    Wings - Flyers Trade Partners?

If Philly wants to sign Bryz bad enough, they will be looking for prospects that don't cost much. Leino was garbage here, but he worked wonderfully there, Hudler has shown he can score here, that is very enticing to Philly. I would say if Mursak, Hudler, draft picks, and another prospect (maybe a Joakim Andersson) would probably get it done. I know that is giving up a lot of future, but this is Jeff Carter, he is VERY young and will be here forever. Wings would lose out on Mursak and Andersson and possibly a re-emerging Hudler (not to mention the draft picks) but it's not like they don't have other prospects waiting to come up (Tatar, Emmerton, Nyquist, Sheahan) they are pretty deap in prospects... Normally someone would say that this isn't NHL 11 or WGH, but when a team is looking to dump salary, you got to do what you got to do... I know this kid in Columbus has a small cap hit, but the Wings have more assets to throw in. If somehow Holland can make this happen, then OH MY! Our top 6 would be KILLER! I would hate to see Abdelkader thrown in there, I believe he is gonna be a solid player here for a long long time, I would rather see MUrsak and Hudler go instead of Abdelkader. I would hate for Holland to include him in a package. Although, with Mursak out of options, they cap relief wouldn't be too much for the Flyers adding the two together...but then again, it would be some... I like the idea of Versteeg too. I guess it just all depends on the fine line between NEEDING cap relief and getting a good deal in exchange....if somehow Holland could get Carter and Versteeg...yikes! Hey stranger things have happened in the NHL, look at when Pitt had to dump Jagr's salary, then when Washington had to dump him... Could always see if Cleary would waive his NTC as well... besides it's only in effect until 30 days prior to the trade deadline, they could do whatever then, may as well accept a trade to a legit contender now and not have to worry about having to learn their system in a month before the playoffs... here is my WGH trade (it's gonna be silly, so its ok to LOL at me! Just dont neg me! ) Detroit gets: Carter ($5.272M), Versteeg ($3.083), Coburn ($3.2M) Philly gets: Hudler ($2.89M), Cleary ($2.8M), Mursak ($550), Andersson ($875) 1st & 2nd picks, Philly picks up $6.24M (not counting Andersson since he has options left) but sends away $11.555M gaining $5.315M in cap relief... Detroit obviously in spending $5.315M more in cap space, but since they will have a projected $22M available, this is a nice cap hit for what they pick up! Detroit then re-signs Lids, Mller, Eaves, picks up Wiz, Joe Goalie and convinces Ericsson to sign a $1.8M contract....Lids, Coburn, Stuart, Kronwall, Wiz, Ericsson, Kindl....Nice! Then when Lids retires, we can go after Suter next off season.... ok, laugh it up now....

    Thoughts on Sami Salo?

Man you get negged everytime you post something! (it wasnt me!) What do I think about Salo.....well, after finding out that Tim Thomas played for the Detroit Vipers, I looked at their all-time roster and Sami Salo played for them too! So I think....I think that is pretty cool. But I don't think too much else about him. But it's just because I don't know too much about him....besides the fact that he is left handed and we need a right hander...

Latest Rumor: NHL Team Expected to Announce Rebranding in 2012

Duh you guys, it's gonna be the Pittsburgh Crosby's..... The jersey change is from White//black/Yellow Ocre to Canary Yellow/sky blue and White with a dominate yellow stripe down the back and a diving board for a logo! I swear you guys are sooooo naive!

Former NBA players son on path to pros... in... NHL?!

Glad you aren't a scout then! Article says projected top 10 draft in 2012, so he must be pretty darn good, and at least the right people have heard of him! Honestly, have you ever heard of Nick Lidstrom before 1989? or Abdelkader before 2005?

    Gosh I hope Draper doesn't get re-signed....

    Let's summarize...

I still think a 5 year Wiz is our best investment this season. I wouldn't mind seeing Jovo or Selanne here since they would both fill a role that the Wings lacked last season. The reason I think Wiz would be a nice 5 year plan is, Holland would still have plenty of money to persue Suter next year, plus re-sign Stuart and Kronwall (which I expect done before July 1, 2012.) That way if Lids does retire, there is one less glaring hole to fill with Wiz here long term. If Holland can land a Suter or Burns, you better believe they wouldn't just be one year deals and you would have a top four of Kronwall, Suter(Burns), Stuart, Wiz for four or more years with Kindl and Smith as well... Players like Selanne or Jovo can be one year fill in's to try to win a Cup, but someone as young as Wiz, you gotta sign him up thru his prime, and if it takes $4M to $4.5M to do it, then do it. how about a 5 year $23M contract? Then when Lids retires (and the Cap goes up again in 2012 (if there is a hard cap)) Holland can re-sign Kronwall for $5-6M and Stuart to $4-$5MM and still have a great amount of money to offer a Suter or Burns long term deals. (if they are still available) Bertuzzi and Holmstrom will be off the books, Hudler (if not traded) will either earn a fatter contract by returning to form or he'll fall off the book (or re-sign for FAR less) Abby and Helm will probably top $2M as RFA's (which will wash Bert and Homer) This could happen for 2012, but this season coming up I do believe Wiz is worth a long term deal and anyone else should be one year investments...

