He said enough is enough.... barring trade to acquire cap, I think we're done. I guess we'll see all of Pearson, Smith, Veleno and Hirose in Detroit.

2-way contract has nothing to do with being able to be sent down or not. Murphy has no waiver exemptions, he will be exposed if he gets sent down. 2-way is for salary only. 1-way contract means your salary is the same whether you are in the NHL or AHL. 2-way means your salary is lower in the AHL.

Who is Ryan Murphy?

All these TSN guys saying Detroit and Buffalo are going to struggle don't realize that they are talking about: 2022 Vezina Winner - Alex Nedjelkovic 2022 Calder/Norris Winner - Mo Seider 2022 Ted Lindsay Winner - Jakub Vrana 2022 Hart/Selke/Byng/Messier Trophy Winner - Dylan Larkin 2022 Masterson Award Winner - Marc Staal 2022 Jack Adams Winner - Jeff Blashill 2022 Gregory Award Winner - Steve Yzerman ..so ya, here we come baby! What do these teams plan to do being so far over the cap? IMO, if you don't have the cap space TODAY, you cannot sign the player!
-
I just relate him with Yzerman. I would not care if we got another LHD like....speaking of every thread....acquiring Nic Hauge in a Cap dump trade with Vegas! Sorry, couldn't resist! Again most importantly I'd like to see a LHD come in and be in our top 4.
-
Not obssessed, but if he is similar to a lot of other LHD, maybe he'll choose here because of the Yzerman history. But ya, most importantly I love to see just a LHD, but not just a 7th spot filler, we have them already. I want DD and Staal to be the 6th/7th guys, I'd love to see a D come in and be in our top 4.
-
Teams that may have to dump some cap...unless we are going to play the Tampa Bay Cap Circumvention Game again this season. NHL needs to end that "cheating." Just make the cap be in affect throughout the playoffs. That will end it. Plus it probably would've prevented Tampa from winning back to back.

Honestly though, there hasn't been any players signed anywhere that I would've wanted on Detroit (other than Glenny) so that is good. Koekkoek and P. Suter would be nice. I am also waiting for a big trade....
-
I don't see Yzerman doing too much today. I'm hoping for a LHD and Pius Suter. Looks like teams just don't like getting fleeced by Steve, they're all trading with each other and leaving us out. I certainly hope Helm splits. But with Glenny going away, he might get a contract....ugh....
-
I'm a little disappointed in Glenny. Looks like Carolina replaced their G

Well s***...

Happy UFA Day! I'm really hoping for Pius Suter and some cap acquisition.

You knew someone would. He's too good to judge him based on politics. I can guarantee with the money these NHL players make, they are more conservative than liberal anyhow. But he is a great player, I wish Detroit had shown interest.
-
This is a player I really hope Yzerman focuses on. He even fits the rebuild age!
-
I mentioned that awhile ago when someone, somewhere said that Yzerman could sign Getzlaf for a year to mentor the yoots. That would be hilarious!

1,000,000% guarantee when/if Ovi hits 895, all of Canada and the Gretzky slappies will be saying he didn't break the record because of Wayne's 46 G's in the WHA. Even though they all won't give Howe his G credit for his WHA goals to put him back on top. The rules don't apply when talking about Canada's golden boy. You either count them for all players or none. But Canada will never admit that a player is/was better then Wayne Gretzky. For the record, IF we're talking career Professional (NHL/WHA) goals: Howe : 975 Gretzky : 940 ...all that being said, Ovi would have to score 33 goals per season for the next 5 years in order to reach 895.

Holtby on waivers for buyout...what is happening in this NHL world today? I can see him being hotly pursued by Vegas on the cheap! (or maybe back to Washington league min.)
-
That leaves them $4M-ish in cap and no goalie's signed. I mean I know samsonov will be re-signed, but he might take $3M to $3.5M of that. I am just waiting for Yzerman to strike. He has to have the blockbuster ready to go! BTW: ...this RFA signing hurts. I would've liked to see all RFA's stay under $5M so our guys don't get too cash happy.
-
I mean, IF we acquired Werenski, and then did the whole Cap Dump thing for Tampa with Tyler Johnson PLUS, with the players we've acquired going back to Vrana, I don't think we'd have to worry about a 1st being protected. With the G upgrade, D upgrade and the FWD upgrade, I do believe this team makes the playoffs this year. Even with giving away Bertuzzi.
-
You could always do what Ottawa did in the Karlsson deal as well. 2022 1st round protected to a 2023 1st. That way if we were a lottery team in 2022, they'd get the 2023 no matter what. @marcaractac Also, ya, if they'd take Bertuzzi instead of Zadina, I'm cool with that too!
-
Yes, but with the new rules we cannot win a top 3 two years in a row. So if we win #1 OA next year, we get Wright and the best CBJ can get in 23 is 4th. IF we get anything less than #1 OA in 22, then the 23 becomes lottery protected and we could possibly bet a top 10 in 22 and win the the #1 OA in 23...or not win either of them with our luck. I love that all these RFA's are siging for less than $5M AAV, that should keep Bertuzzi and Vrana under $5M for us as well.
