    No suspension for Zetterberg

Good on ya, Shanny! cue the cprice ***** fest in 3...2...1...
  2. Well, if the rumor is true that Teemu would waive his clause to come to Detroit (which I think is a slap in the face of Chicago, St. Louis and Vancouver ) then Holland better acquire him! Sure he would probably be a rental, but Hemskey may be a rental as well. I have said this before, all the talk of acquiring that elite player that might be here for the next 10 years doesn't have to be done in February. Although if an unresistable deal presents itself, then of course make it, but I think if Holland could get one or two to make this team better now, then do it now and wait until July 1st to get your Parise's or Suter's or whomever else. I would like to see Selanne plus another come here. Sleanne shouldn't be too expensive, neither should Hemsky, but that doesn't mean they won't be. Considering the topic, I think, unless you trade Hudler away, it is going to severley affect the bottom six because Hudler has proven he is not that type of player. He cannot grind with our current bottom 6. I cannot say he is a sniper or an elite, legit top 6 player, but that is where he fits here. It's kinda like Holmstrom, he really doesn't fit on that 4th line, but he isn't top 6 anymore either. Although, I think that his numbers would improve if he played with Datsyuk again. So if acquiring a top 6 without trading Hudler means Hudler slips down to the 3rd line, then yes it would greatly affect the bottom 6 and not in a good way. When Eaves returns it is a must that he stay with Helm/Cleary and have Miller move to the 4th. Miller has played well on the 3rd and deserves to stay there, but he makes the 4th line better with Abdelkader. So the bottom 6 must stay like this: Cleary - Helm - Eaves Miller - Abby - Holmstrom (rotating with the 13th FWD) If you put Hudler on either of these lines it will upset the chemistry, not because Hudler has played bad, but just as I have stated, he does not fit in with these type players. So if Holland acquires Selanne, hopefully it involves Hudler going the other way because of the chemistry thing, not because I dislike him. Unless Babcock just chooses to sit Hudler most nights as the 13th fwd. But hey, Holmstrom could rotate with Hudler and they could trade Emmerton or Mursak for Selanne. The powerplay can't get any worse with Holmstrom out of the lineup from time to time...He is a powerplay specialist, but right now, nobody is playing too special on the powerplay... BTW, you left Holmstrom out of your lineup. He may sit some, but he won't be a healthy scratch the rest of the season and playoffs. He will get most the playing time of all the #12 spot players on this team. He will be in there before Mursak and Emmerton for most of the games once Eaves returns. I think the order of choice by Babcock will be Holmstrom then Emmerton then Mursak.

SI: Sidney Crosby to visit spine specialist in Calif.

^^^^^THIS!!!!!!!! I think for the most part, we are sympathetic to his health issues even though we may hate him as a player. But GD, who freaking cares what he is doing outside of hockey!?!?! We don't care that he is getting his spine looked at! We don't care that he gets a head ache when he ties his shoes! He is not the first player, nor the last, to have his career ended because of a concussion! Do we hear about every other player's doctor's appointments, who have concussions, no, so I don't care to hear about Cindy's either! Sure he has won a lot in his lifetime, good for him, if he would have played as long as Gretzky, maybe we'd have a new record holder in most categories, but he won't. He won't even play as long as Lindros did. Enough about Cindy Lee Crosby and his every little bit of progress and regress, please! It's time for the NHL to market the players that are actually playing!!!! (There's a concept!) He is done, it's too bad, yes, but it's the truth, move on, please! If he goes through all of this and makes a come back, then lets talk about what he had to do to get back. Lets talk about all the appointments he had to make in order to make himself healthy enough to become a star again. Until he is 100% healthy and comes back and starts playing hockey again, lets leave it alone, lets not have to hear about every baby step he is taking. If he makes a come back will it make for a good autobiography? Yes, and I am sure it will be a great read to hear about all the therapy and x-rays and appointments and medical advances, but until then I don't want to hear it. I think everyone would like to see him lead a healthy life. Most folks would like to see him play in the NHL again. But in the same token, 99% of the fans outside of Pittsburgh don't want to hear about every OB/GYN appointment he has to make! Up until Yzerman's retirement ceremony, I had no idea Vladdy was walking on his own with a walker! I though he was still getting around in a wheel chair, why? Because nobody talked about all he rehab appointments and every little crap he took that gave him a headache! The NHL went on, the Detroit Red Wings went on, then all of a sudden Vladdy was walking to center ice! Good Luck Cindy Lee, I hope you get your health together! You and your family are set for life, don't risk your life by rushing back to the NHL. See you in a couple years or maybe never, but get well, none the less! (there is my human side, now back to my NHL side) Hurry back so Kronner can Kronwall you into the 30th row! Then I won't have to see you dive and flop all of the ice anymore!