    Changes in the offseason

    Well then, I will trade Hudler and his $2.9M for the rights to either Kyle Turris, Luke Schenn, Erik Cole's or Ian White's $2.9M average salary... -OR- Saku Koivu's $2.5M, Tim Gleason's $2.7M, Erik Johnson's $2.6M, Steve Ott's $2.9M, Matt Greene's $2.9M, Lattendresse's $2.5, Barker's $3.0, Clarkson's $2.6M, Salvadore's $2.9M, Okposo's $2.8M, Grabner's $3.0M, Eaton's $2.5M, Chris Phillip's $3.0M, Versteeg's $3.0M, Klesla's $2.9M, Morris' $2.7M, James Neal's $2.8M, Doug Murray's $2.5M, Chris Stewart's $2.8M, Armstrong's $3M, Grabovski's $2.9M, Shultz's $2.7M....etc etc... unfortunately, none of these teams would even think about trading ANY of these guys for Hudler... If Holland cannot move Hudler, then I hope to the highest hope that the 2008 Hudler returns in 2011... edit: What would you guys do if Holland signs Turco as Howards back-up?

Great Read! Thanks! And good luck to Seth! I find it disgusting some of the racial comments. I am white and proud, but if a kid, who just happens to have some African American in him, is that good at something that isn't normally associated with minorities, GOD BLESS HIM! I hope he gets drafted and plays 1000+ games in the NHL and score 1000+ points! Good Luck Seth!

    Brad Richards

Yeah! also, when is Toronto going to have a chance at the Cup?
  18. LeftWinger

    Let's summarize...

Well, he is technically a local boy, is super goods friends with Bertuzzi, plus he is entering the twilight of his career WITHOUT having his name on the Cup. None of that means he will come here, but there are only a handful of teams that have a legit shot at the Cup and that alone makes it a possibility and I wouldn't be surprised if he did end up here....unless he goes for more huge payday's. If he signs here, it shouldn't be for more than $3M. But, like most of the available UFA's he will get higher offers elsewhere, maybe even other Cup contenders...

    Hudler's Future

Well ya, as much as I dislike him, I wouldn't think Holland would trade him just because, only if he had to clear more cap or roster space. You did notice that I first said I would like to see him trade Hudler and our first to move up a smidgen in the draft...is he worth that? Not sure, but ya, if there are no UFA forwards in the mix, I can see him hanging around and playing out his contract OR being dealt at the deadline for someone...
  20. LeftWinger

    Hudler's Future

This is my wish, I hope to maybe see Holland trade Hudler and our first to maybe scoot up a few spots in the draft, but you are probably right, he will get us a 4th or 5th rounder, which is fine, so long as the Hudler experiment is OVER!!!

    Flyers acquire Bryzgalov's rights

yes, agree....every year the Cap goes up, so do the amount of overpaying contracts...the days of bargins are over, what you got for $1.5M three years ago is now gonna cost you $4.5M... (I wish my employer would give me raises in those percentages!!!)
  22. LeftWinger

    Flyers acquire Bryzgalov's rights

Ya, and puke.... :puke: I can see it now, Kenny keeps Hudler and re-signs Leino...ya, that'll bring us a Cup.... did I mention :puke:?
  23. LeftWinger

    Let's summarize...

I am saying "for the right price." If Wiz would take a 5 yr $20M deal, then sign him up, but that depends on him, I am sure there will be teams offering him $5M+ per season, then I say no thanks. I am with ya on the Jovo deal. Sign him for one and heck if he likes it and has some stuff left, sign him again when we get Suter (thinking positive) and like I said, it's no guarantee that Lids is done after one more year either. I'd take a d-corps of Lids/Suter/Kronner/Stuart/Jovo/Kindl/Smith for 2012... I just would like to see Wiz here as well, that way if Lids does retire, they wouldn't be hurting as much, but then again, who else is available next off season on D? One thing is for sure, it's nice to finally NOT be up against the Cap and have all these options available!!!
  24. LeftWinger

    Brad Richards

So, thats it? You get your name on the Cup once and you could care less if you ever do again? I agree he probably wants a long term deal somewhere, but there is no doubt he wants another "shot at the Cup." If I remember correctly, Kris Draper had said its a dream that he got his name on the Cup, but once you win it, you want it again and again... Odds are he goes back to Tampa, since they to have enough cash to sign him, plus made a serious run at the Cup this year...
  25. LeftWinger

    Let's summarize...

Thing is, Holland has enough cash this year to get BOTH Wiz and Jovo plus pursue Suter next year, even if Wiz signed for 5 years. Jovo will probably get a bigger pay day than $3M, even if he is not worth it, BUT considering his friendship and past with Bertuzzi, plus there is always the "hometown" factor (yes I consider Windsor basically a hometown when it comes to Detroit.) He just may come here if Bert talks him into it to try to get their first Cup... I think he would add very good veteran leadership and toughness to our D corps. IF he signed for $3M or less....considering he has been making an average of $6.5M the last 5 years. Maybe its time for him to give up a little and possibly win a Cup at home. Dunno, it'd be nice, but some team will throw $5M or more at him anyway...
