You never cease to amaze me with your "view" on hits and players. Can maybe for once you can just get over the fact that your team loses or your player commits something dirty without trying to drag a Wings player through the coals? If you watch the two videos, Abdelkader has nowhere to go and even if he saw a flash of blue coming towards him, it was at the last nanosecond and he maybe just tensed up. You cannot tell any of us that this was not a suspension worthy, dirty play. Not even mentioning that Abby already had a man on him so Cole had no business even trying to check him. Even that play along the boards gets called 99% of the time if something like that happens even without a hit to the head. Datsyuk's hit sure did end up near the head, but if Jackass wouldn't have pulled a Cindy Lee Crysby and flopped his head back like he was shot with a canon, maybe the refs would've taken a serious look at the play. Jackass is known for embellishment and cheap shots of his own and got no sympathy. PLUS it was not a blindside hit, Jackass knew he was coming and he should've maybe used Pronger Physics and hit Datsyuk instead. Even though, according to you, it still would've have been Yzerman's err...I mean Datyuks fault. What else is funny, is all of the crosschecks and runs that Backes does that don't get called, I don't see you talking about how those are penalty's and should be called. Of course you aren't. Hitchcock is tired of Shanny's videos? He doesn't want to watch it because he has seen the hit and knows it was suspension worthy so why even listen to an explanation? Hitchcock isn't gonna come out and say, "ya I agree it deserves a suspension and Cole is an idiot." I am sure he called Cole a few choice words in private. If he disagreed with the call or the suspension, then he would've said something to that effect, not just he is tired of watching the video. So what's next on your agenda? You come in here trash talking Jimmy and touting Elliot as the best goalie to ever wear the musical note only to see him give up 6 goals in 2 games and lose to Goalie A both times. You then come in and say if Cole's hit is illegal then so is Datsyuk's even though they are entirely two different types of plays with two different intentions and results. There is no way to even compare the two, unless you are saying Abdelkader dove? With you I wouldn't doubt it. If Cole would've injured his shoulder on the play, I am sure you would have spun up another story on how Abdelkader cheapshotted Cole with his head... ...I hope you never go away cprice because you are hilarious to read!

It's actually all stupid. Someone said earlier, sticks and stones etc... He does not need a suspension, since he used a racial slur and got caught, he will now and forever be labeled as a racist. For the players that are just like him, they wont care, but for the player (and teammates) that aren't, they will disassociate themselves from him and will alienate him from certain things they do together because they will not not want people to think that they accept him. He pretty much punished himself, he will always be remembered for this....and that is the sad part. It's gonna affect his current position with Florida and it's gonna affect his ability to sign contracts elsewhere. He dug his own grave.

Am I the only one who though that was a retarded commercial? Sure it's nice to see Lidstrom in a non-local commercial and Perry wasn't that douchey in it either. But the content is absolutely stupid. I have nothing against Honda, but they could have come up with a scenario WAY better than this. I get what they were trying to do, and yes it's nice to see a commercial that involves the NHL that doesn't have the poster child in it, but this fails on all attempts. The Jiri Fischer - Chris Pronger one was much better back in the day... regarding Osgood and Draper, Ozzie is much better than Drapes in that commercial, but neither would win an oscar
-
...certain things are off limits? So this wouldn't fly? ...anyhow this incident is not very good for his image. Although as in todays world, I am sure racial slurs are still used in the NHL and other leagues, they just aren't all heard or disciplined....

Yes, last night he solidified his status as MVP of this team thus far. Looks like Goalie A has shown Goalie B how things are done on a legit Stanley Cup contending team.....cprice?

Pretty accurate description. Because of the knockdown you may have give him a loss, BUT the point is, Commodore did something that this team NEEDS, stood up for himself and his teammates. He was a huge net-front presence, he threw his body around as much as he could and yes, him being out there with Ericsson has made Ericsson a bit more physical. I seen E throwing his body around more than he has all year. THIS is what I meant by pleading with Babcock to give Commodore a legit shot. I hope he stays in the lineup for he most part, and no offense to Kindl, but I hope Ericsson keeps playing this way and even more. I am beginning to conclude that this may make Kindl expendable come deadline. Also, all you guys who were ragging on Miller, saying he is just a useless commodity, he doesn't bring much of anything to the game, well, even his toughest critics can attest that he has been playing awesome since Conner went out and he was moved up to the third line. Even Abdelkader has thrived with more ice time. I would venture to say with Miller, Helm, Abby, Eaves, Conner, Cleary and throw in Holmstrom along with whichever rookie is playing, we have one of the hardest working and best 3rd and 4th lines in the NHL, no matter which combo you throw out there. My only concern is who goes back down to GRR when Mursak and Eaves get healthy. No problem for Andersson or Nyquist clearing. But either Conner or Emmerton will have to go back down at that point and right now I'd hate to lose EITHER of them to waivers. I am glad that both Franzen and Hudler scored last night, but I am still tired of their inconsistency and would not miss either of them. But that is just my opinion,I do like when Franzen plays like the superstar he is supposed to be, but he is far from elite status. IMO he, Hudler and Kindl can all be offered around at the deadline, but I do believe Franzen is here to stay.
-
why? They both had 21 points the last 2 playoff's and Hossa is a much bigger threat than Franzen, faster, stronger and quicker shot. The last two and a half season's is just proof who the Wings should have kept.
-
Hey, but they have Franzen, it's only been 10 games since our designated "sniper" has scored. I would be surprised if he doesn't go at least 19 games without a goal.
-
No matter what, I will always despise Franzen and Hudler and will never get over the fact that they kept Franzen over Hossa.
-
Hmmmmm....I think we had another modest, humble and non-egotistical player like that once.....just can't quite remember his name.....hmmmmmm....for some reason I just keep seeing the #19....who is he again...oh well.
-
I am all for a Detroit/Boston SCF...Let's get it on!
-
...do you mean offensively? Because the rest of your entire post describes what Commodore brings to this team over Kindl. The Wings have given up TONS of odd-man rushes thus far, it's hard to be at fault when you are in the press box. I think that is something that is a team problem and really does need to be addressed.
-
Without a doubt. Jimmy Howard thus far. If he can keep this pace up (probably won't though) he will eclipse the single season win record held by Brodeur at 48 wins. I think right now that Jimmy is on pace to win around 58 games....not bad for Goalie A.
-
I like that Commie is getting his shot, but why Kindl? is he hurt? I thought Kindl was playing a ton better than Ericsson...er, of course my 4 year old plays better than Ericsson...

