Geez, what do you want buddy, Stanley Cups every year? Everyone would love that, but it just doesn't happen. I can think of 25 other teams that wish they were 2.5 years from being in a SCF. Even the last 4 teams to be there probably wish they had 3 Cup appearances in 10 years. I understand, the past has nothing to do with now, but you act like this team has done nothing and is nowhere near winning than the Maple Leafs have been... We all want to win, we all have our opinions on what it takes to do so, but to insinuate that the Wings are nothing because they are only 2.5 years from their last Cup appearance is stupid. If they make the playoffs and still not win the Cup this year, it will be no biggie, they'll win another Cup soon enough, and the more years in between only shows how hard it is to win and makes you appreciate the Championship more. The way you talk, it makes me think you don't appreciate 20 years of playoffs appearances, most President Cups of ANY team, most WCF, SCF appearances AND most Stanley Cups in those same 20 years. Dude, I thought the rest of us were picky...

I agree totally, except for Zetterberg. I would trade Franzen and Kronwall in a heartbeat, those two as a package would get you a high end top 6 or a top 2 defenseman.

I think that the "find answers in the lockeroom" and "<player> coming back from injury is our deadline acquisition..." days are over. That is not working, and hasn't worked for a long time, if it ever did. The time now is for change. Who and where from? Your guess is as good as mine! It's time for Holland to put up and show the NHL that he IS the best GM in the business...

I can dig it, but I would think any trade involving the Wings getting Parise or Hemsky wold no doubt include one of or both Franzen and Hudler...just my opinion.

injuries have to be the issue with those two...could they have both become average over the off season? What are the odds? I believe it's injuries and I wish to all wishes that they'd go on LTIR, because I'd rather have them healthy and producing than stinking up the ice at 50%...it has to be injuries...it just has to be....

I do hear you on the Semin problems, but maybe a change of scenery will help... and to say Franzen currently leads the Wings in scoring with 9 goals, ya, he does, but 5 of those goals came in 2 games. I'd rather have a goal every other game, more consistency. Semin is having a rough season too, so I would probably not like that deal either. We need a Doan type player and a Parise type player, if we could get them somehow then I believe this team would improve. Like I said in another post, I am all for dealing now, beause this type of play is totally unacceptable at the moment and honestly I don't see it changing with the group we have. I know we all have said lets wait until the deadline, but losing 8 out of 12 could put us out of the playoffs by then. I don't know what or who to trade, but I certainly hope, as we type here, Ken Holland is on the phone finding out who may be available... Heck, I am still up for somehow acquiring Malhotra and Moen to change the makeup of this team. IF we could add a player or two or three like Doan, Parise, Malhotra and/or Moen, heck even try to re-get Hossa somehow (although I think Chicago is fairly happy with him and would NOT trade him to us anyway) this team would turn it around pretty quick. This team just doesn't have it anymore. You have two stars (who are struggling) and 4-5 above average role players up front, and pretty much 1 all star on D and an outstanding goalie. That's pretty much 14 players that are expendable in my book. I like White, so add him to the D and that is it. Dastyuk - Zetterberg - Abby - Helm - Eaves - Filppula - Lidstrom - White - Howard. I like Holmstrom and for his age he has ok numbers, but with the powerplay struggling, has he lost his effectiveness? If we have a chance to acquire the player(s) we need, unfortunately Kronwall, Franzen and Hudler and Ericsson are the top of the list to be traded, along with prospects and picks. Personally, I am ready for a shake up. This kind of play is not good... Would I rather see our guys turn it around? Of course! I hope and pray that they do, but it just doesn't look likely...

I agree with you about Filppula, but unfortunately nobody is gonna take our underachieving garbage just because of their potential. If not Filppula, then it's gonna be Helm or Abby. For me the ONLY trade-able guys I would not trade is Filppula, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Helm, Abby and Howard. Obviously Lidstrom isn't going anywhere and neither is Holmstrom. Even guys with NTC/NMC would be shopped, if they don't want to waive them clause, then they will sit... But, if we could package something together for a HUGE HUGE HUGE impact player, I'd be all for it. If you have to dump Franzen/Hudler/Kronwall along with prespects, then do it. Everyone is right, this team is stale, content, comfortable. I said it before, this team is what it is and pretty much you have already seen the best this "core" can be. Even Helm and Abby are what they are, they're good, but they aren't gonna all of a sudden turn into 50 goal scorer's. I hope things change, but how long until they do? Kenny, this is a business, you have to so what's best for the franchise. Start the phones ringing, you should be able to get a very nice player(s) for a few good packages... Franzen, Hudler, Kronwall, Ericsson, Cleary, Bertuzzi, Brunnstrom...prospects, picks. Let's get some impact players here, not part timers. Interesting thing about Franzen, we all remember his 5 goal outburst last season, right after that somebody (I forget who) started calling him the new Fedorov, well, it seems ever since that comparison...he has stunk up the ice. Trade him. If you can.

