Really? UFC? MMA? Cool, now he can be just like Johnnie Morton who also trained for MMA at one point in his career and he became a superstar after....oh wait.... ...nevermind

I find it funny to get a negative for a joke.... The means ha ha funny and not being serious....but some folks are just so negative that they don't take a moment to actually read it. Seriously though, I think I am not alone in hoping Commodore makes the #6 spot over Kindl...

I know! Sheesh! I remember an Av's fan in here one year saying Sakic had more class than Yzerman because he handed the Cup to Bourque first and Yzerman (or anyone else) has ever done something that classy. (I guess Lidstrom handing off to Drake doesn't count either...) When I mentioned that Yzerman handed the Cup to the Illitch Family in 1997, Konstantinov in a wheel chair in 1998 and Scotty in 2002, he still argued with me... oh well! Go Pav! Go Wings!
-
...but...but...the Wings don't have any class. That's what I hear from other teams fans.... anyhow, great, GREAT move by Pav and shows his super huge heart! I am interested to see the patches. I still think it would be super cool if the NHL put a small sticker of their logo on the back of ALL helmets this year. There were so many former NHL players and a few who hadn't yet had the chance to come over. I wish Illitch would paint Salei's and McCrimmon's name in the ice for the season as well. Over the top? I don't think so... I just know (hope) that there will be a moment of silence in the home opener vs. Ottawa for those two and their teammates. I can hear Bud Lynch now: "And now fans, would you please remove your hats and join the Red Wings in a moment of silence for our fallen teammates, Brad McCrimmon and Ruslan Salei, may they and their teammates rest in peace......" Dim the lights, spot light on their names in the ice and cue up the pictures of them on the jumbo-tron.......silence..... "Thank you and now will you remain standing and welcome the Red Wings own, Karen Newman, for the Canadian and U.S. Natioanl Athem's...." (they may even mention Demitra since he was an Ottawa Senator for a bit...that would be cool and classy...)

Kindl in front of Commodore is really disturbing. I am questioning Babcock at the moment. Seriously, I hope Commie gets that 6th spot. If not, then it was a waste....

If this happens, makes you wonder what Dan Snyder's folks could get out of Heatly.....

Wait til someone comes in there trying to pawn/sell their autographed McCarty jersey from 1997 and he sues them for making money off his name without him getting royalties. Better yet, let them have an un-autographed item and when they don't get offered enough for it, they could ask him to autograph it to make it worth more...

Everyone has rejoined the team for skating...except one player...

Given your apparent belief that nobody's opinion matters but your own, and you are so high above us, maybe you should just create your own forum and not accept any members, then you could just read your own garble all day. "This topic is dumb" well then leave and don't read/reply in it....how about that idea? Besides, other than a character/user created on this forum, you don't have a clue what my field of expertise is, so I really think you can leave those type's of comments off this forum. Leftwinger is a character a virtual user in a cyber world. Spartacus is a character on tv, that picture is not me. You see, unlike you and 90% of this world, I don't post my life online for all people and Governments to see and follow. I don't have a face-space tweet that I use to post on a "wall" when I am going on vacation or the names of my children or my choice of career or where exactly I am sitting in the house or when it's time to take a dump. I don't have photos of my children uploaded to ANY internet site for someone to get a hold of. My point is, other than me being the made up LeftWinger, who usually enjoys reading and posting opinions with other people, whether they are agreeable or not, sometimes over the edge I admit, other than that you don't know anything about me. So from now on, just go about your business of trying to belittle people with your "Knowledge" and "Expert Opinions" because that is what you do, and who the character you've created thrives on, and I will just continue to sit here and laugh because you think you know everything, yet, you don't know anything that is real outside of your fantasy Cyber-World. -

Yes, I did. The problem if he scores 80 points and remains on this team throughout the playoffs, if he gets re-signed it will be at an amount that he is not really worth, and then the 30 point Hudler will return for he next 5 years making 80 point Hudler money, it happens all the time . I would hope that if he does play that well and doesn't get traded, he is allowed to walk when he asks for money that he is not worth. (like he did before he went to Russia.) My fear is to waste even more Cap Space on Hudler than they already have on this contract, which is a gross overpayment... I'd gladly watch him get 20-30 points this year and then get re-signed for $500,000 to $1M. At that rate of pay, even I could become a Hudler supporter. -

Which means he get 80 points this year, then Holland will re-sign him for $5M+ and then Hudler will return to "Form" next season and he will be a $5M 30 point player... I can only hope he is on pace for 80 and is traded at the deadline for something the team can use to complete this quest for another Cup...or he only gets about 20 points (and nobody wants him at the deadline) and Holland re-signs him for what he is worth $500,000 or just lets him walk. -
Manny Legace will attend the Canucks camp as well...

I wish I knew where and when....Wouldn't it be awesome to line the streets of the procession route to salute our "family memeber..." It would be... edit: http://www.clickondetroit.com/sports/29171606/detail.html We should all try to attend! (at least the ones "in town.")

