Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

Emmerton/Hudler/Andersson for Morrow... Conklin/Picks for Nabokov... Sign Parise and Suter in the off season...

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

I am not doing it again....I said that usually he says we need something and then gets nothing, so now that he says we don't need much, it must mean we are getting something! Yay! I also said, I don't think this team as it stands can compete for the Cup, and I think that Holland would be wrong if he thinks it can. Can they prove me wrong? I hope so, but I am not bashing Holland or the Wings...(except Franzen and Hudler every chance I get.)

    Your All-Favorites Red Wing Team?

In all honesty, I think pound for pound Marty Lapointe was a tougher center than Primeau. When I think of Primeau I just always think of this: He just never had a chance here with Yzerman and Fedorov as the #1 and #2 centers, same as Jimmy Carson, just couldn't get the icetime... edit: And before you tell me that Lapointe was a RW, he was drafted as a center and played that position in Adirondack and early in his tenure with Detroit. He excelled at a few forward postions.

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

So this means something will happen! Every year he says, we'd like to get bigger and get another top 6 forward and then nothing happens. Here he is saying he likes where the team is and nothing is in the works! Awesome! Can you say Blockbuster!!!! In all honesty, if Holland feels this team is playoff ready and can really compete for the Cup, then we are in trouble. This team needs another tough bruising forward AND a pure sniper AND a reliable back up goalie. The power-play is like 1 for 40, Conklin just doesn't have it, and this team will not get by San Jose with a bunch of soft forwards...I certainly hope "Patrick Eaves coming back from injury is our trade deadline acquisition" is not going to be reported come 3pm Feb. 27.

    Another crybaby

This guy has never even watched Hudler play! Huder? Visious? Oh that hurts, stop I am laughing so hard! I do like the name Worm for Jiri though! I think if a worm had a face, it would be Jiri's! (quick someone photoshop it!) Jiri "The Worm" Hudler ©

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

I agree, and I too believe you have to give to get. I like the prospects you listed, but I guess I am just a bit bias towards Sheahan considering I try to catch as many CCHA games as I can and am thoroughly impressed with him thus far this season. But ya, if it meant getting a Parise or Iginla or Perry, I would trade him, I'd hate to, but I would be ok eventually, especially if I get to see that Cup raised a few more times! BTW, I hope you are wrong about Holland this month, after last night, it is SO evident that this teams needs a pure sniper AND a reliable back-up goalie...

    Your All-Favorites Red Wing Team?

Also, you list Primeau on there, he was traded before you were 10, do you honestly remember seeing him play, or are you factoring in his days in Philly? He really only had one great season here, and I barely remember that and I was 24 when he had his 73 points. I am not questioning if he is one of your favorites or shouldn't be on your list, just curious as to how much you actually remember of him.

    Your All-Favorites Red Wing Team?

Uh.....ya. Hossa was our last true sniper since Hull. Besides the topic is all time favorite team, not all time winningest or tenured. Zetterberg wouldn't even make my second all time favorite team. I like him, and he is good, but in my history of hockey, I have other favorites than him. If this was an all time best players I have seen list, then sure, he would be listed...

    Your All-Favorites Red Wing Team?

Sorry, I thought the topic said "All Time FAVORITE Team" not all time best...although Doug Brown was FAR better than McCarty anyhow, so he would make the list over him to begin with...

    Our Power play

You hit the nail buddy, the PowerPlay needs a sniper. Period.

at the CBC broadcast saying Kronwall got 4 minutes for roughing and that he elbowed Hemsky in the head...were they watching the same game?

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

The Bulin Wall would be nice, but that is an expensive back-up. But it sure would solidify the goal-tending corps for the playoffs...at what price though? Conklin plus what?

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

My trade-able players from the big club are: Hudler Franzen Ericsson Kindl Cleary Mursak Conklin Emmerton Players I would hate to see go: Abdelkader Miller Eaves Stuart Commodore Filppula The rest just won't ever get traded or makes no sense to trade them... In the prospects I don't know too much about most the guys, excpet I would never get rid of Sheahan or Smith. I do like Nyquist as well. Petr Mrazek and Marek Tvrdon also get my stamp of approval from the bits I have seen and heard about them. I guess the others that I have heard great things about and would hate to see go would be: Jarnkrok, Pulkkinen, Jurco and I hear nice things about Lashoff too, but have never seen him play. I wish I could see some Griffins games once in a bit to see these guys a bit more....

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

I am just curious as to your take on Sheahan. Have you seen him play at Notre Dame? He is an absolute beast. I am not knocking you for listing him, hell I am ready to trade Franzen, we all have our reason's, but I was just curious to your analysis of him that lets you trade him with no problem...

2/4 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Oilers 5 (SO)

Ya, they must know something that we don't see, which is why I fully believe that there will be a new back-up here at the deadline. Conklin has shown no confidence and MacDonald, well, there is something wrong that we don't know. I hope that Holland acquires Nabokov, but who knows who else may come up available. Last night proved two things at least: 1. We need a REAL sniper that can score when needed and does so on a consistent basis. B. We need a legit, reliable Back-Up goalie that can take over were Jimmy leaves off. I wanna say that they played pretty tough last night, so I won't say we need a bruising defenseman, but too many Ericsson giveaways for my liking...Kronwall's hit was great, need at least one of those a game, be more Vladdy-esque.

Vancouver Sun article on why no one hates the Wings

And Detroit should have at least 3 more Cups (maybe 4) if you go by a statement like "We feel we should have won, we had the talent and some great teams." 1995, 1996 & 2009 are the years where the Red Wings SHOULD have also won a Cup and 2007 they were the better team of the final 4 teams left. Problem with the Hull years and their great teams, did they ever get to a SCF? or a WCF? I think not...doesn't meant the teams weren't good, but Hull wouldn't have left if he felt that the Blues management were making the right moves to bring them a Cup. So in essence, he felt that he would never win a Cup in St. Louis. And you are the one who said "Except Hossa" when I said this is where players come to win. So I said the same thing about Hull that he had to leave St. Louis to win. Obviously Detroit doesn't always win the Cup, but when given a list of 5 teams to a player where he would play and have his best chance to win a Cup, guarantee Detroit is 100% always on that list. St. Louis might get 2 votes. That was my point saying this is where players win Cups. Most other teams players go for a paycheck. Wisniewksi being a glaring example of that.... BTW, the only reason Hossa isn't here is Hudler handcuffed Holland. Holland chose to sign Franzen (mistake in my mind) and Hossa signed in Chicago. (for what he wanted here, but Holland couldn't make that commitment with Hudler opting out of his Russian contract to come back to the tune of $2.8M. One of the reason's I can't stand Hudler.) I still wish Holland wold have traded Hudler's rights at 2009's draft to move up a bit. But oh well. BTW how much more would you hate the Wings if they had won 8 Cups between 1995 and 2008?