okay, so, 8 loses out of the last 12 games. This is becoming a bit concerning. While I hold on to who we have on this team, because I know they have done better, but if this trend does not change, it really may be time to have a shake up. I don't know what though. Nobody wants our utility/garbage players, and with Franzen's stupid contract, who is gonna take him? I seriously think this team is doomed this year, unless it's injuries and if that is the case, LTIR and let them heal. PLEASE! I do not want to see them miss the playoffs. If you have to shop some of our top 6,then so be it. I am a fan of this franchise, not any individual player. Commodore is the type of D-Man this team is screaming for, but Babcock won't take his head out of his ass enough to play him. Same reason he stopped playing Modano last season. I would rather see Smith play next to Commodore. I just don't think Babcock is over his hatred for Commodore, so his signing was pretty much pointless. Too bad too, because he hasn't looked bad at all, and the defense looks a ton meaner with him, Smith and Ericsson on it. All due respect to Kindl, but for me, I like Commodore better. But as long as Babcock is coach, he will never be able to show what he can do...same reason why Fedorov could never come back before he left for Russia...I like Babs, but its sad that his ego gets in the way a lot. I have always liked Sheahan, and am not surprised by his recent play, but you know who I am very disappointed in? Landon Ferraro. I thought for sure he was something a lot more than what he has been so far. Maybe he will be a slow developer, but he is on the way down the Prospects list. Doesn't look good...

...so what do you propose to do with them? You can't waive them, they cannot retire because if they did, their salary would still count against the cap, you know you cannot trade them, ya, sit them, but then you are wasting their cap hit in the press box, plus your roster is full, so unless they go on LTIR you cannot sit them and play a youngster... so, like them or not, they are here for the reminder of their contract, and then, they will most likely be gone...

With all the Cups he won here, I think Shanny forgot he played for the Blues too... NOBODY who is old enough forgot that he played for the Blues, but how about maybe the younger fans who were just born when Shanny played there? For the most part, all they remember is him playing in Detroit and NYR... Think a minute...it was nearly 20 years ago he last played there...sheesh...

Uh...ya, of course you aren't going to see it as dirty....and it was Yzerman's fault that Pronger injured his knee too. Maybe there was no intent to injure, but it was a very dirty hit...ANY hit from behind is dirty, especially when the guy is 10 feet away from the boards and he not only gets hit, but shoved as well. Very dirty and naughty....he deserved at least 5 games.

Honestly, I think most people here are afraid to say Zetterberg and Datsyuk are playing like crap. It's almost like it's sac-religious to do so. Hell either they are horrible or both hurt, and if they are both hurt, then sit them down and let them heal Mike! I have no issue saying they are playing crappy, but I hope it is due to injury and not aging. I am all for a couple of players sitting down for a bit, some to heal and some to get the freaking point through their heads! Which ones are hurt, we'll probably never know for sure, but if needed put Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Cleary on IR, sit the hell out of Franzen and Hudler... ...a lot of folks complaining about Commodore, but what do you expect when he gets the crap minutes of the game. Say what they want, but Babcock still hates Commodore and is NOT playing him on purpose. How many minutes did he play tonight? Sure, he is not a top 2 defensman, but f*** man, Backes was running everyone out there without regard, put Commodore on him and beat the s*** out of him, at least put him out there so he can try to stick up for his teammates. I am seriously questioning Babcock at this moment. Especially in a game like this, Backes needed to be floored for his antics. And maybe, just maybe that would've lit a bit of a fire...

Not at all, except for Hudler and Kindl on the point...Reward those three for sure, but cripple them with Hudler and Kindl... Heck I am all for playing Helm's line in the top spot...
