shown me nothing to prove they are going to win anything. Even after they returned from injury, this team still lacked something. I really hope they show up and I hope they look into their hearts and actually play like it matters, because guess what, now it does. I hope the 2011 Red Wings show up and not the 2012 ones...

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

I am changing this team. I know they made the playoffs, showed a little heart, they almost made my 6th place prediction come true, so I am not happy with this team at all. They backed into the playoffs and pretty much have lost it's identity this season. I realize it was probably an expensive asking price on Trade Day, so I won't hold Holland too accoutable and noone can predict the injuries, but some of the players that were relied upon to step up, failed. This is all hypothetical and what I would want to see done. Prolly won't happen, even though it is affordable, but hey, I can want... Lidstrom retires, Holmstrom retires, Stuart leaves. I am not re-signing Hudler and I am trading Mursak, Franzen, Cleary, Kindl and Emmerton. I will send Franzen + off to Dallas (he can star with Eriksson for the next 10 years) for Brenden Morrow then re-sign him for a longer deal, then acquire whatever I can draft pick wise for the rest. I am re-signing Abdelkader, Helm and Qunicey to discounted but longer term deals. I am then signing Suter for $6.5M long term, Parise $6.7M long term and Semin $5.0M long term. When I say long term I mean at least 5 yrs. I am promoting Smith and Nyquist full time, also Tatar/Sheehan will be up & down here for the 13th forward to rotate in and out. I am not sure on a 7th Defenseman, but I am sure a serviceable one will present itself. For GRR I am signing Dekeyser for the D and I wanted to sign Jeremy Welsh but he was already plucked by Carolina...another miss for Holland. Anyhow, here is my 2012-2013 roster: FORWARDS Zach Parise ($6.700m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Alexander Semin ($5.000m) Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Henrik Zetterberg © ($6.083m) / Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) Brenden Morrow ($4.100m) / Darren Helm (@) ($1.000m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) / Justin Abdelkader ($0.866m) / Drew Miller ($0.838m) Tomas Tatar ($0.840m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall (@) ($4.750m) / Ryan Suter ($6.500m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Kyle Quincey ($3.000m) Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m) GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Joey MacDonald ($0.550m) This actually leaves $973,000 available under the CURRENT Cap. Of course if the Cap drops (which I doubt considering the revenue the NHL is bringing in) then some numbers could be tweaked, but this roster is sitting pretty good as it stands... You may like it or not, and I am sure you will tell me about it, but this team beats the current team hands down all season long AND in a series.

Wow! Really? Someone thought that this update deserved a neg? You got problems son... Do you think that Kindl is better than Smith? Honestly I think the same user negs me everytime they see me post...that is what drives me nuts and why neggers should be held accountable to explain their neg...

    ATOs for Grand Rapids

Didn't I read today that Oulette and Sproul have signed with the organization? Sheahan was very impressive all year long with ND and I expect more to come from him! I remember back when on one of the days that we were discussing players that you would absolutely not trade, I always included Sheahan. I think he is going to be a beast once he breaks Detroit's lineup, maybe not exactly like, but almost like Brendan Shanahan type player...given the right players to play with...

Me too! I'd hate to see him go anywhere else but here, but NHL or AHL...which would you choose? I just hope he decides to take the I-96 route...

The reason The Wings shipped Mike Commodore

Besides, Kindl hsa peaked....he was drafted in 2005...he is what he is, nothing more, nothing less. If anyone with half a mind thinks that he is going to improve his game after 7 years already playing pro hockey, then you need to take that brain back to the lab....same goes with Ericsson, you've seen his best. He may be solid, but he isn't going to get any better, he may stay the same, but he is not going to be as good as Kronwall, he is a career #5/6...Kindl is a #7 on a contending team, maybe a #5/6 on Carolina or Columbus...
  18. LeftWinger

The reason The Wings shipped Mike Commodore

No, from what I understand is that there is no roster limits so Kindl would not have to be sent anywhere, but Holland chose to play Kindl over Smith and didn't want smith sitting and not playing, which I understand, but he should be playing over Kindl...he is much better than Kindl...let Kindl sit in the pressbox. EDIT: and I'd much rather have Smith and Dekeyser here over Kindl anyway, so trade Kindl in the offseason for whatever you can get for him, which isn't gonna be much...maybe future considerations if they're lucky...and no, I didn't neg you...

