Doesn't matter, bottom line is Crysby gives the NHL even LESS respect than they get compared to the rest of the sports. The fact that they are trying to eliminate plays like this by suspension's and then to not suspend a player for doing it makes it obvious that he has special rules set for himself. The play itself, I really have no issue with because if you've ever played hockey, these things happen and I can imagine in the NHL it's on a more competitive and greater scale, BUT suspend the player NO MATTER WHO IT IS. If Patrick Kane does it, if Tomas Holmstrom does it, if Pavel Datsyuk does it, if Matt Cooke does it. And for Bylsma to actually defend the non suspension just goes to show how yellow he is. These special rules are what dummy's this league down. 2009, Malkin instigates a fight in game 2, MANDATORY suspension for game 3, but wait, Bettman cannot have that, he even said the the NHL cannot have their best players sitting out on the grand stage, so the instigator gets thrown out. Malkin goes on to factor in on all the goals pittsburgh scored in game 3, a game where if he were suspended, Detroit would've been up 3 games to none for sure. It's these Bettman rules that drive me (and most of the hockey nation) crazy and it makes me hate the NHL more and more. The NHL IS much better without the likes of Cindy in it. You want to play hard and compete and play a little dirty? Fine, but don't *****, whine and dive all over the place when you get a Louisville to your mouth, but don't pretend to be a golden boy and nobody can touch you and then do stupid s*** like this and still complain about open ice hits and hits to the head. NHL, if you want to be seen as a safer league and have the best players playing, then you have to be consistent and just. I just cannot wait for the first guy to hit this guy that one last time. The NHL will be a better place.

wOw, how many years removed from the Adams Trophy?
-
This is why he will never have the respect. He is just lke Mario in that regard, waa waa if someone touches him, but it's just playing hard hockey if he does it to someone else...and just like Mario, nothing will be said from the NHL....Seems to me, NHL was better without him. At least everything was fair and there was no special treatment for players who seem to have special rules...

The funny part isn't that they call Kessel the 2nd best player in the NHL, it's the part they call Cindy the best player... Just one more hit....please!
-
Time to sit Zetterberg...he has to be hurt...he did not just all of a sudden become hot garbage.

I'd like that! Hudler or Cleary, that way you could keep the other to package a deal for Parise. If you add Semin and Parise, how do we acquire Weber or Suter? Not likely, nor probable that the Wings pick up all these guys, but could you imagine this team with Semin, Parise and one of Weber/Suter? If the OP's rumor/scenario brings us Semin and Shultz for Cleary/Kindl, I wouldn't mind seeing Ericsson packaged for one of the Preds. Stranger things have happened...
-
No worries, they have Crosby. He will bring them back from the brink. All the NHL has to do is market him the right way and they will be golden.
-
So why the hell is the Winter Classic now on Jan. 2nd? The whole idea of the game was to be on New Years DAY, not the day after!!! Once again, Bettman bows down to the networks and OTHER sports. Spineless Jellyfish!
-
The game was pretty good while he wasn't around...
-
Well then he is right about running a good business then, why show the pengwhines play someone they may lose to? Show them playing the worst teams in the league so they wax them and then the whole country loves them even more! (and by whole country I mean the greater s***sburgh area)
-
Hudler for Semin straight up... I know Washington won't do it, but I can dream...
-
Geez, now he is starting to get Gretzky points, while sitting on the bench. Where's Tonya Harding when you need her?
-
Here, for you: http://shop.nhl.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=11757677 don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out...
-
I agree! The game was good without him, and it will be after he is gone. Whether he finishes his career early or late, I will always hate him and wish bad things on him. Hey Cindy, voodoo voodoo hoodoo!
-
don't even joke about something like that, I almost ***** slapped my monitor! LOL! Someone actually caring that Crysby stays in the NHL, that's a hoot!
-
Ugh, nhl.vom(it) has a section for Cindy's shift by shift report...really? This just in, Cindy takes first post-concussion piss... You would think no other player has EVER returned from a concussion....Geez I wish someone would take one for the rest of us and just blindside that little *****.
-
Too bad Detroit can hardly ever stop their top line... Getzlaf - Perry - Ryan own da Wings...ownsa, ownsa....it's true.
-
please excuse me while I celebrate. :puke: I hope the next hit knocks him back out...I cannot stand the prissy bastard.