    No suspension for Zetterberg

No suspension.... ...they were both slowing and stopping, The guy would've have fallen whether Zetterberg was there or not. The play on Mursak's injury in the pre-season was worse than this and did anyone get suspended? If Shanahan suspends Zetterberg, he should be erased from the Detroit Red Wings history books. His goals and points should be taken away and his name should be removed from the Stanley Cup...it's the ref that should be suspended for making the call. I watched it over and over and over, he just places his hand on his back, there is no push, no shove, no intent, not even a tickle...

Ya, I know, but I just hate to put any other name there and everytime I mention Franzen I get like 5 or 6 neggs. I guess it would be nice to dream that they would only cost some prospects but then you would still have to clear roster space somehow and I don't see them waiving Hudler or Conklin....well maybe Conklin. But ya, I hear ya and I do agree...

Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium Finalized

Basically cprice, besides your city, maybe some of your state and a few displaced former St. Louis residents, nobody in the world of hockey really cares about the Blues. Unfortunately for you and your city, the same cannot be said about the Red Wings. And like Doc said, that comes from consistency, history and star players making this franchise the best and most popular (behind Montreal) franchise in the NHL and perhaps the entire hockey world. We know you hate us cause we are evil (Damn that Yzerman, he is just so evil!) and even though you have probably never been to our city, have nothing but thoughts of death and slums and poverty when you think of Detroit. But you cannot fight was is fact. The Red Wings are what sells tickets in the NHL and when someone is looking to make money, they put on a Wings jersey, not a blues jersey. Nothing personal, just business... Ya, I agree, can we change our name to Blues?

You don't like posting here, or reading on a...uh, last time I checked, A Detroit Red Wings Forum, then well, I don't need to show you where the door is. You can go to the only place in cyberworld bitching that the Blues aren't in the WC...I am sure you know the address... So, first you ***** about all the Wings fans on a Wings forum (go figure) and now you wanna come in a bash our city? You aren't playing with a full deck of cards are you? Yep, sure is! It will also be nice when we are in the SCF again, before the Blues. Keep holding on to your dream that this is you best Blues team ever. You'll be looking for a new starting goalie next season...mark those words down....BUDDY. Oh, and hey look, I too can neg for no reason...

    trade deadline discussion

Make the trade for Hemsky (Hudler + in return) Make the trade for Nabokov (Conklin + in return) Roll with that team through the playoffs, win or lose the Cup, changes are happening especially if Lids retires and Stuart leaves. I got a feeling Lidstrom will be back again to help showcase his team playing in Ann Arbor plus he may be defending another Norris trophy. Holmstrom should hang it up, Bertuzzi can come or go, either way. You will be needing a backup after this season because Nabokov, no doubt will get some good offers to be a starter. No worries, because I have a feeling Tomas Vokoun will be looking for a nice home next year and the prospect of being number 2 on this team far outweighs the starting jobs available, so that will be that. Come July, you sign Suter and you sign Parise. Which gives you a 2012 playoff roster of: Franzen-Datsyuk-Hemsky Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Filppula Cleary-Helm-Eaves Holmstrom-Abdelkader-Miller/Mursak/Emmerton (if Mursak or Emmerton aren't traded) Lidstrom-White Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Commodore Kindl Howard Nabokov And a 2012-13 roster of: Franzen-Datsyuk-Parise Filppula-Zetterberg-Hemsky Cleary-Helm-Eaves Miller-Abdelkader-Mursak/Emmerton (again barring a trade of either of those two) Lidstrom-Suter Kronwall-White Ericsson-Smith Kindl Howard Vokoun ...of course this is just an example, who knows what Holland will really do next month then in July...I know, I know, all this talk is all fun and games until someone shoots an eye out.

