Well since most of us would rather have a bag of pucks than Hudler....for $1M or so, he wouldn't be too bad, but I have a feeling that Mursak or Emmerton would be just as valuable to this team...
-
I wouldn't mind, heck he played 72 games and scored 38 points, he's 24 and has a lot of potential. He will make over a million less than Hudler, yet he puts up similar numbers, plus he is younger he would be well worth the contract. Nice find!

Lets think COMPLETELY outside of the box for one minute...
LeftWinger replied to shaeb30's topic in General
Exactly, if Holland was going to throw $10M at one player he wants, he would throw it at Weber... -
That is ! He's like "Don't listen to this idiot..."
-
I have no proof except for my vivid memory, but I would say that he probably played with McCarty and a plethora of 4th line centers before hooking up permanently with Draper... remember we had Tim Taylor, Mike Knuble and Greg Johnson on that team as well.
-
I am neither here nor there for him. I'd would take him, Cole, Jokinen, Handzus, Ryder, Upshall or Laich... any of these for the right price. Hell, I'd rather have the guys I mentioned over him now that I think about it....
-
yes, I would be ok with that too, as long as Holland doesn't overpay Ericsson. I like $1.7Mish but if it is $2.3M and we still get Wiz and Montador,I can definitely live with that. It still gives Holland $6M+ to get a back-up goaler and address the forwards...
-
This is fine, maybe we'll get Wiz for about the same.... I have no issues with Wiz for 5 yrs $4.7ish million... Then give me Montador for $2M and Jovo for $3M... Kronwall - Stuart Lidstrom - Wiz Jovo - Montador Kindl I would love to see that D starting the season.... If Ericsson would take $1.7M then he can replace either Jovo or Montador...
-
you are corrected, Lapointe was an original Grind Line member
-
:puke: if Helm and Abdelkader are still playing on the 4th line in 5 years, then please Mr. I, sell the team and let them move to Egypt...
-
probably because he wasn't on the Wings very long and did most of his Hall of Fame work in LA. I know the OP said greatest draft picks and he was drafted by the Wings, but from the looks of his list I think he meant draft picks that played most if not all of their career is Detroit, or at least where they got the fame... BTW, Franzen still doesn't belong there. We could list the following as well: Pete Mahovolich, Yvon Lambert, Mike Foligno, Johnny O, Mark Osborne, Murray Craven, hell Shawn Burr even put up some good numbers. There is Adam Graves and Joe Murphy, you have to give mention to Mike Sillinger (although he never really got a chance here,) Mike Knuble and Marty LaPointe both played in nearly 1000 games and put up some great numbers. Maybe all these guys wouldn't make top 10, but still very impressive careers by some great Wings picks!

Habs shopping Wisniewksi's rights + for a 2nd rounder
LeftWinger replied to crazy13's topic in General
Yes, for sure! Especially if he chooses Chicago over Detroit..... I just hope to all hope that Wisniewski is in the Winged-Wheel for a long time! -
In terms of absolute steals and the fact that all other teams are saying DOH! right about now, even though Fedorov and Dastyuk were taken late, Nick Lidstrom going in the third round in 1989 has to be the biggest steal of the modern draft era. Considering that he is quite possibly the best defenseman EVER in the modern world, and if anyone else had scouts over there as early as the Wings had, he would've no doubt gone top 10...
-
I like your list, except for McCarty and Franzen. While they are a couple of very important players drafted by the Wings, IMO, Kozlov and Kocur did more for this team. But that's neither here nor there! There are many excellent players that have been drafted by the Wings and have turned out to be great players! BTW, McCarty was NOT a founding member of the grind line, the first line nick-named "The Grind Line" actually consisted of Draper, Kocur and LaPointe...

A top six of all european?
-
I just hope he doesnt pass on wiz.....

Has holland traded hudler yet?
-
Hey, Holland, Sefton would have been nice... 6'2" 207lbs. Defenseman from the hockey news. God, I hope so...
-
So nobody wants our garbage Hudler....nice...
-
Jurko? Really? :puke: What happened to the #48 pick, nhl.com board says Chicago....
-
When the deadline comes and Franzen is yet again returning from another injury, he will be our trade deadline acquisition. Now I am hearing that the Wings are not interestef in obtaining Wisniewski's rights, and are close to re-signing Ericsson.... Come on Holland, for once do something to better this team....
-
FTW!
-
We will see what happens down the road and I hope to all hope he does a bit more on July 1st than he did today... They are all-stars in the Fetish Elite League!
-
I agree....what San Jose gave up for Burns, Holland could've bested with Franzen. But no, we'll keep china doll Franzen...maybe Holland did try to offer Franzen, but Minnesota doesn't want a china doll... You guys can ***** all you want about us complaining about Holland today, but with the GAPING holes in D we've had and lost with Rafalski, it seems like every team out there were making deals to make their clubs better and Holland just sat on his hands...again. FYI, Holland is not the best GM in the league. Maybe the best at managing money and circumventing the Cap, but he is not the best in player personnel...
-
if you read the post before you just hit neg, I said disappointed THUS FAR... He says he needs to replace Rafalski, yet when a great player is available, he balks. Holland could've offered more than the Sharks did for Burns but for some reason he won't budge on his "core." That is why most teams get better every year and the Wings don't. I am ready for July 1st, but THUS FAR, Holland spewed a bunch of crap about making deals on draft day only to trade down so he can draft Haken Pupen and Bojrn Swappin Nutt in the second round... I am THUS FAR disappointed, he stood in the batters box today and watched the ball go by...strike one. Strike three and I will go back to hating him and once again knowing that he is NOT the best GM in the NHL. Today, Brian Burke, BRAIN ******* BURKE FOR f***'S SAKE slapped Holland around like a *****...
