"Selanne" and "Moen" are just example names of the type of deal I can see Holland making as opposed to making the "Nash" type deal. It's still funny how people are so serious as to neg you for trying to make sense of all this. You get negged when you say make the huge deal, you get negged when you say make a couple minor deals. That is why I say people just neg folks for no reason except that someone mentions trade their favorite player...

ya considering the offer was a joke as it was in response to the "offer" from New York to Columbus being too low. It was commented that NY's offer was just that, an offer, not a deal. So I said, ya anyone can make an "offer." So that was my "offer" not my "deal." Some of you guys are so serious.

Ok, again, Nash would be totally awesome in a Wings sweater, but not if it's gonna affect their chemistry. Sure they need that sniper to help alleviate their road woes plus their power(less) play, but getting Nash would not only have us lose a couple of high end prospects, but a couple of our roster players AND draft picks... Nash would be great, but I think Holland would go for Selanne and Moen for rentals that wouldn't cost the farm or the chemistry for the playoffs, and then throw the $7.8M at Parise for "for life" and Suter "for life" in July. Of course that would mean if Lidstrom comes back it would have to be around $5M unless the CBA goes off wihtout a hitch and the cap actually goes up, but if Lids comes back at $6.2M again...but this isn't about the cap or the offseason. Nash would be awesome but I think it would cost too much...but stranger things have happened. Rest assured, if Holland thinks the deal is right, Rick Nash will be in the Winged Wheel come Feb. 27th.

Nash would be great, but at what cost? Selanne would also be a great rental. Moen would solidify the bottom 6 with more grit and a bit of an edge. In all honesty, its gonna be a wait and see this year. Yes Holland can add up to $17M this trade deadline, but does he need it? He could try to acquire Nash or Parise but they would be very expensive to obtain. But WOW! If this team could land Rick Nash...Holy Moly!

It might not be about outbidding another team. Selanne gets to say where he wants to go(if he is going anywhere) and he has already expressed that he a Fippula have good chemstry together (although dodging the trade question) so you would think if Selanne were to give the Ducks a short list of teams that Detroit would be on there, if not the only one of the "Top Contenders" he may list. I'd like to see Selanne and Morrow, but that may be too expensive I believe. Selanne and Moen? Could be interesting...

Ya, a lot of folks didn't. I wouldn't have minded him here, but not at his salary. I do agree with you though, it seems I had a ton of supporters over the summer in my dislike for the little Piddler, but I am proud to say, my opinion has never faltered! I am glad he is doing better, but only because it makes his trade value higher. BUT nobody wants him except Holland, so we will see him here again, for even more wasted cap space. But that is just my opinion. At least he is playing better...

Yes, but I recall him saying the Hawks asked him to give them a list of 5 teams he would like to play for and they would try to accommodate him. Lucky for us, Detroit was on that list, despite his words previous to that date. Blue, I don't understand all the hate you get for making threads that include lines combo's. Isn't that an important part of hokcey, lines? I like reading them. I don't always agree with your combo's but that is the point right? With that being said, I am not so sure it would cost as much as Hudler and Kindl to acquire Selanne for a spring rental. Wings_Toledo is on the right track with Hudler always be offered up (I am guilty as charged) but really, unless some team REALLY wants Hudler badly, nobody that are sellers are going to ask for a pending UFA in return. BUT, they mayb take a lessor player and a higher level prospect for him, or maybe a couple of prospects. I am not sure. I would make one change to your lines though, I would swap Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Filppula - Datsyuk - Selanne Bertuzzi - Zetterberg - Franzen I would also like to see what wings_fanatic suggested with re-teaming Zetterberg and Datsyuk, but I would keep Franzen on their wing, because if Franzen was on a line with Fil and Selanne they would get their assess pounded on a nightly basis with no one to protect them. Having Bertuzzi out there would at least make other teams look behind their heads before taking liberties. Of course that would leave Dats and Z open for abuse then, because Franzen isn't gonna drop anyone short of punching someone after the whistle or game expires...

Funny how the commentators say "Watch the cross-check by Thornton and then Toews gives him a jab, Toews started that!" So even though you saw the cross-check, and even pointed it out, Toews still started it? Why because he just got cross-checked in the back and got pissed? So he is just supposed to take the cross-check and skate away? Why does it seem that Ken and Mickey are the only guys who aren't so Home Bias that it makes me puke?

I am glad you get it, but according to you and most people here, he is the most clutch player in the league with his 9 GWG's, and Zetterberg is not regarded as that. So, until Franzen decides to show up EVERY game, EVERY shift and EVERY minute and prove that he was worth keeping over a REAL Sniper in Marian Hossa, then yes, I will despise him and call for his head every game he doesn't do something to impact the game. Not to mention score more consistently. He scores a game, then takes 6 games off, then scores and takes 5 games off... I agree, Zetterberg should get some slack too, but Franzen is and was kept around to be our sniper, our scorer, they signed him instead of Hossa. Granted, Hossa has his playoffs issues, but Franzen hasn't lit it up in a few years either. Great that he has 21 goals, that just makes him that much more trade-able in my book. I am just waiting to see him be clutch, that's all I want.
