10/25 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blue Jackets 4

I am not saying Commodore will save the team, honestly, they don't need to be saved, but just to get him in and change the look of the D, 10 goals in two games is a lot. And, no, those two aren't game breakers, I just didn't know who was scratched...

Something was put in the Detroit teams kool-aid I think....Lions go 5-0 then lose two in a row, Wings 5-0 and now not playing too well and may lose two in a row... I hope the Wings pick it up and soon...

    Jackets sign Wisniewski: 6-years $33-million ($5.5m/yr)

Ya, too bad not many contenders will be too interested in a upper 30's Wiz....Nice choice Wiz, but thanks, because so far I like Ian White MUCH better...

    Season-Long Lines Thread

Ya, no.. ..We are talking about someone who HAS waiver exemption and one who DOESN'T have it. When the Wings lost Quincey, BOTH he AND Meech had NO waiver expemtions, so they BOTH would've had to pass through waivers to play in Grand Rapids. Nyquist HAS waiver exemption so he can come up and go down WITHOUT passing through waivers. With a FULL healthy lineup, Nyquist will be sent down 100% of the time, until he no longer has waiver exemptions.

10/22 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Capitals 7

I honestly don't think there is much to discuss for improving this team, they had an off night. Period. The first half of the first period looked like a nice prelude to this years Stanley Cup Final, but I think the two quick goals killed them and they were just scrambling from there. Their only goal came on a 5 on 3, and had yet another 5 on 3 to add to it, but to no avail. Vokoun played lights out (as he always did against Detroit when he was with Nashville) and that just added to the Wings frustrations. But hey, if they are gonna win 5 out of every 6 games, then I think we are in for a enjoyable season! I'll take it. It would've been nice to have the intensity of the first half of the first period all night long, but, meh, they'll get over it and who knows, maybe they'll win 5 more in a row! I didn't really see enough of Brunnstrom to evaluate him (too busy switching from MSU game (Go Sparty!)) did he looked bad or ok? I am excited to see Commodore come in and play soon (hopefully,) with the way Ericsson is muscling himself around, that duo could be very hard to play against! Anyhow, not too worried about the blowout, Washington had more to prove than the Wings, lets just turn this into a positive and take out Columbus with a heavy sword!

ESPN insider article re: Wing's deadline cap space

So how do you plan on acquiring Parise and Carle? I see you are missing Holmstrom, Miller, Bertuzzi and Stuart and Conklin. So did NHL 11 allow this trade? Because no GM would take those guys in a trade....

ESPN insider article re: Wing's deadline cap space

Problem. Lots of cap room, no roster room and the players Holland is willing to deal, nobody wants.....

    DirecTV threatens to pull FSNs

Well, they can drop the fsd's, as long as they like losing the revenue of all the customers who love hockey. Once again, the media giants are greedy and who suffers? The working man....again. Take more, more and more until there is nothing left to take.

Easy whiskey. He is doing well, but kickin ass and taking names? No.

    Hudler?

He could score 100+ points and I would still never like him, but if he plays up to his worth, I will certainly be off his case...
  14. LeftWinger

    Hudler?

4 games, 4 points....still doesn't mean I like him, but so far he is doing well.

Could these be the Winter Classic Jerseys?

I am starting a petition, both the Flyers and Penguins have had it twice. Next season, Detroit vs. Devils in Commerica or Michigan Stadium.

I think Helm outta look somewhere else other than Holmstrom if he needs that! I still look forward to: Eaves - Helm - Cherry (I mean Cleary)

Ya well, IMO, the Rags should wear the old New York Americans sweater... and we're talking using the Quakers sweater...

What the heck is the PA guy saying?!

Amway Arena? Really? :puke: I still like the Delta Centre, but Delta Airlines is so stingy with their money it'll never happen. I absolutely hate the music there. I have grown tired of Budd Lynch AND Karen Newman. Sorry...it's time to upgrade...

What the heck is the PA guy saying?!

another great song they used to play after a goal is EMF's Unbelievable...or the absolute best is Gary Glitter's Rock N Roll part 2. Oh well...

What the heck is the PA guy saying?!

PA.THE.TIC. :puke: I am beginning to not like Mike Illitch and his marketing...I know it may be sacrilegious to say that, but when is enough enough?

What the heck is the PA guy saying?!

The Joe's music in general needs to be re-evaluated. I cannot stand music "themes" for goals, penalties, etc... and while we are at it, the DJ stinks. I don't know who picks the music, but I am growing tired of the same old junk that they have been playing since 1990...at least for the most part.

    Redwings concession for moving east

...anything that doesn't involve Detroit moving East is garbage. And if they end up staying in the West, this league will be absolute hogwash. (if it aint already) Detroit to the East is the only answer.

    Hudler?

I am not placing his value at $1.2M based on two games, I am basing it on last season and if he does not improve on it this season. So if he gets 30-40pts, I wouldn't mind him re-signing for around $1.2M to maybe $1.5M, which is what his performance from last season is worth. But if he does get 80pts, he will not accept a 5yr $16M contract since he has already once turned down $3.5M after get 57 points. He will ask for at least $5M if he scores 80pts and even at 80pts, $5M is way too much for Hudler on this team. If he did get 80pts and accepted an offer of around $3.2M per year, I would be fine with that too. But history shows what he is about, and its not hometown discounts...
  24. LeftWinger

    Hudler?

I guess if he scored 80+ and signed for only just over $3M, I wouldn't be too upset. But I would hate for him to hold out for his KHL type money. Hell he turned down $3.5M after scoring 57 points, so I highly doubt he'd take less than that after scoring 80. In my opinion, what is best is him bouncing back, or better, then being dealt on the deadline. He has a history of being greedy and running for the money, so I would think Holland would try to get something for him, because he isn't gonna pay him $5M that he will no doubt ask for. Good for him if he gets his payday, but not here...
