ok, walked away and came back to see it was 2-0....rewound the DVR and how the f*** was that not a penalty? Sure he fell but he stuck his stick out and tripped Quincey then the puck went right to his teammate....If this is gonna be one of these games! All I have to say is, top 6 BETTER show up tonight and I am calling out Franzen and Hudler! Our top two goal scorers!

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

I am realizing that if Holland had no interest in Downie, then he probably has no interest in Ott. I certainly hope this is not another deadline with nothing coming to Detroit, because if Quincey is all he gets, then it may be a long summer....I just have a sickening feeling....PLEASE I HOPE I AM WRONG!!! -

Ya, I mentioned this earlier saying now Hudler is gonna ask for at least $5M. I think Holland will just let him go over the summer. No one will want a pending UFA in trade, so he won't be traded at the deadline. I certainly hope and pray that Holland doesn't give him anything above $3.25M. -

Heck, if Minn is in a giving mood, I know someone they could give Clutterbuck to! -
it is kinda obvious.....When he shoots the puck at the net, he hits the goalie right in the logo on a consistent basis. (when he gets it on net that is)

http://tsn.ca/tradecentre/feature/?id=56793 ...according to this TSN article called Trade Bait, they list Steve Ott as a trade possibility. Make it happen Kenny! edit: Just saw that Dallas is currently in 8th place and it looks like it's gonna be a battle the rest of the way and they could very well wind up in 8th at the end. So I guess there is NO WAY that they trade Ott to their possible first round opponent....DAMN! -

Great, so this means Hudler is gonna ask for $5M+ again this summer....Holland will never pay him that much...me either. Hudler @ $3.25M sounds better... On topic...SHEESH! How did he rate $5M a year? Are these owners on crack? Unbelievable: http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=388774 ALSO... http://tsn.ca/tradecentre/story/?id=388764 Not sure if it had been mentioned.....Preds send Jerrod Smithson to Florida for a pick...6th round pick. -
Yep, and it somehow makes you "not a real fan" or if you don't like any and all players who ever wore the Wheel then "you should go root for (insert any other team)" Trust me, I know about this!

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

Just an observation, last night's game was a perfect indicator that the Red Wings NEED a top line scorer that shows up every night to play. I certain hope Holland addresses this problem by the deadline because these are the teams we are going to be facing in the playoffs....Vancouver, San Jose, St. Louis...even Chicago still gives us fits. Please Kenny....PLEASE! WE NEED A REAL CLUTCH SCORING WINGER! -
...a lot of folks are gonna flame you for this post, especially since it's you first post, BUT I give you a +1 because yesterday was the type of game that we needed Franzen to show up, and Hudler to show up amongst others...Bad call on the icing, but bear down and clear the net so Jimmy can see! Franzen did try to block the shot, but I do agree he kinda looked like a ballerina while doing so, maybe he was just in awe of Daniel....er or Henrik...or was it Daniel? Anyhow...Franzen first and foremost needed to show up last night and he didn't. And those Nuck fans that are gloating and saying how much better they are than the Wings...Gloat away, go ahead, the streak was gonna end sooner or later, not only did you have a blown icing call in your favor (in which game would've been over without it) you also had law of averages in your favor. You should be sad that it took a 6 on 5 for you guys to tie it and a shootout to win it. That there doesn't tell me that you are better than us, just that Burrows got the better of Howard this one time and you guys can score when you have more players on the ice. I really hope these two teams meet in the playoffs, not only is it great hockey (if our "CLUTCH" players decide to show up) but it will be fun to eliminate you guys. Oh and back to breaking the streak, thank you, now the Wings can go back to playing without having this thing in the back of their heads. I am glad it was Vancouver that ended the streak, better than losing to St. Louis or Chicago or worse yet, Pittsburgh. See ya in the playoffs! What time is it? 12 past Luongo....now that is a streak I would hope is more important to you to break, your playoff choking streak. Lovely! I guess Cindy Lee Crosby isn't the biggest diver in the league! I take back all the bad things I have said about him! Sorry Sid!

If there wasnt a bad icing call, game would have been over in regulation.....

