So that being said, if they don't win it now, it won't happen for a long time from now because Holland is not gonna pay Parise or Suter so they will get worse anyhow. "Laugh it up Fuzzball" Nashville is only 6 point behind the Wings and coming strong. Wings cannot win on the road and their last 4-5 home games have been yawners that they barely won and lost the last two of...They may not be 6th, but they will be 3rd in the central.

Ya, I am not discounting the fact that they won 23 in a row or that they are flirting with 1st overall, but, if it weren't for that win streak (which had games within it they had no business winning) this team would be out of the playoffs. The road woes, the power(less)play and the inconsistent forwards are gonna be the death of this team and just because of a magical season 4 years ago, they will get a pass. Holland missed an opportunity today to send his team a message. Play or you are not wanted here. He will spout off about the draft and the UFA day, when he does nothing again, slappies will talk about the past 20 years and how he is the best in the business because a scout (not Holland himself) found Datsyuk playing in Siberia or somewhere. If they don't win the Cup, I hope Lids hangs em up and Stuart leaves, because he aint getting Suter then we will see what is broken or not.

No, because I know Holland always trades his 1st round pick plus it would be a later pick, but yes it is considering Quincey is all he added. Quincey is not Stuart. Quincey is just barely an improvement above Kindl/Ericsson. There were players out there that were MORE WORTH overpaying for. Quincey is depth. Problem is, Holland will not spend his money on new blood come July either. He will keep his team and give them all raises...Parise and Suter will not be here in July. I would bet the house on it.

What's not broke? The power play? The road record? Inconsitent and lack of interest players? It is broke. If it wasn't for the win streak at home and if they played more like the average team at home, this team would be out of the playoffs right now. The ONLY constants on this team is Datsyuk, Helm, Abby, Lids and Howard. The rest? Broke...

20 years mean nothing for this year. Besides you cannot count the years where he had unlimited funds to spend on trade day and UFA day. In this day and age if you want to edge, you must overpay a little to get it. By the end of the year Wings will be in third in the Central and about 6th in the playoffs. You guys who have faith in Franzen are in for a rude playoff. He is done, over, wasted. He got his life-long contract and is mailing it in for the duration. He had one great year and now he gets a pass for being s***ty. Yes, I am mad. Holland could have overspent today to shake his team up, to show he means business, either you come and give 150% or you are gone, adios! Oh wait, he did overpay, for Quincey and when he re-signs him, Hudler and Lidstrom over the summer, he will over pay even more! All while losing Stuart.

Holland failed today. He said over the summer that he wasn't going after big UFA's because he wanted to keep the cap for the trade deadline. Everyone on here said, no biggie that he didn't sign nobody now he can address our issues at the trade deadline. No here is the deadline, he failed to address our issues. Now Holland is saying as well as you guys, he will adress our issues over the summer, which is what we heard last year at this time when no trades were made and then what happened over the summer? BTW, this is off topic, but yesterday my two youngest son's played at the Joe and yours truley (who is one of their coaches) got to coach from the Red Wings bench! Wow! What a perspective you have from there! I was working the door for the kids at the tunnel to the locker room! I tried to upload some pics, but they always end up small on here, not quite sure how to show them full size! Anyway, it was great! The ice is actually a lot smaller than what it looks like from up in the stands and on TV...

Besides Vrbata is now leading 10 as well, so his inconstant play is allowing players to catch him in all statistics...soon Hudler will pass him on the goal-scoring. For the "most clutch player in the NHL" who has a "Serious Contract" 47 points in 62 games is horrendous! according to Capgeek.com, he has no such thing...

Honestly, I would like to see Miller/Abby/Mursak(Holmstrom)for a fourth line and reunite Cleary/Helm/Conner for the third line. But Those two would be nice to see here as well! ChrisDetroit, don't let those 4th line stats get in the way...and yes, Franzen sucks now, he will be invisible this playoff, guarantee. I said one magical season because everyone who try's to defend him always refers to the 2008 playoff series.

I think you all know my opinion of Franzen so I will refrain from just bad-mouthing him. I will just say I really appreciate this thread and agree with the OP to the Nth degree! edit: on a side note, the same can be said about Zetterberg. I do believe wholeheartedly that because of his back, he is on a downswing and will continue to get worse. I predict both of these guys retire because of health issues before their contracts are up...

I never said fire Holland or Babcock.... ...and yes, our 4th line is the worst in league. Along with some other teams lines, but it really does suck. Holmstrom (I love him to death) but he needs to sit. He is useless on the 4th line, he obviously isn't the power play specialist he once was which is proven by the lack of power play production. Emmerton looks like he will never be more than what he is, average. Mursak was touted by most of you guys to be on the second line...he has shown nothing. I am not putting blame on them for losing the last three or the woeful road record, that is on the top scorers on this team to step up and be clutch when needed. I give Hudler credit for his attempt last night, but there were others that failed as NHL players. Zetterberg has had a bad back since he signed his life long contract, now we a stuck with that until he retires and his back is only going to get worse. Trade him? Of course not, but if he is gonna be injured every year, then Holland is going to have to find someone who is going to fill his shoes on the scoring end, because he just is not producing. Franzen is lazy and he sucks (sorry Lang.) For those of you that are thinking Franzen is going to turn it on come playoffs, I laugh. He won't, but everyone will give him a pass because of one magical playoff in 2008.

Mickey said it best last night on Red Wings Live. "You cannot win a Hockey game in 20 minutes" I didn't watch the third myself due to my utter disgust over the first two, but again, it seems another instance of too little too late. The Wings have consistently played that way on the road this year and yesterday it showed up at home. I certainly hope Holland addresses this before tomorrow 3pm. Plus, Babcock should jockey the lines around and demote some people until they step it up CONSISTENTLY every night. Hudler with two goals and Franzen with nothing. I hate Hudler but damn he is becoming more reliable than Franzen. Babcock needs to mix the lines up to get Abby and Miller back on the 4th. Not that they haven't played well enough to be with Helm, but our 4th line is the worst in the league. Holmer is just washed up, Emmerton is below average and Mursak has shown me nothing. Not that I expected a superstar out of him, but with all the hype he gets here and even by the Wings, I expected much more. Put him with Abby and Miller, maybe he'll shine more. They need to call Conner back up, when he was playing with Helm, that was the best third line in the NHL. And Holland definitely needs to add a pure scorer who can help this powerplay and maybe push Franzen for that top line spot and help motivate his lazy, dumb ass...

What a waste of an hour and a half...time to let the wife take the TV over. Holland better be making calls right now...This team is in dire trouble...