    Trade Deadline Approaches

Moen off the block may be correct, but I think Holland will acquire that solid third line grinder to play with Cleary and Helm. I like Miller and the more he plays the better, but I think he plays better with Abdelkader, or at least makes that 4th line better. Eaves-Abdelkader-Holmstrom/Miller is a great 4th line. I get knocked all the time, but something tells me Penner just may be coming to town. I know, I know, everyone hopes not, but I just feel that a change of scenery just may help this kid and he would look pretty impressive out there with Helm/Cleary. But, it's just an odd feeling. I wouldn't mind Kovalchuk's long contract here as long as he and Datsyuk and re-kindle some magic! At least he wouldn't be a rental and you would have possibly the best top line in the league with Franzen/Datsyuk/Kovachuk for a long long time! (assuming Datsyuk re-signs, and I think I am assuming correctly that he will...)

    Trade Deadline Approaches

I am sure there are more of us, but they just don't want to come to terms with it yet...that's ok, back before 2008 when I was a huge hater (and still am) of Hudler, I was in the minority, and in the last off season, I couldn't keep track of the number of Hudler-Haters we had here. The Franzen-Freaks will see him for what he is worth...and that is alot! (on the trade block)

    Trade Deadline Approaches

That isn't the new way of saying cyber-sex is it? I hope not! Anyway, all this talk about big names. As much as I'd like to see a number 1 sniper here for the deadline, it wold just rape this team too much before the playoffs. I hope it happens come July 1st though! Anyway, take all the big names out of the mix, I could see three guys coming here on deadline day. Alex Hemsky Travis Moen Evgeni Nabokov. Skip all the other trade talk and sign Parise and Suter July 1st. Perry/Ryan/Iginla/Doan, sure they would be great here, but at what cost? As much as I cannot stand Franzen, he won't be traded. You get Hemsky, Moen, Parise, Suter to replace Holmstrom, Bertuzzi, Hudler & Stuart. If Lidstrom retires, then we are in even more hurt, but one step at a time. If you get Suter, it stops the bleeding for a bit. with these four gentlemen, next season's lines look a mile above what we have now, and those aren't too bad as we speak... I'd love to make some up, but who do you think I am, blueadams?

    Transactions, Signings, and Minor Trades

That Jenks kid doesn't sound like too bad of a prospect. Too bad he can't get a shot with an organization that actually gives a s***. First Florida, now Carolina? Geesh, whats next Phoenix? Columbus? The Island? Oh well, maybe one day he will make it to a club that cares...Good luck kid! I always have a soft spot for local talent!

Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium Finalized

You would think that even if the season ticket holders get first crack, there will still be over 80,000 AT LEAST available to us...I sure would love to go, but will be living on the west side of Michigan by then and it will be even further to drive....but maybe! I wonder if I could wear a Abdelkader MSU jersey there? You would think that even if they do get to buy first, they could only buy the same amount of tickets that they buy now. So, how many tickets are season tickets at each game? 15, 16, 17,000? if even that? I have a feeling that there will be plenty of tickets to be bought, as long as the scalpers and agency's aren't allowed to get their hands on them first!

    subban being shopped

Funny thing is, as much as you tried to be funny here, you are right! There is only one thing worse than a soft European blueliner, that is a soft N/A blueliner....seriously.

    subban being shopped

Cleary's NTC expires 30 days prior to Feb. 27th 2012. That being said, he is too valuable with Helm right now. So no to Cleary. I think Montreal would be dumb to accept the other trade, although I would love to have Moen here, I wouldn't want to lose Eaves and Emmerton for him. Subban is a splash in the pan, I wouldn't trade Hudler for him. There are more important things to address with this team than blue line scoring.

Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium Finalized

False....maybe do they research before you post something this dumb. Don't count your chickens buddy. Your team has been WAY better than this and didn't even get a sniff of the SCF, due mostly by the Detroit Red Wings, which explains your utter hatred for everything Red & White. Which is blatantly obvious by everything you post. And BTW, if the Blues had a decent enough following outside of St. Louis, there wouldn't be talks of Western Conference treason if the Wings headed East. They are the money maker in the West...that is why they are in the Classic...again. Odds are, they will be there a third time before St. Louis gets in once. Something tells me that if it were the Blues in it twice in four years, we wouldn't be reading your rants. Or if they have actually won anything....ever. Ya, if they are playing in Detroit/Boston/New York/Chicago etc... These blues fans make me laugh, they have so much jealousy and hatred for anything Detroit that everything they try to say objectively comes off smelling like rotten tomatoes or sour grapes. It's pretty nauseating.

Top teams are looking to deal

Well, since we aren't getting anybody of top level without ditching Franzen, I look for our "scoring" winger to be Ales Hemsky and the "abrasive" forward to be Travis Moen. They will cost a lot less than Franzen. Possibly just prospects or draft picks. The issue is the roster space. We already have 14 forwards, so who would go to make room? Not gonna name names, but it would have to be someone to Edmonton who has "potential" to score 70+ points and Montreal may take a French-Canadian born prospect. I would still love to see a blockbuster bringing someone like Perry or Ryan here, but that would cost us Franzen, which I would welcome, but not many of you guys would as proven by how many negs folks get around here just by mentioning trading Franzen. EDIT: I still have that weird feeling that Penner is coming our way. But I also wouldn't mind Kovalchuk (contract sucks though) to play along side Datsyuk. The magic these two could have together may almost be worth that long cotract. At least he wouldn't be a rental...

    Next Red Wings Property?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me6hDOX2Fu0 also, my buddy is dating Dan's sister and told me that she said that the Wings are frontrunners and are close to a deal. Also the Lightning is a high possibility with Yzerman being on of his favorite players as a kid... ...sorry if this was already discussed.

Top teams are looking to deal

Ya, because teams are just gonna give us their top players for our prospects or draft picks or better yet, just for the hell of it! Oh ya, come July 1st, I forgot, ALL ufa's are lining up to come play in Detroit for discounts. It won't cost us anything to acquire the best players in the league! Dude, if you are happy with the roster right now, just say so, there is no need to throw smart ass comments around. You could've just said "I think we have a great team and we don't need anything! Go Wings!" But you'd rather look and sound like an ass. +1 for you! That's the problem..I know. Unfortunately nobody is really gonna take on that hunk of junk contract. The cap hit is nice, but the length is asinine. Filppula is way more important to this team than Franzen I just hope he doesn't get sacrificed. I guess we will see. I do hope that if we stand pat, so do the rest of the upper teams. If Chicago/San Jose/Vancouver all get better by making bold moves, we are in deep trouble. I cannot imagine if Chicago picked up Perry or Ryan or Iginla....ugh. This might get ugly...

Brad Stuart to the West Coast?

I think if his heart is set on going to his home state, then Holland MUST attempt to get something in return. I understand your guy's assesment of his pending UFA status kind of handcuffing Holland, BUT what if ALL THREE California teams want his services? It's not like he is chopped liver and he could be a huge help to any of them. So it's not like they are all gonna lowball Holland in and miss on a chance to attain his services. BUT if we are dealing away one of our top 4 defenders, with really nobody to replace him right now (Smith, Kindl or Commie are not top 4 defenders) we damn well be getting someone back that we can put in his place. This is why I cannot see Holland trading him at the deadline unless the deal is just too good to pass up. He be better off trading his rights in June. I'd personally chose Anaheim at the deadline if that is when he will be traded, 1. We won't have to worry about facing them in the playoffs and 2. Since they are looking to sell, they could outbid the other two playoff bound teams who would rather be buyers than sellers and upsetting the chemistry on their team. With that being said, I really wish Brad would stay, but do understand (personally) spending time away from your family for your career. What ever happens, Brad will be remember as one the best defensemen we have had in Detroit and he will always be a Stanley Cup Champion as a Detroit Red Wing. Godspeed Brad Stuart!