Interested to see how many blues fans (cprice?) will be calling Pav's hit on Jackass illegal and suspension worthy. Afterall, Steve Yzerman did purposely hurt Pronger, so why not Datsyuk's illegal shoulder to the head of Jackass? Physics anyone?
-
Ya, I cannot understand why good players have to present themselves as and whine and cry like a baby, or run around taking cheapshots and liberties on players and tarnish what could be their own greatness. Arnott, Jackman, Backes, these guys are great players, but they have to be idiots on the ice. Just like Pronger and Thornton. If they would stop the cheapshots and just play hockey and play legally without running around and then crying when someone gives them some medicine, they would be elite. cprice?
-
Bet it is Kronner, Pavel, Howard....if not White in there somewhere. cprice?
-
Guess Backes shouldn't have been so worried about running Zetterberg.... Kenny just answered my question, Franzen 1 goal in 9 games...unacceptable. He needs to become consistant, until then he is NOT and elite player.
-
I am calling out Franzen and Hudler. When is the last time they scored? It's time. Not when nobody is scoring. Franzen needs to step up and show he is the Elite scorer everyone (but me) thinks he is.

30 years eh? So the name Roman Turek means nothing to you then? I would think with your love for regular season stats with no Cups, you would love Turek to death!

Jimmy Howard - "I’m just sick and tired of getting run over.

Eddie Belfour has a house in Saginaw I believe, lets call him in to teach Jimmy some "moves." -
You were excited! So excited I barely understand what the frick you are saying! Please, I know internet chat has it's own words, but please, use them sparingly. Or at least not in your entire post. I know spelling and grammar aren't always the best here and most folks look the other way, but man this was brutal! But at least you enjoyed yourself! Go Wings! I like it that Howard is getting pissed, would be great to see a rebirth of Eddie Belfour in todays NHL! Expect to see Howard develop some stick-work soon. "Come near my crease, feel the pain..."
-
Here is why he is how he is... ..ok, it's fine to admire you hometown hero, and hell, even root for him. But to grow up in the Detroit hockey market and claim to be an Avalanche fan...no there is where the problem is. ...buckeye, need I say more? He also was tutored while earning his high school diploma while playing with the US National Team Development Program...can you say pampered *****? So there are a few reason's why he feels that he should not get hit like that...pansy.

...and that is the problem. They don't and they won't. Ericsson, Kindl, Kronwall, Stuart, White. None of these guys could clear the net if they were paid to! Oh wait...anyhow, Kronwall and Stuart have great open ice hits, good offensive upside, but they are poor at clearing players from the front of the net. Ericsson and Kindl are even worse at it. You cannot expect your #1 & #2 guys to do it, so they need to acquire a couple of players that WILL. I would LOVE to see what Commodore can or cannot do for about 10 games, hell, even though I am not sold on him, bring Smith up for a 5-10 game stint. If they aren't what this team is starving for, then acquire two or three defenders that are. I am fine with 3-4 of the type we have, but having all 6 players trying to be scorer's from the blue line and not making players pay the price in front of the net and for sure not making them pay if the take liberties, it is gonna hurt this team in the long haul... It's nice having the highest scoring defense, but I'd rather have the number one scoring offense and the hardest defense to play against. But maybe that is just me... -
Well, I don't see Vokoun being the #1 starter in Washington to this date, they are split pretty even, so it's like he is in the 1A 1B system anyway. I know he would not be happy here if he was getting Conklin-type starts, but I got feeling, if Washington does again, what Washington normally does in the playoffs, we could very well be looking at Vokoun in a Wings jersey next season as or 1B goalie. And that would be a welcome sight. (no offense to Conklin)
