2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

I agree, and I am all for signing Suter and Parise over the summer, but damn I wish we could get someone to help this team on the road and their power play...I just don't see our team getting past San Jose or Vancouver if they stay pat. I hope I am wrong, but they aren't gonna win ALL their home games, they need to get that road and power play addressed.... -
TRUE! I do believe they have pretty good D depth, but Kubina is a power play specialist that would have been an upgrade over Hudler on the point, that is the only reason I was a bit excited. But I do believe the roster limits are removed after the trade deadline and if so, I hope Smith comes up an gets some playing time so we can see if he will be ready next year or not... I really wish Holland could get Selanne. I know the Ducks are trying their hardest to make the playoffs and he is a huge part of their chances, so he may not even be available. But the Wings need a player to turn that power play around which in turn should make that road record start to look better!

I agree, I am all for..... J/K But ya, I really didn't think we NEEDED a d-man, but I really think we need Selanne for the spring...

I think cprice and the other 5000 Blues fans may argue and disagree with your statement... ....again...I think cprice and the other 5000 Blues fans may argue and disagree with your statement...

Well nevermind Kubina http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=388202 To Philly for a 2nd and a 4th... -
...and honestly, do we really miss Quincey? Is he tearing up the NHL with his awesomeness? Here is a good way to look at this, do we NEED anyone? Not really, BUT what part of the Wings game has suffered all season and needs the most improvement? The power play. Kubina is a power play specialist that would improve our power play tremendously. I don't know too much about him, except what I read on here, which indicates most users here don't like him, so that helps me form my opinion, but like I have been told many times before when I get mad about trades and non-trades, I am not, or none of us are Ken Holland and a no closer to the NHL than being on this awesome forum. We have a ton of users that are very very hockey smart but if Holland thinks Kubina will help, odds are he will. So, if you can nitpick one area where the Wings need improvement, it's the power play. Kubina will help that and so would Selanne. What type of player is Selanne? He is a sniper who excels on the power play. We aren't gonna land Nash or Perry or Ryan or Iginla or Doan, etc.... so if we are just gonna add tweaks that won't cost too much more than Kindl/prospects/picks or even another bottom 6 player, then give me Kubina and Selanne to rent for the playoffs and let's get going! I really don't think we will miss Kindl, if he indeed is involved in any trade. We haven't missed Quincey since he got waived and we won't miss Kindl. We don't need to improve that much, add Kubina and Selanne and our power play just got a ton better. Improve the power play and watch the road wins start to add up....

So let me try to understand what you are saying.... Hudler is a superior hockey player to Nash. So if Nash is offered to Detroit for something reasonable that Holland had no problem giving up, he should pass on it because he has Hudler. The same Hudler that is superior to Nash. You know we are talking about Rick Nash right? Not Nash Bridges...
-
Because other teams son't like to do the Wings any favors. They are all jealous and would screw the Wings in a lopsided trade demand and then accept less from another team for the same player(s). That is why there is NO WAY Detroit will get Nash. Columbus will demand Zetterberg or Franzen in return (if not both) and then accept decent prospects and draft picks from Toronto or San Jose et al.

Nah, I think that Hal Gill has a lot of playoff experience and Nashville liked his veteran leadership and got him. Gill isn't the best defenseman out there, but it does help their blueline. They are gunning for us.

Uh....ya, a bit of a misinterpret, just because folks are younger than me, doesn't mean they are second citizen fans. You cannot help when you were born. No offense, but there are some fans that didn't think twice about the Wings in the 80's and then come here and tell us life-long fans that we don't know anything...doesn't matter really, you probably misinterpreted Crymson's tone as well, if you have read Crymson for some time, he usually is being a smart ass when he says things. But we love Crymson anyway and wouldn't have Crymson change a bit!

When it comes to success and dynasty's no doubt Detroit takes the win, BUT New York is the mecca of everything entertainment, so, even though they haven't accomplished jack since 1994, they would still be given the title of America's Team.....by the media only. The fans know differently. As a matter of fact if the media would vote, Detroit would more than likely be third behind NY and Chicago.
-
Cant have Nash hauting them? So what if the agreed upon realignment is scrapped and Detroit ends up moving East in a different realignment? Price is still gonna be too high, but dont count Detroit out.....
-
20? 20? What do you take me for one of those bandwagon Wings fan that only caught the bus once they started winning? My first game was in 1979 at The Joe when the re-hung Gordies number in the rafters. Been a fan since i was 9 and have stuck with them through the lean, years as well as the last 20. That is why i get so passionate sometimes. But honestly, ya, they could still win friday, but its gonna be hard as Nashville will be gunning for our spot. Without Z its gonna be even harder.....
-
God i hope not.....
-
There goes #22. So much for putting the record out of reach..... Bump Tatar....Conner needs to be here.....
-
Well, Nash would be nice, but if Detroit didn't make his list then oh well! Let's just get Selanne and go for the Cup, then re-sign Lids, sign Suter and Parise in July. Maybe Wisniewski's attitude rubbed off on Nash, maybe that is why he is underachieving this year....
-
Ok, then count each time we go to phoenix as a home game then..... Wah wah Boston, guess all the Cup envy has you grasping for anything, eh?
-
Good on ya! But dudes with tattoos on their legs? I just don't get it...
-
I have a feeling Columbus would not take Franzen because of his age and length of his contract. Maybe because of his playoff performances, but Columbus doesn't worry too much about playoffs now do they? Plus I like to imagine if Holland got Nash, it would be nice to see Nash AND Franzen here. But like I mentioned above, I say tweak the roster for the playoffs, score Parise and Suter come July.
