...uh, think again. Nashville is only 2 points behind them with a game in hand. I said this at the deadline that St. Louis was charging and so was Nashville. Sure I probably spewed a bit more garbage than that because I was mad at no deal made, but it's now reality, I fully believe that the Wings will limp into the playoffs with the #5 seed. Regarding the deadline, I know asking prices were high and there were a lot of teams in the mix, but they have only won 2 games since that day, sure injuries have hit, but the guys who the team relied upon so much to NOT make a deal have stunk up the ice. Outside of Zetterberg, Filppula, Helm, Abdelkader and lots of credit to Miller, this team has been downright awful. I do believe re-signing Bertuzzi was a mistake too. We will see what happens when Nick comes back, but something just isn't working and it's way too late to make that critical change that I think should have been addressed 3 weeks ago. 10 more games, the way they are playing right now, even when Nick comes back, I see 5-5 at best. It hurts to see this team play right now...it's time for the switch to be turned on...if it exists...

There are "certain" players who take most nights off. They score in bunches and are very VERY inconsistent. If this team gets eliminated in the first round. Anyone not named Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Smith, Howard, Helm, Abdelkader and Kronwall should be "available." Trade the entire team? No, but no serious offer will be unheard. Unfortunately the guys I listed will probably be the only ones asked about....

Come on really? One playoff loss to them in 20 years? Sure the Oates trade hurt at first, but it never got the Blues anywhere. If Oates would have stayed a Wing, things would have been different, sure, but things would have turned out different too! You probably don't make the trade for Carson, which doesn't bring you Coffey, which doesn't get you Shanahan. Who would you have rather had? Oates or Shanahan? If you make the playoffs that year, you don't draft Primeau, who also brought you Shanahan. Maybe Fedorov doesn't defect at the Goodwill games and he re-enter's the draft and gets drafted by someone else and there is never a Russian 5. You cannot mess with the space time continuum. Things happen for a reason. You can say that the Oates deal was one of the worst made, but in the end, it was one of the best things to happen to Detroit since 1983. The Blues can have Hull & Oates and all the goals and assists. I will take the back to back Cups in the 90's and then the two more in the 2000's. What does Oates have? Stats....period. What does St. Louis have? Nothing....are they ahead of the Wings? Sure, will they finish ahead, probably, but you don't need the #1 seed to win the Cup...the Wings have proven that, time and time again!

I am telling you, his sister is pretty sure he is coming here. The only thing that may attract him away from here is that he will get instant playing time in Tampa (which is the other place he is considering.) This has been discussed before but this is a great article giving even more reason's to believe he will sign here. This is my fear for next season. I fear that re-signing Quincey and adding Smith to the lineup will make Holland not want to persue Suter. Even if Stuart leaves. If Lidstrom retires, maybe he may throw an offer out there, but it will be probably be an offer that is lower than Pav's cap hit. Which means Suter will most likely not come here. I know the D is playing ok, but if they lose both Lids and Stuart and miss out on Suter....yikes. But, hey, maybe it won't be so bad. I hear they are really pursuing Dekeyser from WMU and considering his play in the NCAA tournament so far, he will get some serious offers. Plus looking at the Wings d-men in GRR, Dekeyser isn't that far fetched to possibly earning a 6th spot on this roster. You never know what Holland may do...I would hope he would go hard for someone if Lids and Stuart leave, but you just never know... Kronwall - White Quincey - Ericsson Smith - Dekeyser Kindl Don't know how that would work, but I can think of a lot worse defense's in the league.... All that being said, I cannot describe how much I hope Holland goes after Suter...

You get negged because people negg for no reason, then they hide...anyway fortunately there is no roster limit now so Smith can stay even when all are healthy, let's just hope he stays in the lineup. He is better than Ericsson or Kindl (come on E and Kindl slappies, start negging) so he should remain in the lineup throughout the season and playoffs...

You are right. I expect too much. I will wait to pass judgement on this team when it is 100% and then see what happens. I will wait to see Franzen The Great make his return in the playoffs before I spew more negativity about him, Hudler as well. I just don't like when I state my opinion and get negged for no reason or at least not debated why someone thinks I may be wrong. I could see if I said "Wings Suck" or didn't even try to put together a post, but I simply just said after the deadline that St. Louis and Nashiville were coming hard and I wouldn't be surprised if they both passed then Wings up. Of course I got laughed at and negged, but it is happening. Injuries or not, it is happening. I hope a healthy Wings team climbs back up, but Nashville and St. Louis don't seem to be slowing down. I would love for Smith to remain in the lineup, but that would require Ericsson to sit. Although E is not as good as he has shown to be in previous years, I don't know if Holland will allow Babcock to have $3M+ sitting in the press box as a healthy scratch. I hope Smith and Quincey make up the #5/6 slots, but I just don't see Ericsson not playing when healthy...that's too bad. edit: As a matter of fact if both Stuart and Lidstrom leave next year, this is the lineup I want to see: Suter-Kronwall White-Quincey Smith-Ericsson Kindl I can do without either or both of E and Kindl, but not too sure who would replace them.