Crymson, I cannot believe you are enteraining this guy for so long... ...anyway, he says 2.5 years removed from the Stanley Cup is a LONG, LONG Time? Geez, what do you want buddy, Stanley Cups every year? Everyone would love that, but it just doesn't happen. I can think of 25 other teams that wish they were 2.5 years from being in a SCF. Even the last 4 teams to be there probably wish they had 3 Cup appearances in 10 years. I understand, the past has nothing to do with now, but you act like this team has done nothing and is nowhere near winning than the Maple Leafs have been... We all want to win, we all have our opinions on what it takes to do so, but to insinuate that the Wings are nothing because they are only 2.5 years from their last Cup appearance is stupid. If they make the playoffs and still not win the Cup this year, it will be no biggie, they'll win another Cup soon enough, and the more years in between only shows how hard it is to win and makes you appreciate the Championship more. The way you talk, it makes me think you don't appreciate 20 years of playoffs appearances, most President Cups of ANY team, most WCF, SCF appearances AND most Stanley Cups in those same 20 years. Dude, I thought the rest of us were picky...

I agree totally, except for Zetterberg. I would trade Franzen and Kronwall in a heartbeat, those two as a package would get you a high end top 6 or a top 2 defenseman.

Babcock: "Do we want to be a good team or not?"
LeftWinger replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
I think that the "find answers in the lockeroom" and "<player> coming back from injury is our deadline acquisition..." days are over. That is not working, and hasn't worked for a long time, if it ever did. The time now is for change. Who and where from? Your guess is as good as mine! It's time for Holland to put up and show the NHL that he IS the best GM in the business... -
I can dig it, but I would think any trade involving the Wings getting Parise or Hemsky wold no doubt include one of or both Franzen and Hudler...just my opinion.
-
injuries have to be the issue with those two...could they have both become average over the off season? What are the odds? I believe it's injuries and I wish to all wishes that they'd go on LTIR, because I'd rather have them healthy and producing than stinking up the ice at 50%...it has to be injuries...it just has to be....

I do hear you on the Semin problems, but maybe a change of scenery will help... and to say Franzen currently leads the Wings in scoring with 9 goals, ya, he does, but 5 of those goals came in 2 games. I'd rather have a goal every other game, more consistency. Semin is having a rough season too, so I would probably not like that deal either. We need a Doan type player and a Parise type player, if we could get them somehow then I believe this team would improve. Like I said in another post, I am all for dealing now, beause this type of play is totally unacceptable at the moment and honestly I don't see it changing with the group we have. I know we all have said lets wait until the deadline, but losing 8 out of 12 could put us out of the playoffs by then. I don't know what or who to trade, but I certainly hope, as we type here, Ken Holland is on the phone finding out who may be available... Heck, I am still up for somehow acquiring Malhotra and Moen to change the makeup of this team. IF we could add a player or two or three like Doan, Parise, Malhotra and/or Moen, heck even try to re-get Hossa somehow (although I think Chicago is fairly happy with him and would NOT trade him to us anyway) this team would turn it around pretty quick. This team just doesn't have it anymore. You have two stars (who are struggling) and 4-5 above average role players up front, and pretty much 1 all star on D and an outstanding goalie. That's pretty much 14 players that are expendable in my book. I like White, so add him to the D and that is it. Dastyuk - Zetterberg - Abby - Helm - Eaves - Filppula - Lidstrom - White - Howard. I like Holmstrom and for his age he has ok numbers, but with the powerplay struggling, has he lost his effectiveness? If we have a chance to acquire the player(s) we need, unfortunately Kronwall, Franzen and Hudler and Ericsson are the top of the list to be traded, along with prospects and picks. Personally, I am ready for a shake up. This kind of play is not good... Would I rather see our guys turn it around? Of course! I hope and pray that they do, but it just doesn't look likely...