The reason The Wings shipped Mike Commodore

*UPDATE* According to my friend (the one who date's Dan's sister) Dan is making a decision on Thursday! Of course this just after Holland decides to send Smith back to GRR in favor of a less talented Kindl. That doesn't show Dan much confidence that Holland seriously wants him in Detroit, but only to play in GRR for 4-5 years first. Holland is going to shoot the pooch on this one with the way he has handled Smith. If Danny signs somewhere else it will be all Holland's fault in the way he handles his players. Say what you want about Holland and his supposed best GM in the world status, but he definitely messed up by sending Smith down and not just sitting Kindl. He better hope that Danny wants to be a Red Wing so bad that he is willing to pass up instant NHL play to sign here and be stuck in GRR until he has no more options to be sent down...but I doubt that will happen. Danny will sign somewhere else, become a star and Holland will still be considered the best? This is what I laugh at. A combo of Smith and Dekeyser would be much more physical and productive that Kindl/Ericsson. I certainly hope Danny wants to be a Red Wing REALLY bad! Also, Dan's mom likes what Burke is saying in Toronto and now Philly and Calgary are involved in wanting to sign him...along with Tampa still. He said Dan told him that he wants to play in Detroit, so I hope that he chooses here. But he could be a millionaire in one of the other cities and be playing NHL NOW, but not so much on a 2-way contract in GRR. I don't get Holland sometimes, Smith has done more in his short time here than Kindl has done his entire career...well, at least this year. All I got to say is Holland best not miss out on this one.... EDIT: Not that I am saying Danny should be in the lineup now with Smith, but there is no way Holland should let Dekeyser go somewhere else and he should ditch Kindl over the summer and have Danny be one of the constant call ups all season long. But the prospect of being buried in GRR for 4-5 years cannot be too attractive...

    Happy Turtle Day

Well, I just turned 27 two weeks earlier and my friend (I've known since we were 12) calls up and says, hey I got a birthday gift for you, let's go to the hockey game tonight. He wasn't and still isn't the biggest Wings fan, I told him it may be a bad game to go to since the Wings haven't beat the Av's yet all season, but I am not going to pass up on a Wings game. Well, you guys don't need to be told about it, you have all lived it in one way or another...my favorite part of this whole game is when the brawl happened with Vernon, the Wings were losing and my friend looked at me and said, I don't even care if they lose this game, this is the best game I have ever been to! And so it was Dave, and so it was! It is still one of the best birthday gifts ever! EDIT: Jeez! at 5:37 of that video look at how young Holmstrom looks! Yikes! I like him in 15 better than 96...wish he would have kept it!

Brendan Smith sent back to Grand Rapids

Exactly, funny I got negged for saying Smith should be playing over Kindl, and you got a plus...Maybe the guy who negged me was totally in love with Kory Kocur or something.... But ya, Smith needs to be here and playing, Kindl is just not as good. Pure seniority move by Holland...

    3/24 GDT : Hurricanes 4 at Red Wings 5

Thank you! It's funny, but someone negged me when I said I just wish the negger's would say why....that is what I mean about some of these users.... Wow, imagine that, you got negged for speaking the truth...Heaven forbid the truth gets told here....let's just end this now... Red Wings are Gods! They came back to beat the (LOL) Hurricanes! They will sweep their way to the Cup! Folks, is that really what you want us to all say? Grow up and be real...and open your mind a bit...

    3/24 GDT : Hurricanes 4 at Red Wings 5

Oh, but if you actually read the post you just replied to, I did refer to the one time I said "This team is Horrendous" and I said that after the quick powerplay goals. This team is a bunch of ******* AND you guys are delusional if you think this team is gonna win the Cup with the crappy special team play. So where is my crying and whining and unjustifiably saying that the team is horrendous or calling out the fact that the problems were not addressed? Did Holland try to address them? Maybe, but the fact remains that Franzen is not going to be the Franzen of 2008 EVER again, Zetterberg is not going to be the Zetterberg of 2008 ever again, so these things must be addressed or this team will continue a downward spiral. Today was a perfect example, Holland chose Kindl's seniority over Smith's far better play...this is what I question and this is what gets me negged for no other reason than "Ooh, you said something bad about the Wings!" NEG!

Brendan Smith sent back to Grand Rapids

There are no roster limits, but this is a pure senority move typical of the Red Wings, so instead of letting Smith it in the press box Holland sent him down to keep him playing although Smith should be playing here above Kindl due to him be far better. In my opinion Jakub Kindl was the worst first round pick by Detroit since Kory Kocur.