I agree, all these series' have been epic, but I voted for other...I go back to 1997, 2nd round vs. the Mighty Ducks. Sure it was a 4 game sweep, but games 1, 2 and 4 were OT games. Game two was a triple overtime and game 4 was a double overtime. That series was a defining moment in the Wings history and I remember the Anaheim crowd chanting USA USA USA in game 3 when the Russian 5 were on the ice, although their goalie, Mikhail Shtalenkov was Russian which had to baffle him a little. That chant quickly disappeared when the Russian 5 dominated the ducks single-handedly. They tallied 10 of the 13 points scored that night by the Red Wings including three points each by Fedorov, Kozlov and Konstantinov. Larionov tallied a goal as well... I still maintain 1997 was the most complete team and greatest Stanley Cup victory of the four I have been privileged to be alive for!

That is it! This is how we celebrate the man. Who cares what people believe, whether there is a Heaven or whether there is not. We measure men on what they brought to (and left behind) this world. Brad McCrimmmon 1959-2011. My personal philosophy is, it's not the numbers or the dates on that statement, 1959 or 2011, the most important part is the dash in between. The dash in between represents the life you lived, the people you've touched, the things you did to better this world and leave a mark before you depart. Brad McCrimmon brought joy to his family, helped a city feel the joy of becoming a Champion, he taught many young players how to play the game, he left a permanent imprint on the greatest game on Earth. Brad McCrimmon made my life better by being an NHL player, he made the NHL better by his contributions on and off the ice. He made his family's life better by being a man of honor and doing what he thought he had to do to better his family's future. He gave his life pursuing that dream that most of us are too afraid or too busy to attempt. He left this Earth way too early, but he left this Earth being what he was meant to be. He left this Earth, completing his Dash, his name will live on, his honor will live on. It's how you live your Dash is what is important. You could live 20 years or 100 years, if you lived your Dash in a way where people loved you, remember you, if the world is a better place because of you and if the life you lived touched someone, somewhere at sometime, then you lived your Dash, you completed your goals, you have realized the meaning of life...Life...

I think what would be a nice Red Wings tribute to our fallen teammates would be to put their names on the ice for the entire season. Brad McCrimmon & Ruslan Salei for sure, if they wanted to include the three that were part of the Griffin's organization, that would only be better. I do agree the NHL should put something on the helmets or jersey's for the year, it's a no brainer... ...perhaps a nice video tribute to McCrimmon and Salei would be nice opening night as well. Maybe all you guys who are pro's at videos(you know who you are) should compose something up with some nice music and submit it to the Red Wings organization. I am sure there is plenty of Beast footage out there playing and coaching along with Rusty knocking some guys around... If I had the software, I would love to attempt it!

Oh God No....Damnit! This is absolutely tragic! I know this may sound funny, or dumb to say, but I take back everything I have ever said negative toward McCrimmon... It's almost like you wish you could go back and change history. Is it too late to re-sign Salei and offer McCrimmon a job? Damn....it is a very sad day...

I too immediately thought of Getzlaf and Perry/Ryan, would LOVE to have them on the Wings....speaking of Wings duo's, haven't you heard, Hudler and Datstuk are the greatest together! Hudler even outscores Datsyuk! seriously though, Getzlaf and Perry/Ryan are about the best, they almost always have their way with the Wings...

can't wait to see the logo at center ice this year when it has the "presented by Amway" logo underneath it! :puke:

this makes you think that maybe this is why Probert was high on coke or drinking before every game....

...if my High School had a hockey program. I played up until high school and was pretty good. But also if I was better than pretty good, maybe I would've gone the junior way instead. But, I didn't pursue it...darn!
-
Yes, but.... ...he will have to call Mr. Masisak and explain to him that Hudler and all his potential (for pete's sake, he outscored Datsyuk for 11 games) is a first line player and should NEVER be offended like this again!

http://detroithockeyreport.com/2011/08/15/when-gretzky-and-bure-were-both-red-wings/ I could not have imagined the scoring on this team if they had BOTH Fedorov AND Bure.... (talk about convenient for Anna though! ) I knew the Gretzky scenario, that would've been cool too, because Gretzky was traded in 1988, so the team would've had Gretzky, Fedorov and Bure...But unfortunately acquiring Gretzky would have surely cost them Yzerman....

I know I was a huge advocate for Wiz, but considering the situation and the over gross salary he got, I am glad Holland didn't sign him. All in all, I am super happy with our changes, other than the exact names, Holland has done pretty much what I was hoping for: Two right handed defensmen, who happen to be tougher and more physical. The re-signed Miller and Eaves, allowed Draper and Osgood to retire too. The only thing that he couldn't do, was land that ligit top 6 forward (or trade Piddler.) So I am very happy with the guys he got, and even happy with the guys he tried to get (Vokoun would've been sweet, but he obviously wanted a starting role, even though he was offered the same contract from Detroit first.) Just get rid of Piddler and the off-season will be nearly perfect!

If he comes back, how long will the suspension be to the player who LEGALLY checks him and knocks him back out?