As much as I hope and pray for both Parise and Suter, I am afraid you may be right. Perfect example being Wisniewski. He signed with Columbus for a way overpayment, not even regarding the chances of winning a Stanley Cup. Look where he is sitting right now....I had said when he signed that he would not finish his contract out in Columbus and I really believe it. Heck, if they are willing to get rid of Nash, then nobody is untouchable really. With more and more elite teams adopting the Red Wings model of running a franchise, players are going to have to start accepting less cash for the chance to win now or just follow the money around and forever be a "never-been." I just don't underdstand some players, but if to them it's all about money, then it's their own fault... Honestly, besides the obvious mathematical answer, what is the difference between $6.5M and $8.0M? You could be a Champion or never make the playoffs let alone win anything...but sure glad you got that extra $1.5M to play more golf with! Parise in Detroit for less makes him a multiple Champion, $8.0M+ in Carolina or Buffalo? Not..... Back on subject, I like the Quincey pick up, Migity Mac© has solidified the goalie position. If Holland isn't getting a sniper, then give me Ott or Morrow and tighten your seatbelts for the playoff grind! (I know Ott has a NTC, but they can always be waived to the right team.) -
Leave some room for.Parise.....please!
-
For those of you saying "its just one game" or "still first overall," you are right, cant win them all, but the worry is, they cant seem to win on the road. Sure there are folks here that are overreacting a bit, but even so, this team plays really bad on the road, and that is very concerning. Going back to the Montreal game, the Wings have only 2 wins on the road and those are both by shootout. While its not right to be calling for heads to roll, but considering that they play like an IHL team on the road and havent put together a good road game in a couple of months, the concern is actually a bit warranted.....

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)
LeftWinger replied to Tim.D's topic in General
Pulkkinen, Jurco, Sheahan, Jarnkrok, Nyqvist...we could lose Tatar and not look back, especially if it brought us a top winger in return... I understand your nightmare, but I think we'd be okay in the long run anyhow...even without Tatar. -

And this should end the debate and the thread.... I trust Holland. I hope he gets a forward, someone earlier mentioned Ott, WOW, would that be cool!!?!? Morrow is always on my wish list, but if Ott could be had, there goes the idea that we aren't tough....You listening Cherry? -

LeftWinger replied to Tim.D's topic in General
+1! Listen guys, Piche' was never gonna make it here, Holland usually trades away his 1st rounders at the draft anyhow for more low rounders. The draft is a crap shoot and he prefers to draft lower to let the draft picks simmer in their Junior clubs and GRR until they are nice and ripe and ready for the NHL. How often does Holland draft NHL ready players? Exactly... This is a good move. Quincey is better than Kindl. Throws his body around more than Ericsson. -

LeftWinger replied to Tim.D's topic in General
I may be in the minority here, but I think this is a nice deal. Kyle is a big upgrade over Kindl, he is much better (maybe not tougher) than Commodore, he will be a nice addition here. Welcome back Kyle! and for those who think a first was too much, not only is the first gonna be at least in the bottom 4, it may be #30 overall, just like everyone is saying, but consider this, when was the last time Holland even used his first? The first is so low every year he usually trades it away for another 2nd round pick. Which he has done at least the last two season's. This could mean Holland isn't done, he has said Smith will be coming up soon to get some playing time, maybe Kindl is on his way out, who know's. But as minor as this deal was, it is a little exciting. Quincey will make an impression, trust me. Where are all the folks that were complaining just last week about how we lost him to waivers a few years ago. They should be happy! Now please Holland, SNIPER, POWER PLAY SPECIALISTS, PLEASE!!!! THIS! -
19-3 BTW, you are only giving them 3 more road wins? Oh ye of little faith.....

Start Jimmy vs. Chicago AND Vancouver to get him back into game shape, then rotate every other until the playoffs. Or maybe give Jimmy 2 and Joey 1 every three. Joey has proven he can play against the elite teams, so its no matter who the Wings start him and Jimmy against. I just say, give Jimmy the next two to get going and then do a rotation. I feel for Ty, but if he goes unclaimed he will get plenty of playing time in GRR and at the same salary, so he won't be up here but he will be making his NHL salary. GRR is in desperate need of a goalie every since Joey has been gone, so Conklin would be a welcome sight. If he does get claimed then it will be a team that needs him to play right now, so he will get his playing time there as well. I would love for him to stay in the organization and even re-sign to play in GRR next season, because he will get huge minutes and when he plays alot, he plays great! Ty shouldn't be mad (hopefully) at the Wings brass, he knew he wasn't playing well enough to keep the Wings rolling in first place, sure it may of had to do with very limited starts, but that is just how it worked out and you cannot change it. I hope he clears waivers and starts every game in GRR and becomes "ready" to be our third string and be called upon when and if needed.

LeftWinger replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
I still believe that with the way the team has been playing, our goalie issues are over, our defense is fine, all we need is someone to turn our power play around. Teemu Selanne. If Holland can get Selanne for a cheap price (if he is available) that would more than turn our power play around and in turn, turn our road record around. But if nothing is available at the right price, Holland will probably stay put and address whatever issues in the off season. -
Sharks May overcome your streak. Otherwise it would be a great game.
LeftWinger replied to SharksOvercame's topic in General
I think the OP actually meant, when he said Sharks may overcome your streak, that The Sharks may Come Over and enjoy your streak... That's the only sense I can make out of it...
